- In this video we show you how to fix scaling issues on your programs when using high resolution displays. This is a very big issue for those that use high resolution monitors and this video shows you how to fix it.
This helped out SO MUCH!!! I thought I was just going to have to just deal with older software having everything being scrunched together until I found this video. Was dealing with this problem for MONTHS.
When I installed my Quickbooks Desktop Pro software on my brand new 4K resolution laptop, everything was scaled so tiny that it seemed I needed a magnifying glass to see anything.
I called the folks at quickbooks to find out how to fix it, and they could only tell me to adjust my windows resolution to 1080p which did not make any sense to me.
This fix did the trick, thank you for posting this video!
Brilliant. Just got a 43" Philips Ambilight TV which I'm using as a 4k monitor (great as a monitor really sharp and colourful) and have exactly this problem. All fixed now. Thanx very much.
I've been having issues with autocad scaling. When windows was scaled to anything higher than 100 the program looked fine but none of the clickable tabs would work, making the program unusable. I've had to work with tiny unscaled autocad for months now. THIS video finally fixed it. THANK YOU.
I think I have come back to this video like three or four times in the last two years to fix the small size issue with every new app I install.
I may be back again in a few months.
Very useful video.
Again and again.
I followed your procedure for addressing this problem with the application Sony Vegas pro 12. It worked! Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video.
I used this for MSI Afterburner. Thank you.
Thank you so much,
I have been spend 2 hour finding the solution, but your way is great and fixed the problem, Thank you very much
Worked great for msi afterburner! Thank you so much for the help!
you're supposed to activate "let windows try to fix apps" in that settings window and
instead of using a custom 190% scaling I'd strongly recommend you using a normal 200% settings since it's very unlikely that programs that officially support high DPI will carry any 190% UI elements with them (it is thus not recommend to use custom ui scaling)
Furthermore before using highdpi compatibility settings I'd try adding "/high-dpi-support=1 /force-device-scale-factor=2 " to the target field of the programm shortcut and see what that does
Spent ages trying to find this info! Thanks for the quick fix, great video.
Wow thanks so much!!! I am using Ansys and the font appear small so this is a lifesaver!
do you have a video on how to do this for windows 7? i keep an old dual boot of 10 and 7 and my 4k tv hates windows 7 im lost
Amazing! why others are telling you to change your main resolution to 1080p made no sense.. this option is solid!
wow, it worked perfectly, thanks for the tip, now I can see the apps with a decent resolution, thank you sooooo much
What a champ. Great job buddy!!!
THANK YOU! Worked great for fixing my issues w/ Corel Draw X6 and also Quickbooks. There is another video floating around but it doesn't address the Override settings at the bottom. That was the key!
ThankyouThankyouThankyou!
I've been trying to fix my OS resolution scaling problems for many many months, thought I'd have no choice but to deal with it until I found this video. Windows 10 apps after applying the scaling tricks in this video are much more crispy looking and easier to use right now! Appreciate it a lot!!!
You Sir, are a saint and a scholar! I picked this game up over the weekend for a €5.00 having never played it before, and I was straining my neck leaning in to try and read the prompts and quests. Now it's perfect. Solution works, and I'm using Windows 11 for the benefit of other readers.
THANK YOU!
You da man! because I had already fixed this a different way. And the old way obviously isn't working anymore.
Thanks a lot. Worked for me!
As of July 30th 2024 around 1 am NY time:
This works for MSI afterburner. If you are fine with the windows default for scaling you do NOT need to use the advanced setting for display settings and just set the individual application to the settings shown in the video. ( You can skip the section at 1:35 if you are fine with the default recommended settings. If you don't use recommended then you may need the entire video)
Great Job just trim the fat a bit as we say.
fixed quickbooks 2020 last year and got 2021 with same issue didn't remember fix found your video again and fixed THANKS!!!!!!
Doesn't work for me in SolidWorks, I can solve the problem of icons that are too small by changing the DPI, but then the resolution of the drawings, parts and assemblies is far too low (with AMD and NVDIA video cards). But of course that happens with tutorials that are already 5 years old.
