suddenly I'm getting flashbacks when attempting to win the Nurburgring challenge with the McLaren MP4-12C only to blown my engine in the middle of the final straights
I’m envious of how visible that tachometer is. Played a bit of Unbound recently, not only is the tach set to like, 35% opacity, and no option to move it, but they will cut the engine sound mix to like 20% whenever to put basically any other sound at the front of the mix. Also, had to create an Elite Controller profile just for NFS because shifting is set to bumpers and are not remappable. First racing game ever where I’ve switched to automatic out of pure frustration.
I didn't get a chance to play recent NFS but everytime I watch gameplay of it car sound barely exist that I have to max the volume. All I heard was sound effects and not exhaust sounds
That’s about right. It’s ok normally, but if someone speaks (which the NPC readers blab constantly) or you hit nitrous, or it’s playing their cartoon sound effects, it drops the engine volume. It’s just very clearly meant to be played automatic. They have the manual option, but likely did not test it much at all.

but that's how I brake in every nfs game.
It's not the braking, it's the downshift from 6th to 3rd while still going 240 km/h lul

Some cars can get that engine blow if you downshift from top speed to lowest gear

Even if you turn the damage off, the tires can still come off the opponents if they crash

No way! I knew you can blow your engine while drifting but didn’t know you can do it if you downshifting way too hard.
In this case this basically a money shifting and it destroyed the transmission
