These videos are jam packed with great information!! Thank you so much April! I have a 17 month old fear reactive mini Aussie. Since we got him a year ago, he has really improved with lots of encouragement. I also found that making sure he gets plenty of exercise and structured training and activities has really helped to build his confidence. I had to stop coddling him! I thought bc he was so anxious that telling him “it’s ok” etc was the right thing to do but I was only reinforcing his fears.

This seems so much better than being nervous while introducing dogs. I’m happy to learn the right way to introduce dogs.

Loved this! You seem like a great trainer April. I also am partial to dogs who seem aggressive or super reactive, like when walking by their fence. Almost every time, if I get my puppy to act correctly and I project confidence in the interaction, the other dog calms and is actually happy for the interaction because they know they have no reason to fear it. My pup now has some bff's throughout the neighborhood that get very excited for the daily interaction. A lot of people who have dogs that seem really aggressive and reactive don't understand that it's their own behavior that reinforces the behavior in the pup. Great video that more owners definitely need to see. That boerboel puppy was absolutely gorgeous! I love that the owner is being proactive in the training as that's not a breed for the faint of heart haha.

Thank you. Many people tell me they have a COVID puppy which means it didn't get socialized. But the truth of the matter is, it starts with our genetics. And then yes, the owner's energy project onto the dogs. But well, bred, dogs could never be socialized and tied up for a year. And the first person they meet they say hey you want to be my friend. That's genetics but the cool thing is with The energetic K9 Connection technique we can help the dog and the owner. I'm excited to share these new techniques. Try the #PupTappin & #Perps2PupsK9Connection & let us know how it goes. I'm looking to build a certification program so we can have more people help these misunderstood dogs safely, & quickly! Thank you for saving, 1 dog at a time & have this friends watch this. Even if they don't do the energetics they'll still be a step ahead and they'll be happier dogs.

When I learned it from this video is how to do a meet and greet with all the dogs and that it’s OK for the dogs not to meet all the dogs if they don’t want to. We shouldn’t force them.

Sometimes you have to push the dog past their boundaries or they will Always choose to not progress any further. Do it making sure they do not get hurt. Using the PupTappin helps a lot & this should let you know that it'd be beneficial doing the K9omg with your pup on that issue.

In a scenario where you may have your dog in the yard, and theres a dog in the yard next door or walking on the street, how do you hadle the situation? I have tried correcting the negative reactions and even inviting positive reaction without getting nervous myself, but these scenarios seem to set off my dog and she wont disengage.

If its a neighbor dog also try correcting them with an ultra sonic. Him barking at your dog is like say, "Hey Im gonna kick your butt", and is rude. You can also use a neg. marker, Eht. And dont forget to praise him if he quits.
I would try the #Peeps2PupsK9Connection #K9OMG with her. Please keep a good log sheet so I can use it for my book. You get that off my web site under more papers. k911academy.com And Please let us know how it goes.
Also learn the PupTappin so you can stop any new peptides from forming causing another layer of trauma. Do this at a distance before she hits the red zone, PupTappin her out several times. Praise her for being calm. Try again later seeing if you can get closer. Keep records & good luck. The dogs walking by with owners are tricky without ticking them off.

my 100 pound fur rocket loves all dogs, but they dont love her. She gets bitten as she is overly friendly. But this is a good exercise. I still think little yappy dogs are the problem. You train your dog every day and then a yappy comes along.

Yes, And you have the right to protect your dog so carry a squirt bottle and correct them from Yelling at her that they're going to kick her butt. But make sure you praise them when they're quiet. And you can also tell your dog that those are bad dogs that are yipping at you so she doesn't react to them.
And your dog may have overjoyed if she shows any other signs such as barking a lot, cowering up to dogs or peeps, startles easily. And that is hidden fear. And especially if she's not listening and they bite her.

Also if another dog has to actually bite than you're pup pushed them past their boundary & just helped them with another layer of trauma so they will stay sensitive. We should correct OUR dogs for being too pushy because when you say nothing at all, we're telling them that behavior is acceptable & they do not learn proper boundaries from their pack leader. :) .

True that, That is WHY our community ASCMV & ACO should hold one of these FREE WORKSHOPS. Especially after the 1st reported bite and an 8 week socialization, behavioral, & obedience classes like they are supposed to be fulfilling with NMSA 77-1A-5(8).