I recently bought a brand new QHD monitor for my laptop from a 1080p monitor and now my plugins GUIs look to small inside of my DAW, would this method help in my situation???
I use Studio One 5 by the way.
Thanks in Advance
Thanks mate! Worked like a charm.
This video deserves more than 833 likes, that's for sure. But your title is so prof. that beginners would never find this video. Also this solution applies for non-4K screens as well. I have. 15 inch HD laptop, and I almost gave up using Resolve because the scaling was so bad. Someone suggested me using windows Magnifier, thanx... But this solution works well.
Thank you ever so much! I had an issue, that windows automatically scaled to 150%, and while that's awesome for most stuff, it displaces games in borderless windows. But simply having this scaling changed to 100 for the games exe files, the issue was solved!
2021 - works like miracle. Unfortunately sooo many people still looking for it, not knowing why their 3Ds Max hanging on launch on 4k monitor...Who knew to blame resolution?!
To change it back go to the windows search and type "change the resolution of the display" and then open the settings page it leads to, then click the little button that says to reset/disable scaling mode or something and it should be back to normal!
You rock. I can actually see MSI Afterburner now. Thanks!
I was so excited to find this because the problem has been irritating the hell out of me, but trying this totally screwed up my computer. When I went to the screen where you can customize the scaling size the page looked fine; nevertheless I changed it to 190 as you had done with Adobe. Then the program opened up so magnified I had to restart the computer to get out of it, and when I did everything on the computer was small so I had to go into display settings and click to ignore the custom changes.
Yeah the size is correct but everything ends up BLURRY when I do this!! Fuck I hate Windows so much
This scales the system. Not the programs. I have my scale set at 300% on 4k resolution. Programs are still scrunched up..
Breese Learning would like to thank you for this clear and concise video! It was very helpful. Muchas gracias!
What if you have a program you access remotely such as EMR system for physicians. can you please let us know if there is a solution . We have LG 4k , 2 monitors . There is no exe for this remote program on our computers . thanks a lot .
Oh my gosh. I just wanna say. I love you for that information. Thank so soo sooooo much. I have been searching for it for a week. Thank so much. You save my life.
It has worked for Photoshop but not for Paint Tools Sai u.u but thanks!
hi tried this fix with Elements 2020; result not good . No matter what i did the size was increased far to much ie 1000% so nothing fit into windows Any ideas?
Thank you so much, my fl studio was so tiny i can't even see any button!!
Man I've got the same problem, I'm using FL 20 on a 4K display, but when I use this method the resolution of FL just goes down insanely, any advice on how it worked for you? Or is the resolution shit for you as well?
Now my fl studio is blurry
Great fix for "Resolution not supported" issues on 4K/UHD displays.
Thank you so much! helped with my MSI afterburner on 4k. =)
a windows 10 tutorial without an indian narrator? what strange land is this? This helped a lot though. took me half th day trying to figure this problem out. thank you so much
I was using my old 1080 monitor 'cause i couldn't see with such small icons. Thx a lot.
Huge thank you!!! You've solved my Google Earth issue!
Does it work with HUD scaling in games?
i had this issue with minecraft. rendering at 8K instead of 2K and this fixed it!! THANKS!
Omg, thank you so much! I have been struggling with it for years!!
Adobe Substance 3D Painter doesnot work! why?
Very good explanation and solution. But it seems like the text in Lightroom isn´t as sharp as before.
Just installed FL Studio to a new laptop, 4k. In program files > image-line > FL, there's FL (scaled), FL, FL64 (scaled) and FL64. With the scaled ones all the plugins look normal but the image quality is a bit poorer, only downside
You saved my sanity,, THANK YOU!!!
Works for SQL Server. I was dying before this video, I now see light.
this changed everything on my display to the scale size, not just the program
THANK YOU SO MUCHH!! this helped me a LOT
Thank you so much it's works perfectly 😊
1000 blessings to you and your family
Such a first world problem, but i needed this so thanks a lot !
whats odd for me is in games text is fine but on my desktop or outside of games my text is quite blurry
Top post , thanks .....
