As an Australian, we very much try to avoid being near emus unless they're on the other side of a very tall fence. I'm in awe of the fact that you're willing to wrangle those terrifying dinosaurs, you're an absolute badass! Just don't get a cassowary, okay? Think Karen with longer talons and a bony weapon growing out the top of her head, on crack and steroids.
Yup cassowaries are stunningly beautiful murderous birds. Large emus can be very difficult and intimidating drpending in breeding. Hats off to you. I would have backed off by now. Karen is a handful. I take it she inflicts bites if not apprehended.

If it has been trained by a knowledgeable soul well snd good. Being rescues we don’t know their background. Like humans their personalities vary. Karen is unbelievable. Have so much respect for her owner. As with all animals you have to be wary. I can say my uncle was almost eviscerated by a pet male emu who changed when undergoing puberty. He lived to tell the tale. Emu did not. BTW I am Australian and well versed with emus. They lived in bushy areas around our farm. They run fast.
When they run, they look like they’re constantly trying to balance 100 hats on their head, but really it’s just their long upper bodies balancing on their two dinosaur feet.
I loved how when they were running toward you that Stanley slowed down and swerved to avoid you, but Karen... she sped up, zeroed in, and ran for your face. Oh, well. Karens gotta Karen.

We had a male Toulouse goose when my kids were younger he was awesome. Someone had gotten him as a baby for Easter and we had a pond so they asked if they could bring him over. They had a minivan and they opened the door he hopped off the seat and came outside. He loved our ducks and he guarded their babies. He would go swimming with my kids. He fell in love with one of our Indian runner ducks, when she passed away, he never chose another girlfriend. They mate for life.

I hatched my first houseduck, Wobbles, but his girlfriend Bean was a rescue where this woman just let her ducks wander around her front yard, not caring if any of them got eaten or run over, which happened fairly regularly. :/ For this reason, poor Bean is absolutely terrified of her own shadow. Literally. She's freaked out seeing her own shadow at least twice so far. Now that she's grown up, she's still the most neurotic thing you've ever seen (she will side-eye a feather she just preened from her own body mere seconds ago), but she will magically find her courage and spontaneously turn into a mini-Karen if anyone tries to touch her man, Wobbles. 😂 She's so fiercely protective of him, she'll lower her head and charge whenever I pick him up. Wobs is imprinted on me, so we have a sort of love triangle going on. She will give me SO much sass over that. So. Much. Sass. Do you have any houseducks, or are all your beautiful chooks and duccos outdoor only?

I love seeing the relationships each animal has with another. You can really see their personalities shine. Half our animals are well, assholes and the others thinks they are one of the kids. We have 5 boys who we are raising to know about responsibilities etc. *ALL* the animals baby our youngest who is 2. It's amazing to see how they are treat him like one of their babies but they bully the rest of the kids 🤣 I tell them that they are getting a taste of their own medicine, when they drive me crazy all day 😄

What was the first animal you rescued? What made you start the farm? I lived on a pheasantry as as a teen and the peacocks were mean as hell, especially when snagging their eggs. You have a wit that's hilarious but mad respect for all you do. Animals can't speak for themselves.

Lisa do you really miss being our 5aking care of your babies. Until age and a broken neck slowed me down I had a really useless farm. Kids, critters, laughter. Oh how I miss it. My pheasants provided feathers for crafting. Guinea hens guarded 24 hours a day. Doves brought so much peace for all with the cooing and nesting. So many babies. The canaries sang their beautiful songs. I had a small rescue in the bay area. Specialty was Raptors!! I took in any sitter that needed help. Raised 3 boys. Life is good. Thank you Jesus for a wonderful and unique life filled with the blessings of animals in my life

What was the first animal you rescued? What made you start the farm? I lived on a pheasantry as as a teen and the peacocks were mean as hell, especially when snagging their eggs. You have a wit that's hilarious but mad respect for all you do. Animals can't speak for themselves.

Lisa do you really miss being our 5aking care of your babies. Until age and a broken neck slowed me down I had a really useless farm. Kids, critters, laughter. Oh how I miss it. My pheasants provided feathers for crafting. Guinea hens guarded 24 hours a day. Doves brought so much peace for all with the cooing and nesting. So many babies. The canaries sang their beautiful songs. I had a small rescue in the bay area. Specialty was Raptors!! I took in any sitter that needed help. Raised 3 boys. Life is good. Thank you Jesus for a wonderful and unique life filled with the blessings of animals in my life
