THANK YOU FOR THIS! I purchased my first BJD one year ago, and they have been my inspiration to SEW and create in other ways again. I've learned so much, and love learning things that are still new to me. For sealant, I've been using Krylon UV-Resistant, non-yellowing, quick drying, matt flat, for the past year, and I like it. Mr Clear can be hard to find, and it's very expensive, so I just don't even bother looking for it anymore. Funny note: I always use sealant outdoors, and I hate wearing masks... so I hold my breath while I spray, run indoors, breathe, wait a minute or two, go get my doll, and still allow a little time for it to sit and dry completely in a well ventilated area. I do not leave my doll in the sun. If it's raining, I either wait until it isn't, or I use our garage. But I definitely prefer outdoors best. I do NOT recommend my method (the hold your breath method) but it works for me. I make all of my own clothes, and don't dye any fabric, or use fabric that 'bleeds', so I haven't noticed any discoloration over the past year. I have a friend who dyes socks that she sells, and I have wondered if dyed material can cause issues even if it's kept very dry. ?? Have you had any issues with that? I definitely appreciate everything in this video, especially the washing part of maintenance! Thank you! ~ Tricia

I'm so glad I've found this video, thank you! 🥰 I'm getting my first BJD doll soon. I've named her Ashley, and I sewed cute rainbow pj's before she arrives to my house. I'm very excited! 💙

Does it take a few years for the yellowing to appear on one of these dolls or can it happen quickly? I don’t wanna invest a lot of money into this hobby just for them to yellow in a year

It more so depends on how you care for them. I have a four year old BJD with no visible or noticeable yellowing and mine are out all the time, just not in direct sunlight. Being in direct sunlight can cause yellowing quickly, so dont leave them on a window sill :)
