@@ShadeReactsLive The skeleton dancers never pretended to play. It was an inside joke. The drummer had rubber drumsticks. None of the guitars looked real. It wasn't an attempt to deceive. It was comedy.
Thanks for the reaction… so much more for you to discover! Omagination makes some great compilation and fan-cam videos (including the one with the security guards), so I’m sure you’d enjoy checking out her channel.
One of the most unique things about Babymetal is being able to see all the SG videos, so you really get a sense of their personalities and can actually watch them grow from little kids to the super women they are today.
Commenting up front, I know this will be fun, just wanted to say thanks again for sharing so much as you experience this band. It's so enjoyable. Thank You! **edit** quick comment on you seeing the fox statues at one of their concerts -- it's worth finding all their concerts, just the stagecraft is brilliant. There are so many incredible stages. **edit2** gimme chocolate is excellent, but the 200m views viral version is also often the first thing someone finds and it is not a great indication of who they are as a band - absolutely worth watching if for no other reason than because it was such a benefit to them as a band. A few songs to add to the end of your list, when/if you feel like checking any out. They are likely one-shots (there isn't the kind of depth of years of performance behind them) but all have reasons to watch beyond just excellent BM live; they show some part of the range of their music: * "Oh Majanai!" -- Sabaton collaboration, Su-Metal's favorite song to perform. Scandanavian Folk Metal? * "Amore (live from Wembley)" -- first japanese band to play Wembley, and just a straight up great Su-Metal solo * "Metalizm" -- because of course they also do Egyptian Metal Core * "Shanti Shanti Shanti" -- Indian influence metal?
dont feel like a fool for that one blunder! me and my wife were loving how much you were able to put together while watching. also rondo of nightmare and akatsuki are 2 of my favorite
I wanna say thanks for doing these daily videos and giving us all some entertainment to look forward to each day! Loving your reactions and how much you’re really into and loving your Babymetal journey! 👊🏻🦊🤘🏻
Now you did it, finally! You should start from Doki Doki Morning, the official video. And Gimme choco, of course. If you do Band Maid, don't start with the new ones, because you can't appreciate the evolution of the band. Misa (bass), Mincho (gtr) and Akane "The Gorilla" Hirose (drums) will blow your mind. You got plenty of bands you can explore: Nemophila, Bridear, Aldious, Unlucky Morpheus, Hanabie. Now you got a new subs. Cheers from Argentina!
Great to hear you're diving into other Japanese bands too. They're great and unique in their own ways. While BABYMETAL are still my favorite I'd highly recommend NEMOPHILA, who also has cover of Megitsune
The Su laugh at 13:02 is the best thing ever! One thing that the guide doesn't really talk about is Moa has been called the Angel of Love and Yui the Angel of Dance. If you want to do some SG reactions, I would recommend the mini patti song that the guide showed. Super kawaii! You have quite a few songs to catch up on. I am glad to be a part of your journey.
"Gimme Chocolate" is their hugest song in terms of success. The official live video has like 200 million views as of today (it had 186M when I watched it first like 4 months ago so people still hit it consistently) The reason no one has recommended it yet is cause is far from their best song, but is a big part of BM history and I'm sure we all love it anyway. You have to do it eventually. Is not a bad song at all, just too obvious for BM fans. Is a permanent song in their concerts still today and always celebrated.
What changed in the logo? Let's see how the logo was created first: there are three key components in the original one, the heart ❤ shaped hole in the letter B (a real pink ❤ in the very first draft), the little skull 💀 and the wings. When they were practicing in the first year at SG, MOA used to wear a black T-shirt with ❤❤❤ on it, while YUI had a black one with exactly the same 💀 that later they included in the logo, they can be seen wearing those ones in the Motteke Sailor Fuku rehearsal video. As for the wings 🪽, they brought them from the second song of SU first group, Karen Girls, so they represents SU, as the ❤ MOA and the 💀 YUI. So, in the new logo they ditched the ❤ and the 💀, and reshaped the 🪽🪽 now properly symmetrical. More polished, less personal, but I'd say a kind move toward MOMO 😊. As they said many times, they don't want to cut their past away, of course, but they wanted to mark a new era with MOMOMETAL and make her as comfortable as possible. 🤘🦊⚡️
Another wonderful voyage into the metalverse with you (and where was princess Isla?) into the Metalverse. This really is an entertaining and informative guide. Through watching it and watching it with other reactors, it's still not gotten old. And I agree there is something about seeing the ladies histories that just gives a nice human connection many of us will never have any other way. I know a lot of us have commented from the beginning as a RUclipsr that it's been pretty amazing how quickly you've picked up so much about BM. And I think it's cool how you got that confirmation yourself through watching the guide. You've no doubt picked up at this point what a difference the version of the song/performance you watch is. You mentioned a couple of songs and I wanted to add my own two cents on which are the generally best thought of versions should you get to them. First off: *Pa Pa Ya*. This song has an "official" live video meaning it's studio audio synced over live performance.IMO a vastly superior pro shot totally live version is better for the true live experience. It can be a little hard to track down. But here's the link to that version of Pa Pa Ya (same concert as the "official" but really live): BABYMETAL | Pa Pa Ya!! (ft. F.HERO) | LIVE in Japan (4K) ruclips.net/video/rt5Zfxijfcg/видео.html&start_radio=1 Then on *Akatsuki* there is one performance from 2014/15 (?) Where Su is great and there is a fantastic full on guitar focus between the lead guitars (here Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura) that is just spectacular: Akatsuki: ruclips.net/video/g2372C5PJLM/видео.html Finally *Metali* (FYI: featuring Tom Morello who never actually plays on stage with them but in live performances is on the backdrop). To my eye and ear the best and most exciting live version of Metali, Legend MM Live 2024. Alas with the demise of For the Fox God this version does not seem to be available anymore (at least I haven't been able to find it). The MV of this is very good and the official live version with live sound is also very good. This mv is the first mv Momo got to be in. And in live performance her presence in the song has just grown. Watch the mv and the live and you'll spot the difference-i'm only gonna say "growl". Metali, live at Summer Sonic 2023 again IMO is the best still available version of this. And it's got their full stage set-up which the official live at Nexfest doesn't. Plus much more of a rock and roll classic ending to the song than the mv. Babymetal, Metali, Live Summer Sonic 2023: ruclips.net/video/uysfLFpzdi8/видео.html Hope these suggestions may help in making your reactions.
