I like how this video was relevant before the August 5th patch. Now it's literally all just buckets/splatlings in both ranked modes and you can't do shit against them unless your're a bucket or splatling zzz
I haven't really seen anything about any other items being nerfed/buffed, correct me if i'm wrong, I'm not very good at finding information. I feel like one of the rising problems in this game, is the meta appears to be shaped around a slim selection of weapons that provide no real experience to use, yet offer success. IE. The slosher. Also, I apologize is my first post came off as jaded, it was not intended to be an insult to you or your video :U
Phew~ If anything i'd like to ask on your thoughts of the new weapons and/or what you would consider to be "overpowered" as many opinions obviously vary. :o
I really don't think anything is OP. I've seen good Sloshers and bad Sloshers, good Splatlings and bad Splatlings. You just have to... well, get good at the weapons.
Great job with that video. I did not realize that A+ Ranked battles were that hectic (My only exemples were B ranked from Galm). I hope this will help a lotta persons over the internet. Keep on going !
What worked for me after being stuck for a while was to try abnormal unpredictable tactics which got me straight out of the win lose streak madness, but more importantly what helped me was to be more positive and don't let the frustration get to you.
This is a tip people NEED to know about: When taking back the splat zone, it's very important to ink the surrounding areas in your own ink as much as possible before the enemy wave comes back into the action. It severely slows them down because they have to cover the ground in their own ink again before they can get back to the zone and attack. Leaving the area around the splat zone in enemy ink is a welcome mat to getting your butt kicked and boxed in/splatted in the splat zone. Allowing the enemy to instantly take the zone back again as soon as they regroup. I have lost MANY battles because my teammates never bothered to hamper the enemy's mobility in this way. It isn't just about building the special meter. And doing that buys you precious time. ESPECIALLY when you're depending on overtime.
5:41 Also to add to that its best to simply walk back to the splatzones than super jump and simply pay attention to uninked areas because chances are there may be a possibility of an enemy team member attempting to flank your team and pick them off 1 by 1 or play distraction. And getting pincered(getting pressed from all sides) it the worst thing that can happen as it will be a sure way to lose the match without being able to do anything about it
I'm finally an A rank squid kid and yeah, it was a struggle. For me the key is, not to be afraid to venture deep into enemy territory. Usually gravitate towards e-liter/snipping and now Heavy Splatling/railgun.
May I also add that if you're anticipating an enemy jumping down and you camp them, hide in some ink. I've had a couple of instances where targets have come in and killed me right away because they were sharp enough to see me upon landing. You do have a few seconds before you land in which you can attack: good players usually do this. If rollers land it's likely they'll see you and just stream roll in your direction (or shotgun your face).,
I have stealth jump, it's a great ability when you want to go unnoticed and ink turf to your liking, just have something protective like a bubbler or ink mine (luckily my inkbrush noveua has both) since ink mines can stop anyone that noticed you from getting close and the bubbler can sneak attack or even support teammates without being predictable, but ink resistance is fine too
I use the Ink Brush in ranked battles paired up with the Ninja Squid ability. I just swim in the ink behind an enemy and then do a swift surprise attack and defeat them. I use the Ink Brush to get to the splat zones quickly and to the tower before anyone else from the other team.
I just got the game and tried the rank battles, and one my first time. After that, I have just lost. I am hoping to get somewhat better as I attempt more and probably make many people angry with me. All I can do is practice and hope for the best!
I'm at A- now and it's so hard to get past it. I keep being paired with players that are too afraid to take over the tower, help cover the splat zones, or too afraid to take the rainmaker or abandon me in doing it all myself. It's really frustrating. I feel like I'm the only one actually committing to winning on my teams. I'm a decent player, depending on the weapon and ranked mode, but even so, I feel like I'm doing all the work in most battles.
These tips help those with trouble, and I do have trouble sometimes, I know most of them already, but the real problem is getting players to stop cowering and have courage to jump in there.
hey, I feel the same sometimes. all you do is quit and rejoin another match. if ur lucky, ull be paired with confident people. worked for me even when I was just onto a C+ and still does now!!!
I agree! Often in any ranked battle, i dont even see my team mates close to the splat zones, like they are running around doing something else? Yesturday i went from A- to B+ because of 7 cowardly teams in a row ;.; And if i work alone i just dont have any chance against 4 of the opposite team members
S ranked player here, I still find it amazing how people can play with motion controls. I know it's a personal preference, but I just can't deal with the shakyness motion control brings with it. I personally play oldschool fps style. (lowest sensitivity @ analogs sticks) You mentioned you didn't want to lose your ability to aim when jumping, If somebody who also uses my set up is reading this. The thing about this is, don't jump while in firefights, you should focus on aiming and try to get your opponent fast and clean. When playing like this; Ink resistance, Run speed up, Swim speed up and Ink saver (main) should be the traits to aim for in your gear set-up. Nonetheless, great tips and informative video. Keep it up!
