Several amendments to the script, left out either due to time constraints or just glanced over. I'll update this list as they are pointed out. - Pyromancer is also an ideal DEX hybrid. @@gankspanker1367 any class can use spells, you just need a casting item and the spell itself. Its only a guide, warriors can still cast spells, but not recommended early game, as it has low int, meaning lower spell dmg
@@ELMedain Just buy the chain set and roll with that until you have enough endurance for the heavier armor. The chain set looks amazing with the Tower Kite Shield or the Knight Shield while using a long sword or a broad sword. For those who didn’t know, the knight starts with a little faith, the prayer gesture, and is already part of the way of white cov. This is a build that could be used for a little faith to use some miracle like replenish, seeing how in the description it states that a knight won’t easily fall with it. A clue of sorts and if you desire this might be a fairly good choice for a slight quality and faith build.
This was a great breakdown of the classes, and I think this would be a great video to show to new players. It would help reduce a lot of new player confusion, and it's something I wish I'd had when I first started haha
Warrior is by far the best for strength, Dex or quality build because of 8 attun, 9 int and 9 faith all the other points are based on str, end, res, vit and dex
The deprived is one of the best starting classes in the game. An 11 across the board means it can easily segue into any build you want, and the club does pretty good damage too.
I started playing dark souls 4 days ago and ITS SUPER FUN but also challenging i have choose thief and been playing very straight forward (like a knight) now that i saw how u played with the thief i think ill be able to do better!!
Man the meta way to play this game has permeated it to such an extent that I cannot even imagine getting into these as a new player today. With so many opinions of the "right way to play" all innovation stagnates like Gwyns Age of Fire :p. But as an old hand, this video is tasty. You really did a great job! 🎉
I really appreciate that you made this. I mainly watched it to just learn what each class is supposed to do and happily got more than I wanted. I wouldn't of minded to learn it all my own but i thought it would really help me if I learned about the statistic side of dark souls to improve my experience more.
This video taught me a lot, my first build was thieve and my second pyromancer and didn’t understand why I wasn’t getting my bow on my second character until mid game. One more reason why these videos are great
Deprived is good because you start as an overall lower character level, meaning you get to put more levels into a build you want. Other builds are good for starting out, but if you have a build in mind, where you want specific stat allocations, then Deprived is for you. That said, its usually used by Souls veterans who know exactly what weapon, spells, armor, whatever, they are going to be using. Thats why its a popular choice in speedruns. If its your first time playing, id recommend maybe not going Deprived, but then again, it is Dark Souls, youre gonna get steamrolled regardless
@@kito5961 Deprived is bad in Dark Souls 1. I don't know where that person got their information from (Elden Ring probably) but in DS1 specifically, the deprived is the highest Level character (means less freedom to build it the way you want). You can add +1 stat per "soul level" (XP basically), and the Deprived already starts with a higher level and (poorly) pre allocated stats (as if somebody had levelled up your Deprived poorly). Any other character is better in DS1 as they start at a lower level, and Pyro in DS1 is probably the closest to Elden Ring's deprived (in ER, Deprived starts at level 1, in DS1 Pyro starts at level 1). Outside of PVP (and you shouldn't care about PvP your first time), I think you can pick any class you want. It will be roughly the same since there is a shop 10 mins after you reach the main landmass to grab decent starting gear, and the first few levels are fast to get... So within the first hour you should be at the same level as any other starting class, there is little difference. I would say cleric is the best for a beginner because they start with a Healing spell that costs 4,000 souls and the correct gear to cast that spell... These 4,000 souls you save can go towards leveling instead (levels and shop use the same currency), which will be around 4 levels in the early game. And I think for a beginner, having a few extra heals in the form of a spell is a welcome aid. The game is entirely possible to complete without this spell though.
Your video quality is great. The sound quality is good, the introduction is simple yet it delivers the message. And the class disection is well done. Overall, it's a really good guide. Will you be able to make a guide for the rest of Souls series, and maybe about the starting gifts (if applicable)? I would be looking forward to it.
The warrior is very good but I'd say the knight is a bit better for someone brand new to the game. You start out with better health and great armor and shield. Also the stats are fairly even, and you automatically start the game in a covenant that reduces the chance you'll be invaded by other players.
Just got elden ring last week and it's my first souls game. It's got me wanting to try out dark souls and bloodborne so here I am. The pyromancer sounds pretty cool not going to lie
I usually end up going with either Wanderer, or Cleric for the dex build, or quality faith. This was well done, though man! Should help a lot of new comers to the series.
The deprived class is a good class if you want a balanced character all the stats being the same number it takes longer to get stronger but getting all your sets to 50 each is pretty good which allows you to get your hands on all the weapons in the game
I'm thinking about picking cleric then focusing on dexterity in my next run, it should allow for medium armour and healing miracles which will help my use of the bow and of dexterity scaling melee weapons. It may not work out but I will have fun finding out.
Ty, this was very helpful when deciding what class to pick, only played Elden ring for a little and haven’t played in a long while, barely made any progress to be honest. I’m not too familiar with souls games, I just started dark souls remastered for the first time, so far it’s going well I think. Gonna plan on slowly make my through this and then bloodborne and then back to Elden ring. 🖤
Awesome video my man but I'd give the hunter a solid playthrough and see what they have to offer. Having a bow before you get to the first merchant+ firebombs make some parts a breeze and his starting equipment and stats for a dex build are shockingly good.
My first playthrough of DS1 was completely blind -- at least through the first several segments -- and my first character was a thief because, I like that whole character archetype and crit damage (at the time not knowing that "critical hits" are specific commands in this game and not random damage multipliers like in more traditional RPGs). I stuck with it through the end of the game, but my two main struggles were survivability and having consistent damage output against bosses and other enemies that you can't riposte or backstab. I actually never got lost as a result of having the master key, though I did get to get decimated by Havel within the first hour or two of gameplay.
really nice video, and a nice format too, i sure am not in a position to say that but i really would like to see something like this to the other games of the series, at least the DS3.
First time souls player. Want to go for the generic warrior with sword and shield to get the ropes. Any hints on what stats I should level first in the early game and in what order?
Nice analysis, but i can't agree with the statement that the deprived is there to make the game more difficult without a purpose. The club is basically the second best small strength weapon only beaten by the mace in late game and early on it out performs all other small weapons in a strength build. Also the same way you mentioned that the short bow is mere minutes away at the beginning of the game, so is a solid starting armor, thus reducing the "problem" of being naked to only the first few enemies. Furthermore the deprived class is basically the best all rounder class, having even stat distribution, so it gives you the best beginning, if you are not sure what path you want to take yet, or just want to play a kind of jack of all trades build. Discouraging new players to pick the deprived class is about as misleading as encouraging them to take the master key gift.

What would you think of the classes if you kept the stats proportional to what they started with as you level them up?