Awesome, you finally made it to the guide video, glad to see! Seeing the history and evolution has made me appreciate BM much more as a newer fan from 2023. I can only imagine how rough it was being a fan of BM from 2017 to 2021, all the craziness of Yui leaving, Mikio passing, and not know if BM was done for good. The main logo change was the removal of the hearts in the letters and the baby skull in the top right, the new logo being more streamlined and "mature" looking as the girls are adults now. At the end of the PIA Black Night show it was very sad seeing the montage video on the big screen showing BM over the years with Yui, closing out their old era and starting a new one, I'm sure it was very emotional for the girls and older long time BM fans. Then ending the show with Momo being announced with the crowd going crazy with joy knowing BM's future is bright. Even as a newer fan I was emotional watching both of the PIA shows on my bluray. So here is a few recommendations for videos in whatever order: - Leave it All Behind by F.Hero x Babymetal x Bodyslam , MV and there is a live version with a decent fancam - Behkauf by Bloodywood x Babymetal (just released in December 2024) only the MV, not done live yet. - Brand New Day (Fox Fest 2024 live w/ Tim and Scott) - Starlight, Shine, Arkadia from the Metal Galaxy album, all 3 together are considered the "Trilogy of Lights", Starlight is one of my favorite songs (Starlight has an official MV too) - Kagerou (Legend MM version is my favorite) this is one of my top 5 songs, the girls are so serious and intimidating when they perform this, the Kami band solo intro is amazing too. - Distortion (official music video is actually amazing, movie quality CGI) Legend MM or PIA version live. - for a non music video recommendation I'd say a Sakura Gakuin Nendo test collection video, they are really funny stuff, the SG teacher is so hilarious with the girls.
You have to listen to Rondo of Nightmare!!! Sumetal is full peak on this song!!! Since this was Sumetal's song, Moametal and then Yuimetal aren't on stage. However there is a sick-ass Kami band intro with individual solos!! Rondo of Nightmare is one of my top Babymetal song faves!
For Akatsuki there are 2 versions, the regular and the unfinished ver. I left you a link to the unfinished version on the BM Death video. Men have teared up while watching it, as well as her performance of No Rain No Rainbow from the Legend S concert.
Part of the thing with the "undisclosed health issue" for Yui is that Amuse works really hard to maintain the girl's privacy. I'm sure if Yui wanted to say something it would be allowed but this way she gets to have a semi-normal life.
Super happy you're going through this guide. I've talked with the guy who made the video, and he honored SG just the right amount. Of course, he was an SG fan too. A few things many westerners don't know is that in Japanese culture, school is very important. So even those who are in idol groups still have to go to their regular school, and idoling would be like an extra curricular activity. For some, after they do the idolilng thing, they could leave the industry and go do whatever they want to do. Sakura Gakuin was a training cadre for Amuse's top talent, where when they graduate out at 15 years old, they can go off and do whatever they want to do. Of the 36 graduates, some have remained in the industry, or various aspects of it, one became a nurse, some leave the industry and live normal lives, and so on. So being an idol isn't the ONLY thing they do. And for some, they just want to do it for a few years and go off doing something else. Another thing westerners don't know is that the japanese culture values privacy and courtesy. That's why there is no information on the girls' private lives. The only time we seem them is when they are in costume. There is no social media presence at all, ever. So when Yui retired due to health reasons, many people couldn't let it go and is still a topic of contention nowadays. People just can't let it go that we don't know anything about Yui. She's left the limelight, let her live her life and move on. But it is speculated that she messed up her back when she fell off the stage during a performance (I believe it was the second time she fell off the stage, not the first time at the Budokan performance). People noticed that during her last few performances, her face was swollen due to the pain meds she was taking. And she was also wearing a back brace that restricted her movements a little. Moa compensated by also moving stiffly to mimic her. A bit of trivia, Mama Kikuchi told Moa that if she didn't keep up with her schoolwork, no more Babymetal. Suzuka commuted from her home town Hiroshima to Tokyo on a weekly basis on the bullet train (about a 5 hour ride each way) to be in SG in the first year or two. One final thing about SG and the age of the girls. Amuse is one of the top agencies, and they treated their performers well in contrary to the image of poor working conditions and treat of the performers. Most of the girls lived at the Amuse dorms, and everything they do is with their parents' oversight an permission. Every teacher there cares about the girls very much and took good care in support of them physically, mentally, and emotionally. Edited: The new BM logo no longer had the heart, which was representative of Moa, the skull was Yui's, and the lightning bolt for the M was part of Suzuka's signature.
@@ShadeReactsLive She would leave right after school on Friday, stay in the dorms until Sunday night and then go home. Later on she moved to Tokyo with her Mom. Suzuka's dad was a session musician, guitarist I believe.
@@Codametal At that time Su's dad had retired from music and was running the family construction business in Hiroshima. He had previously been the bassist for the band Hooligans.
The "elaborate set design" with the huge fox heads is from the "Legend S" show. The performance of the intro song "In the Name of" is indeed absolutely epic!
It is one of, if not the coolest and most jawdroppingly good way to start a concert that I have seen. It is hard to find that one on RUclips, but it is a must to react to that one🦊🤘
Nice one, Whiskey-metal Interaction videos These kind of interaction videos are mainly fan cams and you can find them via YT Shorts Though I think the channel Omajination has some Shorts and Fan Cam compilations Cake for Momo's Birthday? Na... Moa would eat it; there are some videos out there, showing Moa's passion for food/cake while still in Sakura Gakuin. Also there is a Video at a concert end, where Su gets presented with a Birthday cake and you can Moa see, glancing longingly at it; it is a good one to watch Song "Gimme chocolate": It is a gimmicky song, which can be hit-or-miss; so it is not commonly suggested by The One to new listeners, unless they chose it themselves. You could do a multiparter again, the official Music Video, one early performance and a new one. Yes, you barely scratched the surface of the songs Babymetal has. So, I look forward to more Babymetal from you. As I am looking forward to any others of your reactions.
The Tales of the Destinies stage is at the Tokyo Dome. That smaller rotating stage that appears during Song 4 is from Budokan 2014. The best version of Akatsuki to react to is the one from that show.
