You think the plastic for our products is sourced from cottage industry like this? Rather than huge factories?
Speak for yourself. I think about thus daily
You work hard to afford it. Not like the goods are free.
I work in a US factory and we make foam. The process is the exact same except we mass produce so instead of a block like they made we make long buns that can be 50 feet long. After they cure between 24 and 72 hrs depending on the foam type, we cut them into blocks like the one above and the process is the same 😁
Did you guys wear respirators or mask, any kind of protection from the chemical?

I love watching these how to vids. There's a lot of them now. I never get bored. Some things I never knew it takes such time and lots of work to make one product.
One word "specialization"
It might be the Pakistan part. Similar work is done with more automation in other places.
In that part of the world they add a lot more manual labor to this, now days it's all done by robots and conveyer belts.

The smell in there must be amazing.

I know right must be high all the time no respirator on
I don't know about an amazing smell but many victims from the Station Night club fire back in 2003 in Rhode Island died from inhailing the fumes of that padding. Many people who survived said it was like black rain melting on top of them because there was padding all over the ceilings and walls to muffle the sound of the music. Many were in comas from inhailing the fumes of that padding.
Video on RUclips, Station Club fire. It went up in seconds. Craziest fire I've seen on film.

I never thought about what the cutting machine would look like but after seeing that spinning wheel with a blade suspended in the air makes a lot of sense
I hadn't even noticed that! Such a simple design
Most common version is a table that goes back and forth with a stationary blade. Probably for space reasons. I've never seen this design but it looks good 👍
The saw is called a carousel. It is often used to saw several "buns" of foam at a time. In the center is a changeable gear mechanism that determines the rate at which the saw head lowers, thereby cutting the chosen thickness. There are less expensive reciprocating saws where the thin blade holding part backs up through the cut, then lowers to the programmed thickness then makes the next cut. Many of these machines are equipped with huge vacuums which hold the foam in place to assure that the foam does not lift during sawing. Either type of machine is capable of sawing in a range of one eighth inch thickness to ten inches. The auto sharpener runs continuously. There should be an entrance preventive fence around this saw with pressure sensitive shut off. In Europe and in North America the liquid is remotely sprayed into the expansion chamber and is never poured by hand. Accidents happen and such liquid is dangerous and will become very hot, and the gases which cause expansion should be vented. These men are not equipped for working safely with this material.
@@JosephBoxmeyer yeah I’m not surprised that there isn’t adequate safety procedures. It doesn’t look like a very high cost operation.
@@rainbowapplesliceProbably in India or Pakistan where those men feel fortunate to have any job at all. This is their industrial revolution. Everything in this video shows safety violations for us but not for them. I remember in the early 70's, after the Marines working for a construction company which broke all the rules. Once I was down in a ditch my head six feet below the water table with no shoring. The ground was all sand. Well it caved in on me. I got out. We violated our laws. I think maybe those men work where life is cheap. I have watched the videos on ship dismantling over there. Frightening.
