      When I see a bargain garment in cotton at a reasonable price, I tend to wonder whether dying at a different colour will enhance it even more. In this case, it certainly did. Even his lordship was pleased with the end result.
      👍😉

    Make the Pietra pattern. I tried it and they are so comfortable and easy to make. I found the shorts to be a great length for a mature woman like myself.

    Yes! I did say that about pockets. You can have jazzy pockets too. I do like your bargain dress dyed. For 10 pounds you couldn't even buy the fabric, at least not where I live. It looks great on you. It would be nice to make a pattern from it. Tricky - but do-able. Your tops are cute on you too. I like the frill sleeves.

    I've got that floral jersey. Shall make a laundry day tee. Love the tops you made, it's very similar to the Plum? Dress, free out a magazine. Same frill on the sleeve which I made but was too voluminous for me. My sewing room is all packed up ready for the move to Amble.

    Your blouses are lovely. The dress looks pretty dyed turquoise and I like your idea of adding some fabric paint to it, too. I bought the Pietra pants pattern, but haven’t made them. I would have to lengthen the shorts version. Happy sewing, Michou!

    Hi Michou, just catching up with your blogs, as we have been house/dog sitting for son in Surrey. So pleased you managed to use some of the fabric I sent & the blouses look lovely on you, especially love the sleeves. I also, dye fabrics & yours came out really well. Last year I bought two pairs of trousers which no one wanted as they were bright orange (much reduced) for £8 each & dyed them. My confidence re sewing is coming back - just made three dresses for Project Dress a Girl24 (due in September) & have four more cut out. Also from Tilly&Buttons book just made Safia trousers which fit perfectly - elastic at the back & plain at the front & plan to made several more pairs. Take care Ali 😘

      sorry for the delay in replying Alison. we both had covid and have been grandkids minding so often that I haven't been concentrating in my vlogs lately.
      I'm so pleased you're getting your sewjo back. despite all that's been happening around me I haven't stopped sewing and last night I finally created a lovely top from the jersey fabric you gave me. hopefully soon I will be able to get a vlog or 2 up for you all to see.
      I'll have to check out the safia trousers. they sound quite interesting. 👍😉😘

    Your new blouses are very nice, especially the neckline! And the arm frills are cute.
    Your dress looks so nice and it's perfect in it's new color. I remember that orange top video. Your creativity is very inspiring.
    To me a skort is a skirt with sew-in shorts underneath.
    Lately I look at patterns i think they've just changed the picture on the front but the line drawings look so much like patterns I already have! The sizing is the main difference.
    Say hello to Brian

      @michoumakes  4 месяца назад

      first of all, Brian says hello back to you. 😉
      I'm in total agreement with you Janice, about the fact that the patterns seem to be regurgitated with a different picture on the front to make it up to date and appealing.
      I'm sad to say the same applies to indie patterns. I've seen the same style by different designers and also at different prices.
      I don't mind if we're going to be using the pattern over and over again and get our monies worth but at those prices a one-off garment makes the whole process very expensive. 😘😉

    All your makes look fantastic. I made S9890 can't make up my mind if I like it or not. Patterns similiar to your purchased dress are wardrobe by me Balka dress without the tie. I seen a version of the hope dress by style arc that looks similiar. But when you look at the pattern not so sure. A more fitted version is butterick 6491 but is no longer in print. Hope that helps your search❤😊

      I often feel quite deflated when a garment I'm making doesn't look at all like the one on the pattern cover. probably because the difference between her and I are quite a few excess inches all over. 🫣😊😉😘

    Wow! You’ve really been busy creating new things. Loved the orange top & how you decorated it. I started doing a muslin for Lekala pattern # 4545. It was for a reversible dress. Didn’t understand directions so I put it up for a bit. I have since found a sew along on RUclips for a reversible dress. So I’ll be pulling it back out soon. Meantime I’m taking a shift dress apart. I never liked the facings and instead want to line it. Also waiting on fabric to start my bootstrap pants form.

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  4 месяца назад

      I checked out that pattern because it sounded quite interesting it being a reversible dress. however, I think it's just that the skirt has a contrasting lining. I don't think it's actually fully reversible, but I might be wrong on that. It's still a very nice pattern and we can't complain at the price that they charge us for it. 😉😘👍

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  4 месяца назад +1

      I take that back. I've just relooked at that lekala pattern and yes it's reversible. I'm going to download the pattern and I might try a sewalong. Watch this space.

    Would you be willing to find some time in a future vlog to show us the processes you go through to dye fabric? Of course the info accompanies the dye product, but perhaps you don't always follow the manufacturer's instructions! For example your intention was to dye the black and white Morrison dress, but you added the fabric you had been sent - would that have been more fabric/weight than the dye was meant to treat? See where I'm coming from? Oh, and which dye products do you use? (The last time I dyed anything was when Dylon was sold in tiny aluminium capsules!) 😂

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  4 месяца назад

      ah yes those little aluminium pods still exist but they now sell machine dyes.
      I'd be happy to explain and show how it works. I think I did it once before in a vlog but I'm not sure which one it was now! 🤔🤨😉😘