I've enjoyed your reactions so much - and this one too. When I dove down the Sakura Gakuin foxhole in 2013, it was, for me, a way of watching the girls grow up and see their talents develop. It's not for everyone for sure, and of course the fact that Su, Yui, and Moa were in it was the major factor in my interest. As for Yui, when she left, it was an earthquake in the fandom, since she was so popular. Thanks for your reactions so far !
Nicely done. The Metal Galaxy Album is a double CD set. one side being the light side, mostly lighter type music. The other side being heavy type music. With that said all of it is still a blend of genres anyway. When they took their break, it went on longer than expected because covid broke out around the world. Some wondered if live concerts were going to be a thing of the past. And that's the bread and butter of Babymetal. Lucky for us covid died down enough for Music to return to the stage. Which meant the return of Babymetal to their metal kingdom. The stage in front of a live audience. I'm glad you felt there were still a lot of songs for you to react to. They've been around for some time, but Babymetal Um Su will not release a song until she is ready to do so. I bet that has rubbed off on Moa as well. One of the reasons why Babymetal only has four albums, and some solo releases is because of their perfectionist attitude to their music. Plus, they have to add in choreography before they perform it as well. Like a fine wine it be released all in due time. I gotta say I hope they release a new album this year with Momo on it. They are taking a break now. Or at lease what they call a break. But I heard they will be hosting a radio show in Japan on Fridays while on break. These ladies I think feel they had enough rest while on that covid break.
Awesome reaction! Been looking forward to this but had to put it off due to all the holiday travels. You asked about if there are fun videos to see - YES! Here are my two channel suggestions: *Omajination:* She has a ton of well made fan videos and shorts. Such as “When Security Guards Discover Babymetal”, “Su Screaming in 16 Languages”, “Every Megitsune / Metali Hengao from _________ Tour” (Moa/Momo messing with each other or Su), and many more. *ANNIE_METAL_YAO:* She’s a Taiwanese fan with tons of amazing fan cam compilations of funny on-stage moments. You’ll see things like Moa hiding Su’s mic until absolutely last minute before Su’s vocals is supposed to start, or tons of clips of fans throwing stuffed animal gifts to Moa due to her comment of her stuffed animal she travels with in that one interview you saw 😂. Basically, a lot of Moa messing with her “big sis” Su 🤣. Hope you get a chance to react to these! It really highlights the chemistry of the 3 ladies outside of their “structured” stage personas, and at times, the Kami Band members joining in on the fun too! 🤘🦊
Good job. 'Gimme Chocolate' is a great song and one of their fun ones - but it is not one I would recommend to most people (especially metalheads) until they have become familiar with or got used to what BABYMETAL do. So maybe 5 or 6 songs in at least - possibly sooner with a real live performance and audio, no sooner if they go to the official mv. It is a very important song, it got them a whole lot of attention early on, but where some people loved it right from the start probably as many just dismissed BABYMETAL as a gimmick because of it and it was (and remains) the only BABYMETAL song they ever heard (and based on some comments and reactions some people seem incapable of hearing anything other than Gimme Chocolate regardless of what song is actually playing).
I am definitely going to listen to it and see how I respond with all this context ahead of time. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but I’m intrigued with all the “gimmick” comments.
@@ShadeReactsLive I'm sure you will enjoy it - I'm not so sure you would have if it was the first thing you'd heard (as I said, some people loved it straight away, too many didn't).
Alright, you need a sample of what the girls did with SG at the same time they were starting Babymetal. I recommend Mini Pati "wonderful hamburger" and SG "Friends" original official MV.
I think no one has recommended Gimme Chocolate because everyone's heard it to death. :) Btw, you should definitely check out Doki Doki Morning, their first - and at the start, only - song. There wouldn't be a Babymetal without it. Oh, and the Mini Pati cooking club is great, they had a very sprightly style of jazzy pop. Fun detail: at the 2010 Sakura Gakuin festival where Babymetal went live for the first time, if you look at the setlist the group going on immediately before them were Mini Pati, and just before that, Twinklestars -- and Moa and Yui were members of all three. So they went onstage spinning batons, offstage to get their chefs hats on, back onstage, then off again to change into Moametal and Yuimetal. Phew!
Btw, regarding the third member: A part of the fanbase always kept speculating that Yuimetal would eventually return to the band, and would try hard to interpret everything that way. They've mostly gone silent after the introduction of Momometal, but even with that (now rather obvious) "mysterious face" glimpsed in the Other One snippets there were some who really wanted to see it as Yui.
You also have to check out there other collabs! They are all awesome! You already know the ones with Bring Me The Horizon and Electric Callboy so please check out these others: PA PA YA!!! featuring Thai Rapper F-Hero (the live performance) Leave It All Behind, an F-Hero song featuring Babymetal and Thai rock band, Bodyslam (the official F Hero music video) Their latest collab that dropped a few weeks ago is BEKHAUF, a song by Indian metal band, Bloodywood, featuring Babymetal. The music video is a freaking ANIME!!!! (The official Bloodywood music video) These are all legit bangers!!!
Thanks for this reaction. Sakura Gakuin is a teaching tool, they took their most talented girls and put them in a group, so they can give them more experience in singing, dancing, doing and giving interviews, hosting TV shows, modeling, photography, acting, etc. What you saw were the sub-groups, 'extracurricular activities clubs', which have a theme like the heavy music club and cooking club. Yes, I think it's possible Babymetal rejected request to be used for an anime. Suzuka's sister was semi-successful and never reached the top so she got frustrated and noticed she had mental issues. Mental health is still very much underappreciated in Japan, maybe even still taboo for many people. So eventually she quit and is now a full-time psychological counselor, helping especially those in the entertainment industry. And talking very publicly about mental health thus teaching and normalizing it in Japan. A TV program claimed there was an increase in the number of albums sold for metal in Japan (both foreign and domestic), so not just Babymetal but probably caused by Babymetal. Yes, Babymetal was the first to introduce dance in metal, we only had things like headbanging and mosh pits as the traditional 'dances' of metal and those are often more done by the audience than the performers. But more importantly: Kobametal wanted to have people from outside of metal, because that way they would bring their own ideas and thus would lead to original ideas. You might not like the babybones, but there is 1 aspect of the babybones: I think it would have been the best job in the world ! You can't really make any mistakes. That said: turns out that even though it wasn't requested by Kobametal, they practices intensely. 31:38 yep, same song/dance. The biatus of the girls, especially Su and Moa was after more than 10 years of going to school and university and performing around the world at the same time (and also being in SG before that), they had long planned for a break after 10 years.