I used to be like you. Turn on motion controls, set the game pad on a flat surface and centre the camera. Motion controls are now 100000x less shaky and more easier to use
Another tip, make sure you adjust your abilities based on your weapon and play style, try to make sure that all the abilities on your gear are "Key Abilities as I call them, these are abilities that do not add upon another stat but instead put a new stat in to the mix, they can only be found on main slots of gear. These include Stealth Jump, Ninja Squid and Tenacity.
I find a spot where the opposite team can't find me, and I ink bomb the land I am supposed to ink. Close to two walls, and 2 ways to enter. An escape route if they do end up finding me.
i rarely use the super jump souly because all my team mates are in the fray/front lines... that and some one needs to hang back to be the rally point for the big 4 squid team pushes. also, i have played with that matthew guy allot when i play. from my exp, he is really good with the "gal"
For non rollers, high sensitivity is a huge pain especially with motion controls. The typical sensitivities for splatters and chargers that I've seen are -2 and -3.
My gear is.... 3 defense, 2 attack, stealth jump, run speed up, ninja squid, and quick respawn. Defense is awesome, and attack is great. I know it could be better but with a gun this loadout is unstoppable!
The only problems i have is when my teammates think its a regular battle and don't go for the middle. Or that one person on the losing team disconnects.. :/
To be honest, as a A+ player, just use a weapon you're extremely good at. That way, you know how to use it and know what you're doing. Capiche? ps i love how at 7:11 a player just slides off
what is your opinion on just turfing in rank. I just like to constantly turf enemies ink so they waste their time inking to the spot instead of focusing on the actual game. it is ironic since I'm basically doing that but I believe it can definitely help the team.
Depend on the mode and stage, im very selective, in turf war i use the slosher, in rainmaker i usually go for a octobrush or a scope, for the tower i use the inkbrush novau to do kamikaze attacks whit the mine, i also use the octobrush and a scope (again) and splat zones i use dual squelcher, kelp splatterscope and the splattershot pro
Inking turf in Ranked is very good in some modes. Tower Control for example. Inking turf can make it to where the enemies cant jump off the tower then reclaim it as soon as you get it. You'll be pretty much scott free for a win. Just try to splat enemies in the process if possible, tho.
these are very helpful really and i do usually follow the aspect of flanking the enemy even before watching this so hearing that just made my tummy tickle...... anyway very helpful for anyone is having a hard time with this game also also screw rollers they are too dam strong
Can I just add this: DON'T JUMP FRANTICALLY. It makes it harder to aim and also it makes it harder for me to splat you, so stop it before I come through the screen and eat you all. I know who you are- damn jumpers. p__p
Canalave Maiden Rollers and Blaster type tend to jump more then the others, jump shots cover more ground with either, but ya fighting one can be tough.
Ken Draken It may cover more ground, but it really isn't what Nintendo intended... They made jump available to traverse ground easier, not so that people could spam it while firing!
I can literally only play 3 to 5 matches before I need a timeout from the game because of how pissed off I get. Like literally they should make it so that if you lose too many 5imes and keep dying you will get a secret boost at dmg or defence. like not a huge one but at least 10% o4 something
Well, about the last one, about leaving and joining afterwards put me from B- to C+ so yea, I always get shitty teammates and from now on, I'm never gonna play splatoon ever again
Hmm. I thought nobody uses the motion controls. I've got to admit there have been a few times where the joystick is aggravating to use. I think I'll high 9 sensitivity motion controls a try. When using motion controls can you also simultaneously use the joystick as well?
Ninja Squid isn't really useful when you get to S+ (I'm speaking from experience) as it's extremely easy to read where your opponent is going to go, I prefer using Cold Blooded and Bomb Sniffer since Cold Blooded makes things like Haunt, Point Sensors, and Echolochater virtually worthless against you since it's gone in seconds, and Bomb Sniffer because you can't be ambushed by Mines or Suction Bombs (well I guess you could if you're not paying attention)
I got the game last summer and hot damn its awesome, but then the slosher shit came in and fucked me and everyone else up the ass, Then they downgraded the splat roller to be less powerful and controlled, What the fuck nintendo? how come I'm always getting the short end of the dick?
+Armin-Senpai ¿ same. i used the squelcher before... (i think thats what it is. its green and has one thingy and no stickers) but splash walls mean nothing to me, but i saw the GLORIOUS splattershot pro. it has more damage and there are real bombs. yee.
