A few years ago my Grandmother was interviewed about what life was like in Clare when she was younger. When I heard the recording I couldn't believe how personal and heartfelt it was, I hadn't heard anyone her age talk so honestly about love. I put parts of the interview to some chords I was writing and everything clicked into place. It's a great introduction to the upcoming record, which is inspired by living in the west of Ireland. My Grandmother is 90 years old, and still lives in a thatched cottage in Ballyvaughan. Видеоклипы
RIP Mary Keane, forever immortalised
For me... this is one of the greatest ever pieces of music. Every once in a while I just need to listen again and I play it over and over....
Mary has sadly passed away... thanks Mary and Daithi....Rip Mary
any fellow Irish get goose bumps listening to this ?
Captain Acid yah😂
Captain Acid Definitely
Captain Acid EVERYtime! And a lump in my throat when Mary talks about meeting her future husband "down in Kilfenora". 💞
Captain Acid ohhh yah all over the gaff
@@TrueRomanceIRL you've a Sonic pic....don't talk about cringe
Can't help but remember my grandparents listening to this , and get goose bumps, sounds like simpler times, and you have to envy that ,you have immortalised you're grandmother.. you should be proud great tune !!
unkn0wn player13 what a lovely comment. I well up every time 😭
Whenever I go foreign people ask me what do Irish people sound like.... And I turn on this... !!! Brilliant
I just heard this on 2fm. Ah the old times, reminds me of my granny and grand uncle
Absoluty love when she says 'So no i didn't' and the way she says 'and i fell in love with him, you just know its said with real love,, and that laugh, reminds me of my nan,,, im a man of 27 and i can honestly say i envy the love shared by my grandparents generation :) This song is so beautiful and you have definatly gained a fan here, keep up the great work.
+midnightcell Thanks very much!
midnightcell Beautifully said! You've got such great heart in your written words! Keep that energy going and you'll experience everything wonderful that life has to offer you! 👏
Well said👌
Ya man its a dinger
I think there’s a poignancy to it too though. Most of our mums and grannies did marry the man their father and uncles told them to. Mary was free.
This song makes me love being Irish! From our elders to our love of dance music! A fucking mazing 🙌🏻
+Eoin O'Connor Thanks man!
Im Irish and get chills listening to this! Reminds me of my Nana! 😄
Lovely piece of music, The lady's voice is so comforting it's hard to explain, think it's because it reminds me my own Grandmother
And I fell in love with him, such clear and honest words.
No over emotional tones in her sentence, just straight from the heart.
She was probably sitting by the fire when she was interviewed.
+Neilus Geaney I'm pretty sure she was yep! Thats her house in the picture :)

What's your favourite tune now?
Mary B Keane is Dathi's Grandmother. It is her confessing how she fell in love with her husband. Daithi heard this interview and was taken by how openly Mary spoke about love....what an awesome celebration to your grandparents.....
+Joshua m ......Are you sure?
+Daithí Music www.nme.com/news/nme/89572

Good one
just awesome - truly great.
Thanks Andy!
+Daithí Music I like this a lot maybe a contemporary working of the wonderful oral and music that lives, and brings life to the history of people and place.
Thanks, yeah that's whats really inspiring me at the moment. Dance music is a little bit lifeless sometimes, it's good to add something really different to jump start it
2fm's McDermo brought me here. Comforting yet epic. Like nothin have heard before. Thanks for making.