Himeka is now a mental health counsellor and has a radio show in Japan where she offers advice. Su has another older sister but she has never been involved in show business and, as far as I know, we don’t even know her name. Her dad was in a punk rock band and it is from him that Su inherited the beautiful ears that she is rightly proud of.
28:41 that was the stage for Su-Metal's 20th birthday celebration concert in 2017, called «Legend-S XX Baptism». The first time Yuimetal couldn't perform anymore 😔
A lot of fans have said they have grown weary of Gimme Chocolate, but it is the song that put them on the map. I have seen them 10 times since 2019, and it is well-received by the crowd, and it hits hard every time. They performed it on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where you get a good look at the Kami Band. Link: ruclips.net/video/o0ERg64grnY/видео.html
Ok that's VERY funny. Guy gets like 12 videos in before he even hears about Gimme Chocolate's popularity because he's listening to hardcore fan recommendations only, and they are tired of the song's popularity.
@@ShadeReactsLive Nah, it was never suggested because you started with their latest stuff. People are afraid you might be put off by it and not continue to listen to them. But now that you're hooked....8-)))
@@ShadeReactsLive It's literally the viral hit that put them into the Western mind, it set up their 2014 European tour. It is an auto-include in every concert set-list. If the girls do a new media appearance and just perform 1 song, it's usually always Gimme Chocolate. They were just guest stars in a comedy movie called Heavier Trip this year playing themselves, what song did they perform in the movie? You guessed it. Fortnite just added Babymetal music to an area of the map! What song are they playing? You guessed it. It's a banger for sure, but it probably isn't making a lot of top 5 lists in the hardcore fan's minds (mine included) due to over-saturation.
That video in the beginning of the Momo introduction was when she competed on a Korean reality show to be a member of a K-pop girl group. She introduced herself by playing a Blackpink song on a kazoo.
good reaction! Yeah! Metali is Momometal favorite song not only because is a good song. Metali is her first official song like Momometal, her first music video and her first solo part. Momometal love plays, and in this song Momoko have a Kabuki play solo, that is amazing! a recommend react to de Music video and live too.
Babymetal's songs with F.Hero are great! You might want to do a double of feature of Pa Pa Ya and Leave It All Behind. I know they performed Pa Pa Ya live with him also. The Leave It All Behind video has proper english subs too! 😉👍
Loving your embrace of everything BABYMETAL, here’s a link to the MOMOMETAL announcement… Wait until you hear the roar of the crowd…ruclips.net/video/_276UU_5GdI/видео.htmlsi=89IH-z9QPkuxX96c
10:23 what about, hear me out, you listen all 4 Su-Metal's solo songs in a single video, and then listen to all 4 MoiMoi (that's how Yui + Moa are called together) or Black Babymetal songs in another video. Akatsuki has many versions, but the main versions you should focus on are: Unfinished, 2014 Budokan, and 2021 Budokan. For Black Babymetal's songs, GJ, and Onedari Daisakusen there are versions with Moametal solos in 2021 Budokan, but you should listen to the versions with Yuimetal as well.
Wow!!! There was something running on the down low in my subconcious mind for ages (a die hard BM kitsune since late 2011) about the Sakura Gakuin school concept and I think you nailed it with the analogy to Hogwarts. Specialized training for the young to proceed to full fledged (entertainment) careers. First time watcher of your channel - immediate sub and I'm only about 1--15% in...
Gimme Chocolate is often considered not the best way to get into Babymetal as the song leaves many people rather confused. This happened to me two years ago when a friend showed me that video. I forgot about them until I was about to see them live as support for Sabaton and I dug deeper getting ready for the concert.
I’m pretty sure many anime productions had tried to get BabyMetal to perform a song for an opening, but it is known Koba Metal has tried to keep the girls away from that. But Suzuka has indeed performed an anime song, as the video explained, also in Baby Metal early years Suzuka performed a cover of en Evangelion opening, the song is called Tamashii no rufuran. About Su’s sister, she left the entertainment industry and became a psychological advisor. Also, their father, Hiroaki Nakamoto, used to be a musician too, he played the bass guitar on a band called The Hooligans, and released a single EP called U-Soldier.
@@ShadeReactsLive From 2011 to 2017 Himeka was a first generation member of Nogizaka46, one of the most successful idol groups in Japan. The group still exists today.
28:47, LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX - LIVE AT HIROSHIMA GREEN ARENA concert... Yea, the name is extreme, so badass. Sadly this one is like the toughest to react because of Copyright issues, even more so than the Tokyo Dome live I'd say and I canʼt even remember a video having nice quality that was uploaded to YT of this said concert, but you can watch the whole thing on your own if you want so through certain links let's say, in my opinion itʼs their most gorgeous live set in terms of aesthetic and sound quality as well, I especially love MOAʼs performance of GJ!, it's too cutesy ☺️, also the song Syncopation is classic, SU sounds surreal as always, especially in Akatsuki. Also, do not forget Sis. Anger, I have this song as my alarm to wake up early in the morning lol, that's all I'm going to say...
32:18 babymetals cover of animation with you or “Kimi to anime ga mitai” they did is absolutely one of my favorite songs they’ve done, you gotta check it out, the live version at budokan black night. Sooooo good
Yea, my favourite songs as well. I am just sad it is so hard to play on the guitar with rocksmith, the rhythm is a bit fast and complicated. Probably should train the rhythm at slow speed first.
Gimme Chocolate has 200 million views on RUclips. I’d say pretty big lol. It’s their most famous song but so ubiquitous that many fans overlook it. It’s pretty awesome but it’s BABYMETAL so of course it’s awesome.
^^^ Ahhhhh this might be why I havent had it recommended. Seems like most folks here are super-fans. A gimmicky song is probably not what I would recommend to someone either. However, now I HAVE to check it out
@@ShadeReactsLive It's where lots of people saw/heard them the first time, though. It's an important part in Babymetal history as the song that made their _international_ break. They'd already grown fairly big in Japan by that time.
Someone that Babymetal opened for previously that wasn't mentioned was Lady Gaga, There is a video somewhere of her watching them, rocking out when opening for her.