How do you feel about bum rushing enemy Squid Beakons? When would you say you should risk your ass destroying them, and when should you just let them have it?
DarklordKyo Depends on where they're placed. If they're on your half of the map, I'd get 'em and try not to die. If they're past the middle of the map on their respective side, then I'd only go for them if no one else was around.
There are some tips that I think should of been in this video or another one. An example is: The ideal weapon/weapons for each individual map, as there aren't that many right now. Or, always keep hold of the ZL button so you have less to think about. But those are my ideas, it depends on what you think.
I thought about the "ideal weapons" for individual maps. However, that tip is ultimately more annoying than helpful since the maps are random and they rotate. Let's say you have a rotation of Kelp Dome and Port Mackeral. Both are radically different maps but the maps are picked at random. Splat Chargers can easily rule Port Mackeral, but can have an utterly terrible time in Kelp Dome, simply due to the design of the map. You have no real control over the map, so the best advice I can give to people is to master their favorite weapon, rather than switching up. It'd be equally obnoxious to leave a group of players EVERY time to switch weapons, too. It's just too troublesome. As for holding the ZL button, that's something I can't really teach or give advice on. I've done it so much that it has become instinct for me to stay a squid most of the time. I dunno. I can't really describe what I'm trying to say, and that's why I can't make a tip out of it.
Good video. I've made it to a minus, i'm currently a b. I wish the jump button was l for those of us that don't use motion controls like myself... seriously, it's not being used.. as much detail as this game got it seems like an oversight.
+Vampirerockstar It isn't broken. They try to match you up with people who are the same rank but if nobody is available, they'll just go to the closest rank to you.
Pablo Akjdshlñg You can only have 99 points on A+. At that point, you can't go any higher. So, nothing but the satisfaction of being with the top percentage of players in the game.
That's an A rank match? It's not what I expected. There is a guy on twitter which is a real A+ rank guy he is super good. The thing though, I would like to know how to be good with the L-3 Nozzlenose. I only found some good use in tower control in some level since everyone is concentrated in one small place.
+Van Nintendo Too true, Ninja Squid is just too slow for my tastes. Since I play a stealthy, defensive way (Brush/Charger main) I get crippled by Echolocators. As a brush, you need to be stealthy and quick. But hey, it's all preference. :)
Heartless Ace Gaming I haven't really played them enough, so not really. I might make a video detailing Tower Control, but I sort of find it doubtful. I guess it depends on your playstyle, though. If you're aggressive with a Roller, try to rush around enemies and attack from behind. Pick off stragglers and whatnot. When I play, I almost never ride the tower if there's a teammate around, and I instead move up further to fight incoming foes. I dunno, though. I never really have a solid strategy for it. It's so hectic and fast-paced.
+Heartless Ace Gaming Put as many Ink Mines as posible on top of the Tower. That way when you die, the other team might bet splatted by your mine, which will give you a lot of time.
Zachary Rosch long range weapon like a .52 cal with splash wall as far as abilities ink saver main, quick respawn(try getting multiple), stealth jump, also special saver cause you will be dieing a lot ninja squid is unless in that mode
I don't have a problem with this but I've done all of this. It's just the japanese players not grabbing it and letting the other team get to the thing. Ugh. They keep leaving me alone. I am glad that Splat Zones I next. I lost my S rank due to them!
When I get angry I switch to turf wars.
Awwww,
That little poor inkling running away from death at 8:02
That was pretty funny
+MrGamer9941 XD lol i see ppl run away from me when i have my scope on them XD
H3its I
I like how this video was relevant before the August 5th patch. Now it's literally all just buckets/splatlings in both ranked modes and you can't do shit against them unless your're a bucket or splatling zzz
ItzAndyArson I should make another. But then the game'll get updated, and who knows what'll get nerfed and buffed?

I really don't think anything is OP. I've seen good Sloshers and bad Sloshers, good Splatlings and bad Splatlings. You just have to... well, get good at the weapons.
This is probably the best spltatoon video I've watched! I'm in love with your play style 8-8. Keep it up!
Great job with that video.

great video, thanks! i just started ranked, im excited to get better

I am gonna study this video super hard. I use Stealth Jump over Ink Resistance, but Imma try to emulate what I saw with the Krak-On Splat Roller here.
I just got the game and tried the rank battles, and one my first time. After that, I have just lost. I am hoping to get somewhat better as I attempt more and probably make many people angry with me. All I can do is practice and hope for the best!

For S rank you have to be very aggressive always remember XD
S ranked player here, I still find it amazing how people can play with motion controls. I know it's a personal preference, but I just can't deal with the shakyness motion control brings with it.

