    After working in a music store in the 80's , I first wanted to thank you both for taking me back to the some of the best days of my life. Working in the store during the day, playing out with the band at night, good times.
    Beyond that, you both are awesome and incredibly talented. You are knowledgeable about both the music and the gear you sell way beyond the point of most people who have been working in some of the stores or more importantly think that they could. The way that you can pair up the instrument and amplifier with the accessories to achieve the best sound is evidence of deep industry experience.

    Also the amps that Billie uses are 2 Marshall super lead plexis called Pete and mete. Pete has the dookie mod on it, which gives it another gain stage, and a volume control with some other enhancements , while mete has a more general mod called the gain mod, that also adds a gain stage and volume knob.
    His blue strat is a Fernandez copy from the late 70s that originally had a bill lawrence 500XL pickup in it. He recorded all albums up to Dookie with that pickup, and not soon after that he switched to the Seymour Duncan JB. When nimrod came around, he began to use old juniors with p90s and humbuckers, and he did so until about the American idiot era. @@KeeperOfPoops the overdrive is smoother on the without busting, making for a more accurate sound, take boulevard of broken dreams, in this one it was too much gain, on the without it was closer.

      CS: GOPNIK Disagree. Without busting was too muffled, the tone was closer here. They also used the blues driver for all the riffs in without busting, which was wrong cuz he only uses it for solos

    • @DrumBuster16
      @DrumBuster16 5 лет назад +1

      I agree, too much gain, Billie used a Tube Screamer for the P90 / Humbucker mix of AI, but this time they got closer tbh. Wish they at least could have used a guitar with a Duncan JB. Or use the new Marshall Studio vintage. But this time it was really great

    the last time they did green day it wasnt very close, so i was hoping this time would be better. still way off :( this should have been one of the easiest bands too. EDIT: i should clarify, theyve used WAY too much gain, the sound is too compressed, needs more treble, and the low end is too mushy. the dusenburg really shoulda been a les paul custom.

      the tone is in the fingers. Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme once said that he plugged into evh's personal rig but even then he still didn't sound like evh. I think the tone is really close tho within the confines of what you can achieve without getting Billie Joe himself to play it and replicate the exact way the sound engineer captured the tone.