Like Hogwarts?🤔 Yeah, I can see that. Their magic is their music and dance 😉😁. But, like he said, this isn't a school. It's an idol group. Themed after school life. You have a TON of reactions to do. Besides BABYMETAL, you'll be doing other bands that have been suggested, and their long song lists. But I'm hoping and crossing my fingers that you, at some time in the near future, do a little dive into Sakura Gakuin. 2012 When Su was "class president". 2013 and 2014 when Moa and Yui had their own subunits, cooking club Mini Pati and baton club Twinklestars. Not to mention the regular group songs they fronted. It's a fun ride if you're willing to take a slight detour from the metal side of things.
Loving the reactions! You should do a double up of the original Black song GJ (Good Job) with Yui and Moa and then a solo version after Yui departed. Be prepared for cuteness overload!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 The thing that amazes me, is that after all these years of BABYMETAL, there’s virtually zero shots of them out of character. No scandals. No drugs. No relationship intrigue. They are so protected it defies belief. Moa is a beautiful person both inside and out. One of the times I saw them live was in Brisbane Australia - my home town. As it was a smaller show I got to the front and only metres from the girls. They are so sweet, loving and kind. They love their fans. I was at Tokyo Dome 2016. 55,000 sold out both nights! EPIC performance of their entire play list - both nights were different. The crown was every walk of life. Metal heads, Dads with young daughters dressed as BABYMETAL, girls, couples, and me - a guy from Australia who flew there for the show. The respect for the girls is amazing. They command the type of respect that means that if you were to say anything disrespectful (particularly sexual) you would have 50000 big brothers and uncles to deal with 😂 Try Believing, Maya, Yava and anything else really - it’s all good!
Mentioned already but just to say again, Sakura Gakuin was just a music group. It was an idol group which is somewhat particular to Japan. Idol groups often (not always) are rather large (the biggest/most famous, AKB48, had at least 48 members) and rotate performers through the group on a regular schedule (graduating). They are then able to last many years while maintaining the same look and always providing fresh faces and voices to get fans. SG had a theme of school life and the songs and skits they put on were like school activities and events but it was a real school only in the sense that the girls did get a lot of instruction and experience in performing. It was in no way a substitute for real Japanese education. The clubs were just subgroups (kind of awkward to always have 15 girls in a performance) and had 3-4 members who performed songs/skits around a more specific theme (Mini Patti was cooking, Twinkle Stars was baton twirling, which Moa is still surprisingly good at, etc.). Idol groups often perform in public venues like parks and small performance spaces and some (like AKB48) have their own theaters where they may perform as often as everyday. Babymetal broke out of this mold when they left SG.
Babymetal fan: ok, great!, after watching a guide: ok, expert! Nice!, after watching some Sakura Gakuin clips: ok, you are one of us now :-) Enough jokes! Greets from Germany, enjoy!
I've tried numerous times to get into Bandmaid and so far nothing has stuck. It's weird because they're obviously very talented, but I just haven't found a hook in any of the songs I've heard, nothing that made me want to hear it again.
Gimme Choco is their biggest song yes, but not their best. Its a must listen to as you make your way through their discography, but theres plenty of great other songs that merit just as much recognition
35:00 LOL. "Gimme Chocolate" is by far their best known song. The reason no one requested it, is because hardcore fans tend to dislike the song. It's musically and vocally pretty simple, so a lot of fans don't think it does them full justice.
28:48 many already told you it was the Legend S show, but if you want to really see it in action, try reacting to "In the Name Of" live at Legend S, you will not regret it! Be aware that it's a heavily copyrighted show, but it's one of the most breathtaking and elaborate shows BM ever made!
I assume that give me chocolate did not recommend it because they all thought you knew about it of course. At the time, it was getting a tremendous amount of playback.... I am still looking forward to your reaction to give me chocolate.
49:11 you see, the fact that during Lockdown Momo auditioned for a K-Pop group, threw some fans out of the loop, including me, since imho it showed she wasn't really that interested in being a permanent member for BM. At least that's the impression it gave me! But eveidently i was wrong 😄 Who else could it be? Well, people speculeted on a Yui return, or other ex- SG member, like the ones in Metalverse, the mirror group. 51:22 what's difference in the logo? So in the old logo, the wings represented SU, the skull top right represented Yui, and the heart inside both the B represented Moa. In the new logo there is no longer hearts nor skull. GJ noticing the heart 😄 52:45 exactly, they weren't named, we had no idea who they were at the beginning, and fans named them Chibi Metal (with chibi basically meaning Small in japanese)
@@BlackArr0w someone mentioned that I was lucky to discover Babymetal after Momo was permanently a member. This was I didn’t undergo the heartache of losing yui and trying to find the missing puzzle piece for 5 years. They were right haha
I don’t know if anyone recommended this but there is actually a Sakura gakuin 2010-2011 documentary that’s really informative and has su,Moa, and yui in there. Its more broad than baby metal but its just a recommendation if you want to know more about babymetals origins. Also to comment on you not reacting to su being on a cross, I actually think it was a good thing that you didn’t react in a surprised way because some people(especially more religious folks) give it negative connotations.
The logo change: The angel wings represent Su.(Probably because of her apotheosis, a la Babymetal Death) The heart represents Moa, ('Cherish love the most,' is supposedly the phrase attached to Moa's life.) and the skull on the outside represented Yui. (She used to wear a little skull shirt at SG events and whatnot, and could often be identified by it) They changed it to represent the new BM once Yui was replaced.
I have been with Babymetal from the beginning. I discovered them by accident. I didn't know a lot of things despite known them from the beggining. I never deep dive into bands that I listen and also i don't listen music very often. Very good guide.
Every video, I think to myself, 'He should be wearing headphones.' :p Gimme Chocolate is a major song, but isn't the greatest for some reactors to hear too early, as it can turn them off before they get an idea of what else the band can do. Gimme Chocolate was my first exposure and I loved them instantly, but I was consuming a *lot* of anime at the time and hadn't been excited by a metal band in a long while. If a reactor is a self-proclaimed metalhead, we usually hold off on recommending GC lest they think that BabyMetal is incapable of melting their face off. If, however, they claim to be unfamiliar with or on the fence about metal, GC is the perfect gateway to aggressive music. Band-Maid is great. You'll really enjoy them. Band-Maid fans, however, can be hostile toward mentions of BabyMetal, particularly if you hint at comparison or infer BabyMetal does anything better in any way. BabyMetal fans (typically) are like, 'Yeah! _____ is also so awesome. Appreciate *all* the music!' Band-Maid fans do not feel a mutual appreciation for *our* girls. Just a heads up. (Also Gacharic Spin is band I personally enjoy. They aren't metal but fuck are they talented. You might add them to your list.)
i'll try to not "poke the bear" as they say lol. But also, i'll give my feedback. Unfortunately all I really have to reference in the J-rock/ Japanese Metal is BabyMetal so it will be impossible to not make comparisons. I can't control how they choose to respond, only my actions.