I tried doing this for paint tool sai but it didn't work :(
Worked like a charm. Massive respect, man. I was actually so relieved that you used the example of Adobe Premiere Pro because the program I had the issue with was also a video editing software (kdenlive)
Really appreciate this video and the detail explanation ). Thank u
works for win 11 problem too....thank you !!!
it make the program larg and more usable to use but the quality of the program is so low
very quick and helpful, thanks
This is great for the opposite as well. I like to have a 150% scale on Windows, but 125% scale on Premiere for more real state. I had to compromize one to get the other. Thanks, mate!
Thank you this saved my day getting Element 3D for After Effects bigger ;)
it works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! time savor lol. thx a millions
You are the SAVIOR of the 4k SQUAD!!! Thanks man! LOVE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I did this method but now my programm looks blurry
Thanks a lot. This was a major issue with some old apps but now it is solved.
Thanks Again had to do for 2022 Quickbooks
i want to fix a in game ui scale from an old game to windows 10 , will this work?
Worked great, excellent fix. thanks
Awesome !! It Worked, Thanks.
God damn I hate Windows 10.
Darn this saved my day, should find this earlier
Does anyone know how this could be done on Mac OS please?
sheesh first time a youtube tutorial worked for me thanks
Thank you so much man!! It worked quite well... However the letters do look bigger but blurrier any fix?
nope, its up the the app devs to fix that.
Thank you soo so much this really helped 💪🏼💪🏼
thank you so much,this worked!!!!
Not fixed... Photoshop actually increases its UI but not the photos... so, I still seeing all photos very very tinny.
Edit: the only solution is to scale the system (in Display Settings), to 125%. Then do this trick in Photoshop.
thx!! Now I atleast can read and see on on what I click ghaha yaay
wait I just realized this is the scriptbot streamer!
FL Studio actually lookin legible now lmao
good tutorial, thank you so much
This also works for SFM thank you!
anyone know how to make this work for mmo games? my single player games all have no trouble adjusting to my new 3840x2160 monitor resolution. when I adjust the the custom scaling at 125% or lower the UI is super small (I can still see and read everything but it is a little more difficult and it is slightly more difficult to move stuff in my inventory cause everything is tiny now) and at 126% the game is to big and stretches into my other monitor. I guess I could just lower the resolution back to what it was on my old monitor to get everything back to normal for mmo games at least but I was hoping for another solution.
Thanks very much for this.
Future sucks. Scaling each program is a nightmare.
Where's my Windows 11?
PS: Thanks for the tutorial, it's awesome, you're great. Keep it up!
There is no windows 11 It is windows core os
@@RajuMon2016 WOOSH
thank you useful video
My first 4K screen and hell it was a pain in the arse.. until now!
Thank you very much :)
Now everything fine with 4k?
but now its blurry. What can i do?
(i use Code: :Blocks
Buy a 1080P monitor :D
@@hermanstokbrood :))))))))
@@ciripescuvlad7788 Really, I asked my employer for a 27" 1080P monitor although I could have 4K. I'm a programmer and don't want to fuss around with all those scaling settings. It's just horrible.
Besides, I rather read sharp text with jagged edges than blurred text. I even unchecked Cleartype fonts. Perfectly happy with my 81PPI monitor ;)
Yeah but im not rich to buy a second monitor :)) i already bought a 4k monitor soo..
@@ciripescuvlad7788 You could have 2x27" instead ;)
I think W10 will improve in time. So your investment is save ;)
Work but its become blurry
OMG you are a lifesaver!
Its very usefull.. thanks man
Fixed my scaling issue, except for the cursor which is now tiny. I am trying to get Autodesk Maya adjusted to my 4k laptop screen. So this worked great, except the mouse. Any ideas how to get the cursor back to normal size? (It is only when the mouse is hovering over/being used within the software, when I minimize or go over something else, it's normal size)
Did you find a fix for this?
L0tusExige I never did. I just used it on 1080p monitors hooked up and used it in that resolution
