It's really strange to watch the US "panics." There are so many of them. And yet I don't think I ever saw even one in my own country. What makes USA so suseptible to this?

It’s just accepted that news should go for topics that will get them viewership or clicks. If that means being using misdirection, half truths, sexiness, celebrities, violence, fads, or panics so be it. It’s a business after all, they need to get people’s attentions and money . Why would they care if it’s harmful to people? It’s not their responsibility to help society.
@@yucol5661 My ideas were: Republicans and US conservatism in general, large parts of media being a republican propaganda tool (and the other parts being... well, I don't know. Impotent? They definitely let themselves be manipulated into topics the conservatives created, and they're very, _very_ far from being left-wing or progressive anyway) and racism.
1) USA is so far into the right it's _insane_. From the perspective of any other country you could be considered proto-fascist on a good day. And fascism needs an enemy. It doesn't really matter who is the enemy - anyone that is convenient - that the public would easily believe in and hated - would do. (How the F that made _satanists_ a good choice I will never understand, though.) Republicans also need an enemy, since they don't plan to actually offer something. And the media exist to provide that for them, and here we go full circle.
2) And then there's racism, and I guess your very weird version of Christianity too, you're right. Those two seem to go hand in hand more often than not anyway. Racism is very, very deeply imbeded in US culture. It was one of the most basic building blocks of your country, and it never went away. Now that setting up pretend-lynch sites with Obama dolls in your back yard is not satisfying anymore, that hatred has to go somewhere. Bigotry loves company, you never hate just one group of people. Your pseudo-Christian ethics pointed direction.

Grew up in a trailer park and a lesbian couple lived a few trailers up from me in the 80’s. They used to go all out for Halloween. I remember that some of the other kids were not allowed to get candy from them. Even as a kid I knew this was wrong, told them their parents were stupid, and helped them sneak up to these women’s home to trick or treat. My parents were friends with them so I knew they were a safe house. The other kids were told ridiculous things about these women who were just kind, normal people. They were nervous until we knocked on the door and they saw this for themselves.
These kids grew up to be nothing like their parents. Had thought by the time I reached the age I am bigotry would be a thing of the past. Boy was I wrong but I know for a fact I changed a few hearts along my way and that’s really all most of us can do.

The sad reality behind why conservatives are so against sex ed (which obviously relates to the whole LGBTQ groomer panic) is because for a lot of young sexual assault victims, sex ed classes is the first place that they learn that whats being done to them is wrong and abuse. The catholic/christian church and conservatives go hand and hand, so sick priests would have a much harder time keeping these kids mouths shut and getting away with it when proper sex ed is taught at a young age.

The ironic part to me about that is, statistically, 99% of NFL players suffer traumatic brain injury, 91% of college football players (who aren't paid), and 21% of high school players (also aren't paid). So they are forcing their kids to engage in an activity before they are fully developed with an extremely high likelihood to cause permanent, irreparable damage to themselves.
Yet ALLOWING a child who feels their body isn't right for them to undergo a normally reversible series of hormone blockers is grooming...

hey conservatives, you wanna know how you actually protect children? by actually fucking feeding them in school for free and funding education so they can grow up and learn about how to stay safe in the world from actual sexual abuse, STDs, and teenage pregnancy through sufficient sex ed classes. The sad reality behind why conservatives are so against sex ed is because in a lot of southern, super christian, and deeply conservative states where child sexual abuse happens a lot, Sex ed is commonly the first place that kids being abused learn that what is being done to them is wrong and sexual abuse.
The church and conservatives go hand and hand together and they know that with proper sex ed taught to children at a young age, the priests who love to prey on young children for their sick kicks will have a much harder time keeping kids from speaking out and getting away with it.