Fun Fact: during the hiatus su actually stopped singing and listing to metal. They were just really burned out from going as long as they did. Su said she rediscovered her love for metal and music as a whole
7:08 the girl in the middle (Miko) is the girl singing Karate at the PIA show, and the other girl to the left (Sakia) “The General” lol was in Moa’s spot. 😊
(Public) Schooling in Japan is very different from the USA; Starts in April ends in March, students stay in the same room to learn, eat, clean. No "janitors", students all clean up their own room, hallways ( you see this in anime) , serve lunch. Clubs/extra curricular are mostly student- run ( band, chorus, etc.). Students are very independent, taking care of their own.
That was excellent! Lots of things I didn't know. If you ever get through the Babymetal library, Take a look at Lovebites. They are my no. 2 closely behind Babymetal though they are the musicians, no dancers, and are beyond amazing in talent and class. "Holy War" & "Swan Song" live are exceptional.
@@ShadeReactsLive If you are checking out *Hanabie,* you should do *Maximum the Hormone* as well. Because Hanabie started out as a MtH cover band, and they are a major influence on the Hanabie sound. And the MtH drummer, Nao, inspired Akane from Band-Maid as well. In fact, Nao is probably the main reason there are so many great female drummers in Japan at the moment. So Maximum the Hormone is not a band you want to miss!
I think most ppl don't understand about budikon???(sp).. you dont ask to play there you agent doesn't book you there.. you have to be invited to play there.
It is true that Gimme Chocolate is their biggest song, you will not find it being the favourite of the more hardcore fans though. Gimme Chocolate has also been used in a lot of other stuff like in Fortnite and was in Tiny Tina's wonderlands game.
Thats what I am seeing. It seems the more hardcore fans are more interested in introducing different songs. I still want to do a video on it now, just to see what I am missing lol
How does one forget to mention that is featured prominently in the movie Heavier Trip, as well as one of its trailers. good enough for Xytrax, good enough for me.
Gimme Chocolate tends to not be a favorite of a lot of fans. It's very much a gimmicky song and while that absolutely contributed to it going viral and Babymetal getting to be more well known around the world it also is not a great representation of what the group is capable of. You should definitely react to it, but that's probably why it hasn't been at the top of most people's list of suggestions.
I see a lot of hate for Gimme Chocolate from "hardcore" kitsunes. I'm totally surprised by it. This [in]famous 200M video from official channel was my intro to BM and it got me hooked instantly. I can't think of a more appropriate intro of what kawaii metal is. I've been thinking for several years before that why wouldn't anyone blend metal and j-pop: it looked to me like extremely on-the-surface idea. When I saw GC I was like "Finally, someone got enough balls to do it ! And, of course, it had to be Japanese: no one else would be able to blend total opposites in such a perfect execution !" My stance on the people that got turned off by GC and calling BM a "gimmick": so be it. Neither these close minded creatures deserve BM in their miserable lives, nor The One needs this kind of people.
Right! Gimme Chocolate is what BABYMETAL is, it's something you really can't take away. I disagree when some people say a certain song doesn't represent BABYMETAL, it perfectly represents them, every song they make is representative of who they are, even their parts in collabs as well, all these songs don't need to be excluded for the sake of validation as some reactor might not like what they hear, that's a self problem, not the problem of the song itself, and if they don't like it that's what makes BABYMETAL special, preserve the culture, no need to seek for validation of said culture.
I don't think I have ever heard a hardcore kitsune say that they hate, or even dislike, Gimme Choco. It's a good song, and I think most fans like it just fine. But it's a question of oversaturation. There are many songs that are better and deserve more attention.
Thanks for reacting to my guide.
Thank YOU for putting this together! Beautifully done and super informative. Cheers!
Our thanks to you, friend. Best work at this time.
@@ShadeReactsLive The skeleton dancers never pretended to play. It was an inside joke. The drummer had rubber drumsticks. None of the guitars looked real. It wasn't an attempt to deceive. It was comedy.
👍Great guide. Any plans for an update? 🦊 🖖❤
It's an awesome guide! Easily the best one anyone's made so far.
Thanks for the reaction… so much more for you to discover! Omagination makes some great compilation and fan-cam videos (including the one with the security guards), so I’m sure you’d enjoy checking out her channel.
I just subscribed to their channel so I can go back and find those easily!
Yes and so does Annie_Metal (@annie_metal_1209). Both great super fans and both put together great compilations of fun Babymetal stuff.
They are likely one-shots (there isn't the kind of depth of years of performance behind them) but all have reasons to watch beyond just excellent BM live; they show some part of the range of their music:
* "Oh Majanai!" -- Sabaton collaboration, Su-Metal's favorite song to perform. Scandanavian Folk Metal?
* "Amore (live from Wembley)" -- first japanese band to play Wembley, and just a straight up great Su-Metal solo
* "Metalizm" -- because of course they also do Egyptian Metal Core
* "Shanti Shanti Shanti" -- Indian influence metal?
I'll react to gimme Chocolate. I feel like im missing a big piece
@@ShadeReactsLive Watch the video that went viral. Also watch their performance on the Stephen Colbert show.
dont feel like a fool for that one blunder! me and my wife were loving how much you were able to put together while watching. also rondo of nightmare and akatsuki are 2 of my favorite
I wanna say thanks for doing these daily videos and giving us all some entertainment to look forward to each day! Loving your reactions and how much you’re really into and loving your Babymetal journey! 👊🏻🦊🤘🏻
Idk if I can keep up this pace when I go back to working full time, but I will try and keep to 1 video per day!
Yesss ! My New Year celebration is now complete !
It's finally here, thumbs up before I start even watching.
That security guard video is 100% worth reacting to, funny and cool moments there.
