  • Sam "Wahoo" Crawford was one of the most prolific players of the dead ball era, racking up 309 career triples. Most famously known for being a Detroit Tiger during his Major League career, he also spent time playing for the Los Angeles Angels in the Pacific Coast League. After his playing days were over, he went onto manage the USC Trojans collegiate baseball team for a few years. Following that, he spent time as an umpire in the PCL. Without a doubt, Crawford lived quite the baseball life. What are your thoughts on Crawford's career? Let me know, down in the comments. Thanks for watching.

Anybody interested in MLB's Deadball Era should read Lawrence Ritter's "The Glory of Their Times" - a collection of interviews with the men who played the game. "Wahoo Sam" Crawford's interview is one of the book's highlights.
