I'm glad I learned that RUclips wasn't meant for me. Tried posting a few videos on my gaming account and learned that this wasn't worth it nor was I enjoying it. But still, I seriously hope for the best for everyone else, this is significantly bigger than anything RUclips has dealt with for the past few years.

That means they were knowingly collecting data on kids. That is what they got in trouble for. And they just pushed it off on creators, who have no control on the data collected.

I am not going to accept my freedoms as a creator being ripped away from me because of a collection of modern parents who complained that they can't leave their kids on the internet unsupervised. Well guess what? When I was a kid, I didn't have unsupervised internet access until I was 12 years old. Yes, a bit extreme, but does that mean I had a bad life? Not at all. Modern parents want to be able to give their kids tablets to make them shut up, and because they can't be lazy and let their kids explore the internet themselves, they are mad at the internet. They want people who are making a living off of the internet (and living their dreams) to change their content so that they don't have to monitor their kids. Grow up, people. If you don't want your kids playing in the dark world of the internet, get off your throne and be a parent; don't try to turn the dark places into light places, just so that you don't have to watch your kids anymore. To me, they are the ones who should be punished but it seems like everyone is being lumped together just because any video could be seen by kids. Yeah this whole situation needs to be addressed more thoroughly before action is taken.
Michael Santana You're absolutely right. When a problem arises, most seem to stereotype all who are apart of the system as "part of the problem." I agree that there are many videos that lead parents to believe they are safe for kids, but are not. However, fixing a broken fence with an eight-foot wall isn't always the best solution. Something as simple as a better filtering system on RUclips's part could help solve the problem, and let's not forget about the FTC's "resources."
Austin Pericule Totally agree. They need to actually listen and hear the concerns from creators. I know monetizing to kids is wrong and especially channels that take advantage of their naivety but we need to define what kids content is, like in detail and not with vague language. Honestly RUclips had this a long time coming and made no effort to address it, along with many other things they need to change.
That’s never been what RUclips was for people over 13 and if you didn’t have an account or you were under 13 that wouldn’t effect the content creator. The kids would just have to wait to turn 13 or use an account belonging to their parents/or guardians.
It's already been slowly self destructing, like an immune system attacking its own body for the past 3 years. Only a matter of time before it finally keels over.

Alright, this has gone too far. I am not going to accept my freedoms as a creator being ripped away from me because of a collection of modern parents who complained that they can't leave their kids on the internet unsupervised.
Well guess what? When I was a kid, I didn't have unsupervised internet access until I was 12 years old. Yes, a bit extreme, but does that mean I had a bad life? Not at all. Modern parents want to be able to give their kids tablets to make them shut up, and because they can't be lazy and let their kids explore the internet themselves, they are mad at the internet.
They want people who are making a living off of the internet (and living their dreams) to change their content so that they don't have to monitor their kids.
Grow up, people. If you don't want your kids playing in the dark world of the internet, get off your throne and be a parent; don't try to turn the dark places into light places, just so that you don't have to watch your kids anymore. I agree that there are many videos that lead parents to believe they are safe for kids, but are not. However, fixing a broken fence with an eight-foot wall isn't always the best solution.
Something as simple as a better filtering system on RUclips's part could help solve the problem, and let's not forget about the FTC's "resources."

It's already been slowly self destructing, like an immune system attacking its own body for the past 3 years. Only a matter of time before it finally keels over.

Self destruct would require RUclips to have done this by themselves. This isn't their fault... for once.
The thing is, before this RUclips wanted channels to be family friendly, so everyone tried to be family friendly to be for kids, now kids content will basically destroy your channel and since RUclips did the family friendly think quite a bit ago everyone has a bit of kids content