Definitely doing more of those videos. I loved the interviews and these moments just make me smile
Great to hear you're diving into other Japanese bands too. They're great and unique in their own ways. While BABYMETAL are still my favorite I'd highly recommend NEMOPHILA, who also has cover of Megitsune
This is the very best form of education for all new Babymetal fans❤🦊🤘
The Su laugh at 13:02 is the best thing ever! One thing that the guide doesn't really talk about is Moa has been called the Angel of Love and Yui the Angel of Dance. If you want to do some SG reactions, I would recommend the mini patti song that the guide showed. Super kawaii! You have quite a few songs to catch up on. I am glad to be a part of your journey.
Wow, you're really diving into the BABYMETAL foxhole fast. 🙂
Su’s SG graduation speech would be a good thing to watch, you may shed a tear though
(ft. F.HERO) | LIVE in Japan (4K) ruclips.net/video/rt5Zfxijfcg/видео.html&start_radio=1
Then on *Akatsuki* there is one performance from 2014/15 (?) Where Su is great and there is a fantastic full on guitar focus between the lead guitars (here Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura) that is just spectacular: Akatsuki: ruclips.net/video/g2372C5PJLM/видео.html
Finally *Metali* (FYI: featuring Tom Morello who never actually plays on stage with them but in live performances is on the backdrop). Babymetal, Metali, Live Summer Sonic 2023: ruclips.net/video/uysfLFpzdi8/видео.html
Hope these suggestions may help in making your reactions.
I feel like from the information I’ve learned from folks like you on here. I would have scored decent on a pop quick about Babymetal 😂
@@ShadeReactsLive 😄😄😄You're doing so great! By the way missed Princess Isla (sp?) on this reaction. She's pretty obviously loving the music!
The trilogy of lights is a must do
Awesome, you finally made it to the guide video, glad to see!
So here is a few recommendations for videos in whatever order:
- Leave it All Behind by F.Hero x Babymetal x Bodyslam , MV and there is a live version with a decent fancam
- Behkauf by Bloodywood x Babymetal (just released in December 2024) only the MV, not done live yet.
- Brand New Day (Fox Fest 2024 live w/ Tim and Scott)
- Starlight, Shine, Arkadia from the Metal Galaxy album, all 3 together are considered the "Trilogy of Lights", Starlight is one of my favorite songs (Starlight has an official MV too)
- Kagerou (Legend MM version is my favorite) this is one of my top 5 songs, the girls are so serious and intimidating when they perform this, the Kami band solo intro is amazing too.
Please record a reaction even if it's for funny videos of them interacting on stage.
We love watching those reactions too
Okay I will!
Part of the thing with the "undisclosed health issue" for Yui is that Amuse works really hard to maintain the girl's privacy. I'm sure if Yui wanted to say something it would be allowed but this way she gets to have a semi-normal life.
Totally respect that. Privacy is sacred, especially to those with fame. Just hope she is well
IIRC Amuse even made a statement to the effect of "Any comments about Yui's health should come from herself."
Enjoy the reaction,, there's still a lot of babymetal stuff, you should check them all out!
Woah... 5 hours each way weekly? That goodness she made it worth every trip!
@@rickwagner- Thanks Rick for the correction! Dude, I'm never gonna get those little details right.
The "elaborate set design" with the huge fox heads is from the "Legend S" show. The performance of the intro song "In the Name of" is indeed absolutely epic!
Legend S to celebrate Su's birthday
It is one of, if not the coolest and most jawdroppingly good way to start a concert that I have seen. It is hard to find that one on RUclips, but it is a must to react to that one🦊🤘
Omajination is the channel that made the security guys video, she also does a lot of other cool little BM videos.
hell yeah
she also does a very cool guide
Nice one, Whiskey-metal
Interaction videos
These kind of interaction videos are mainly fan cams and you can find them via YT Shorts
Though I think the channel Omajination has some Shorts and Fan Cam compilations
Cake for Momo's Birthday?
Na... Moa would eat it; there are some videos out there, showing Moa's passion for food/cake while still in Sakura Gakuin.
Also there is a Video at a concert end, where Su gets presented with a Birthday cake and you can Moa see, glancing longingly at it; it is a good one to watch
Song "Gimme chocolate":
It is a gimmicky song, which can be hit-or-miss; so it is not commonly suggested by The One to new listeners, unless they chose it themselves.
You could do a multiparter again, the official Music Video, one early performance and a new one.
Yes, you barely scratched the surface of the songs Babymetal has.
So, I look forward to more Babymetal from you.
As I am looking forward to any others of your reactions.
thank you! Happy to continue check out more of their music and live shows.
For Akatsuki you have to do 2 live performances, the normal one and then the unfinished version which will bless your ears!
Here are my two channel suggestions:
*Omajination:* She has a ton of well made fan videos and shorts.
Yep the guide needs a update been a few collaborations since, Electric Call Boy, and Bloodywood
28:48 When was that concert? That was Legend XX for Su's 20th birthday in Hiroshima. Dec 22ish 2017.
don't think, feel.🤘🏻🦊
🤘🏻😆
You also have to check out there other collabs! They are all awesome! You already know the ones with Bring Me The Horizon and Electric Callboy so please check out these others:
PA PA YA!!! featuring Thai Rapper F-Hero (the live performance)
Leave It All Behind, an F-Hero song featuring Babymetal and Thai rock band, Bodyslam (the official F Hero music video)
Their latest collab that dropped a few weeks ago is BEKHAUF, a song by Indian metal band, Bloodywood, featuring Babymetal. The music video is a freaking ANIME!!!! (The official Bloodywood music video)
These are all legit bangers!!!
"Sis anger" probably most heaviest babymetal song, that my opinion
Heavier than Tales of the Destinies?!
@ShadeReactsLive So much heavier, TotD more progressive, sis anger almost black metal, or not almost, clean black metal😁
28:41 that was the stage for Su-Metal's 20th birthday celebration concert in 2017, called «Legend-S XX Baptism». The first time Yuimetal couldn't perform anymore 😔
:(
And also the heart wrenching performance of No Rain No Rainbow. Hope Shade will get to watch that one. No Rain No Rainbow Baptism XX.
Link: ruclips.net/video/o0ERg64grnY/видео.html
im 100% doing this version. I love Colbert
Ok that's VERY funny. Guy gets like 12 videos in before he even hears about Gimme Chocolate's popularity because he's listening to hardcore fan recommendations only, and they are tired of the song's popularity.
apparently i'm missing something big lol
It is absolutely hilarious that no one talked about it.