i think a lot of rollers use motion control (Dynamo/Carbon-Main over here) so they can jump while shooting Ink and still keep aiming
I knew evrything but the motion control strat and it helps a lot thx btw nice end battle
Fine tips but ya pretty much tip 6 is get good with your weapon and don't die.
I play with comeback, recon and bomb sniffer with the gold dynamo roller. My favourite map for splat zones with this weapon are the flounder heights^^
Another tip, make sure you adjust your abilities based on your weapon and play style, try to make sure that all the abilities on your gear are "Key Abilities as I call them, these are abilities that do not add upon another stat but instead put a new stat in to the mix, they can only be found on main slots of gear. Don't forget Cold-Blooded.
I needed something like this. Thanks.
You're a very good roller player! I play Kracken roller as well, my best at the moment. A+
I find a spot where the opposite team can't find me, and I ink bomb the land I am supposed to ink. Close to two walls, and 2 ways to enter. An escape route if they do end up finding me.
i rarely use the super jump souly because all my team mates are in the fray/front lines... that and some one needs to hang back to be the rally point for the big 4 squid team pushes.

For non rollers, high sensitivity is a huge pain especially with motion controls. The typical sensitivities for splatters and chargers that I've seen are -2 and -3.
Very helpful video, thanks!
I always do so well in Turf War, but in Ranked Battle, I play so badly...
That one guy squid partying right as you get the knockout
Thank you! This guide got me to S+
I had stealth jump in my gears but when I super jumped, before I got there, the enemy knew where I was and I can see the mark -_-
Great guide, but surprised you didn't mention cold blooded shirt skill as a viable option considering how common echolocator is in ranked.
Capiche?
ps i love how at 7:11 a player just slides off
KNACK IS BACK BABYYYYYY
thx for the video! it was great and helpful. I subscribed! so anyway thx for the vid. loved it
Part where he's showing examples of ninja squid and he's got a tracking ring around him. LOL
what is your opinion on just turfing in rank. I just like to constantly turf enemies ink so they waste their time inking to the spot instead of focusing on the actual game. it is ironic since I'm basically doing that but I believe it can definitely help the team.
Don't be fixated on one thing though
GalaticRush !? Nope. That is me. And that is how I win turf wars a lot. Because I am fixated on one thing
Great vids man!
these are very helpful really and i do usually follow the aspect of flanking the enemy even before watching this so hearing that just made my tummy tickle...... anyway very helpful for anyone is having a hard time with this game
also also screw rollers they are too dam strong
Can I just add this:
DON'T JUMP FRANTICALLY.
Al0neStillAlive What? I can hit them just fine, and I have always preferred the motion controls. :P Git GuD
But Judd told me too :(
Well dont kill me in splat zones or turf war and tower control YA BUTT
Watch me these strats work he says then in the first 15 secounds splatter by 96 gal deco
EVERY TIME I go in ranked, I always get disconnected 😤
I h8 that shit
8:00 It was as this moment that this inkling girl knew, she had fucked up.
dude your voice reminds me of spike from cowboy bebop and i love it
Great video. I subscribed
Thanks this really helps me!
Do you play splatoon 2? If so why don't you upload anymore? I used to love your videos back then!
Thanks for the video.
good tips. thanks
the way I play ranked is:
I use aerospray rg (the gold one I think)
I paint all the turf my team hasnt
and i inkstrike the main objective.
That's an interesting strategy. How has it been working for you? What rank have you gotten to
Can't believe i'm not the only lvl twenty that use's the Krack-on splatroller
Hmm. I thought nobody uses the motion controls. I've got to admit there have been a few times where the joystick is aggravating to use. I think I'll high 9 sensitivity motion controls a try.
When using motion controls can you also simultaneously use the joystick as well?
Jadduck Yes you can use both
Jadduck use right stick to look left and right and the motion controls to look up and down
I'm gonna use these techniches for splatoon 3
Ninja Squid isn't really useful when you get to S+ (I'm speaking from experience) as it's extremely easy to read where your opponent is going to go, I prefer using Cold Blooded and Bomb Sniffer since Cold Blooded makes things like Haunt, Point Sensors, and Echolochater virtually worthless against you since it's gone in seconds, and Bomb Sniffer because you can't be ambushed by Mines or Suction Bombs (well I guess you could if you're not paying attention)
Idk y still why I still watch this video monthly even after splat 2 Came out and I haven’t played in 4 months. Idk video is og
Ink resistance REDUCES damage taken in ink so why isn't it stackable?
Very nice vid!
