Awesome indeed. An outstanding piece of documentary film-making. It almost transports you to the Island. Beautiful.

most people dont realise the fact that the accent/dialect (not meaning african rooted vocabulary, thats different) with which english is spoken in the Caribbean is almost directly rooted to the massive wave 1000,000 of irish prisoners, women and children whom were brought and put to work along with african imported slaves.

Is this been taught in schools in Montserrat? Why wasn't this taught in Irish and Brirish schools. It should be taught in every school. I doubt very much if many people (not even the Irish themselfs) knows or heard about this.I find it so very interesting and very moving. Thank you for putting this on RUclips.

@@NipperM846 St Aengus, Tallaght...we were taught about irish Slaves being sent to The Caribbean Islands, Australia, New Zealand and other places.
We were taught about how we were enslaved in America and how we were put on the 1st wave Frontline in The War of independence there, also how The English put us on " The Charge" Frontline in France in WW1.
We were Lucky in the 70's and 80's because most teachers didn't have to follow the very strict Curriculum that is in schools today. We were taught knowledge that they personally knew.

@@CHIBBZ-54 As a matter of interest what year/years were you taught about Irish slaves? As it wasn't taught in every school when I was there.

English (of Norman origin): habitational name from any of the various places in northern France called Saint-Pierre, from the dedication of their churches to St. Peter (see Peter). Eastern German: from a medieval personal name Sindperht, from sind 'journey' + berht 'shining'.