Should I feel betrayed? lol
When you check out Band Maid don’t forget Lovebites. Unbelievable live metal band.
Band-Maid songs to react to:
PICK ANYTHING! They don't have a single bad song😂. Some of my favorite are:
Unleash
Hate?
Don't You Tell Me
Dice
Yeah someone else just recommended that as a double feature! Hell yeah. Japanese Metal meets Thai Rap? Sure, why not!
Loving your embrace of everything BABYMETAL, here’s a link to the MOMOMETAL announcement…
Wait until you hear the roar of the crowd…ruclips.net/video/_276UU_5GdI/видео.htmlsi=89IH-z9QPkuxX96c
I do like the multi-song format a lot. I feel like I can experience it better all back to back that way!
Do the original Black Babymetal songs before you do the Moa solo versions. Just my opinion
I really think the 2 versions of Akatsuki deserve a video of their own!
Great reaction. The new logo is also missing Yui's skull in the top right corner.
Oh nice! My wife is a therapist too. Thats cool!
Going down the Baby Metal foxhole and the Band Maid pigeon hole at the same time is going to be interesting, you definitely won’t get bored
Gimme Chocolate has 200 million views on RUclips. I’d say pretty big lol. It’s their most famous song but so ubiquitous that many fans overlook it. It’s pretty awesome but it’s BABYMETAL so of course it’s awesome.
It is also the song that's the most gimmicky of them all. That's the reason I don't like it.
Always willing to detour!
Loving the reactions! You should do a double up of the original Black song GJ (Good Job) with Yui and Moa and then a solo version after Yui departed. Be prepared for cuteness overload!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The thing that amazes me, is that after all these years of BABYMETAL, there’s virtually zero shots of them out of character.
They command the type of respect that means that if you were to say anything disrespectful (particularly sexual) you would have 50000 big brothers and uncles to deal with 😂
Try Believing, Maya, Yava and anything else really - it’s all good!
I will add GJ to the list! Thank you! Also that s really incredible after 15 years to not have ANYTHING scandalous or any of that nonsense. Incredible
This☝️
Oh and idol groups often perform to back tracks (no live band) and lip sync, another way Babymetal broke out of this structure.
@jimnusbaum3589 and started a trend of live bands with idol groups. Like BiSH, Passcode, Broken By The Scream, who all play with live bands.
@@AldoGuerraALDO-METAL Yeah I think the idol scene has broadened quite a bit since Babymetal were real idols.
Babymetal fan: ok, great!, after watching a guide: ok, expert! Nice!, after watching some Sakura Gakuin clips: ok, you are one of us now :-) Enough jokes! Greets from Germany, enjoy!
Akatsuki is a must...Budokan!
Yes! And the Unfinished version from Legend 1997, of course!
Yeahh.!🔥
I've tried numerous times to get into Bandmaid and so far nothing has stuck. It's weird because they're obviously very talented, but I just haven't found a hook in any of the songs I've heard, nothing that made me want to hear it again.
Gimme Choco is their biggest song yes, but not their best. Its a must listen to as you make your way through their discography, but theres plenty of great other songs that merit just as much recognition
Theres actually a fair bit of tour moments by the channel ohmajination
Gimmie Chocolate is HUGE
Apparently! lol
200 million views. 43rd most popular Japanese language music video.
well gimme chocolate is their biggest song... lol
Moa and Yui totally destroy the place when they perform GJ!
Su’s best solo IMHO is Amore
35:00 LOL. "Gimme Chocolate" is by far their best known song. The reason no one requested it, is because hardcore fans tend to dislike the song. It's musically and vocally pretty simple, so a lot of fans don't think it does them full justice.
I felt betrayed 😂
28:48 many already told you it was the Legend S show, but if you want to really see it in action, try reacting to "In the Name Of" live at Legend S, you will not regret it!
Be aware that it's a heavily copyrighted show, but it's one of the most breathtaking and elaborate shows BM ever made!
I suggest the live version of Catch Me If You Can with the Kami Band intro. It's a fun song, and the Kami Band kills it.
But eveidently i was wrong 😄
Who else could it be? Well, people speculeted on a Yui return, or other ex- SG member, like the ones in Metalverse, the mirror group.
51:22 what's difference in the logo? So in the old logo, the wings represented SU, the skull top right represented Yui, and the heart inside both the B represented Moa. In the new logo there is no longer hearts nor skull. GJ noticing the heart 😄
52:45 exactly, they weren't named, we had no idea who they were at the beginning, and fans named them Chibi Metal (with chibi basically meaning Small in japanese)
Yeah, man. Yeah.
I have been with Babymetal from the beginning. I discovered them by accident. I didn't know a lot of things despite known them from the beggining. I never deep dive into bands that I listen and also i don't listen music very often. Very good guide.
If you're doing J-Rock J-Metsl you absolutely have to do Nemophila & Hanabie. Also J-Pop Atarashii Gakko! All female Japanese groups.
Every video, I think to myself, 'He should be wearing headphones.' :p
Gimme Chocolate is a major song, but isn't the greatest for some reactors to hear too early, as it can turn them off before they get an idea of what else the band can do.
Didn't know this at all, interesting!
Sick - I am about to check out Band Maid and Hanabie. Adding Lovebites to the list!
新しいロゴにはYUIがデザインしたドクロとBの中のハートがなくなりました。
Hellyeah!! 🤘
I think most ppl don't understand about budikon???(sp).. you dont ask to play there you agent doesn't book you there.. you have to be invited to play there.
Thank God you didn’t pause too often. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@ShadeReactsLive You should, if only to know where the craze started. Gimme Chocolate was my first experience with them as it was many others.
How does one forget to mention that is featured prominently in the movie Heavier Trip, as well as one of its trailers. good enough for Xytrax, good enough for me.
@@TheHomelessDreamer Have not watched it yet lol
@@paulmarks3662 own it now. A must watch for BM fans, and I'm not even getting a cut.
Su's sister Himeka was an original member of Nogizaka46. She is now a counselor for girls that have chosen to become idols.
Her counseling practice isn't limited to Idols or girls.
And, of course, it had to be Japanese: no one else would be able to blend total opposites in such a perfect execution !"
My stance on the people that got turned off by GC and calling BM a "gimmick": so be it.
Gimme chocolate is an absolute banger lol
Japanese idol bands have typically 10 year contracts , they had to re-sign contracts