(i think thats what it is. its green and has one thingy and no stickers) but splash walls mean nothing to me, but i saw the GLORIOUS splattershot pro. it has more damage and there are real bombs. yee.
Armin-Senpai ¿ >:) i will find you and splat your memes
+Armin-Senpai ¿ omfg did you forget the e-liter debuffs
this is bullshit
I honestly hate the splat rollers they just always seem overpowered even with the nerfs
Thank you! I really needed this! Could more Splatoon video's be possible?
Gameplayer Serperior When I get off my lazy ass and decide to record more, yeah. Are you interested in anything in particular?
The Splatfest is this weekend. I was wondering if you could do a video on that?
Gameplayer Serperior I hadn't even considered recording it. Sure, why not?
Nice vid!
scrub roller with motion controls 10/10
Thank you nack I'm really good at ranked and I kinda have a good strategy but it is annoying so I need to be good to be s rank so I won't go down
Do you recover health faster while you're hiding in your own ink?
Nathan Oborne Yes.
Yes
Such is the art of war
Nice vid thx for helping
Dat why I use stealth jump and ninja squid I do tell people but they don't listen
3:39 looks like it wasn't Shulp time XD
i keep dying and i lost my A+ rank and i hate ranked battles because of it
Good video. I've made it to a minus, i'm currently a b. I wish the jump button was l for those of us that don't use motion controls like myself... seriously, it's not being used.. as much detail as this game got it seems like an oversight.
every time I play this I always lose it like what the fuck I just wanna stomp on hell
Thank you!
The tips don't work now I'm c- :(
is c - the lowest? also wow im late
The matching up system is broken whenever Im close to going to B+ I get matched up against A's and A+ wtf sometimes C+ too
+Vampirerockstar
It isn't broken. They try to match you up with people who are the same rank but if nobody is available, they'll just go to the closest rank to you.
rex calibr and hows that fair? yea cause an A+ and is closest to a B
What happen if you reach 100 point on A+ rank?
Pablo Akjdshlñg You can only have 99 points on A+. At that point, you can't go any higher. So, nothing but the satisfaction of being with the top percentage of players in the game.
That's an A rank match? It's not what I expected. There is a guy on twitter which is a real A+ rank guy he is super good. The thing though, I would like to know how to be good with the L-3 Nozzlenose. I only found some good use in tower control in some level since everyone is concentrated in one small place.
Darn ninja squid nerf. :(
Which is why I prefer Cold-Blooded. Ninja Squid sure doesn't help if you're being Echolocated.
QueenofTNT xD so true! They need to rebuff that because no one uses ninja squid anymore.
+Van Nintendo
Too true, Ninja Squid is just too slow for my tastes. Since I play a stealthy, defensive way (Brush/Charger main) I get crippled by Echolocators. As a brush, you need to be stealthy and quick. But hey, it's all preference. :)
QueenofTNT :(
+QueenofTNT run cold blooded invest in swim speed
And if ur teammate has the circle or WUTEVER stay there and portect them so enemy's will not kill em
thanks for the tips ive already got A- fyi use motion controls also
Any tips for tower control ranked battle?
That way when you die, the other team might bet splatted by your mine, which will give you a lot of time.
i use all these tip's but i learned them by myself if that ain't skill i don't know what is
If you are a charger or E-liter tenacity is good because your going to be alive more
Can you. Do a video for tower control?
Zachary Rosch long range weapon like a .52 cal with splash wall as far as abilities ink saver main, quick respawn(try getting multiple), stealth jump, also special saver cause you will be dieing a lot ninja squid is unless in that mode
good tips. thanks
My recommendations are Inkbrush Noveau, Slosher, or a blaster.
Im mostly C+ only because I get bad teams and connection errors make you LOOSE points :l
Is the aereo spray rg good
I'm an S+ but I love it when I go back to a rank like B. Why? It's just cause I wanna see how they play 😂
I don't have a problem with this but I've done all of this. It's just the japanese players not grabbing it and letting the other team get to the thing. Ugh. They keep leaving me alone. I am glad that Splat Zones I next. I lost my S rank due to them!
Speak for yourself, enemy ink doesn't like me when im angry.
I see you changed to roller ;) btw what is you're nintendo ID
darkman3529 My NNID is Nack289
I've been playing this game for a week an I'm a "S" ranked player...best advice is know you can't be beat. you have to make the win happen
I have to learn to play with motion controls but its so damn hard!
Try playing through the campaign with it. Or try the amiibo challenges with it. It helps a lot.
You may not 're doing a video and tips to be playing with the roller, with roller People do lose every game. 1 roller = LOSE
Are you the voice actor for guitar hero tutorials?
