Replacing the hacking minigames with mobile game ads would be really funny in a cyberpunk game

Yall remember when the main incentive to pay any money at all was to remove ads?

  • @Lamefoureyes

Ah yes, the struggle for media companies to remember it's the shows that bring in the customers and those customers have a limited patience for things getting in the way of watching those shows.

Always reminds me of Gabe Newell saying that the major reason for people pirating things isn't the price its the ease of acquisition.

I have cut out fast food 2 years back. I worked at the Walmart Deli here and the cost of the food skyrocketed. The lunch plates that were a decent enough deal went from like $4 to $7 and Walmart switched us to measuring cups. Fast food is competing for the cost of take out, and I can get chicken hibachi, rice, miso soup for $12. Let alone the local Chinese takeout for $8 for something. Edible and much higher quality.
I did get a Burger King cheese burger a few months ago and the thing was 2" diameter. Things are such a mess right now.

I went to a local deli to get dinner tonight, and a footlong italian sub with a drink and no side was 19 dollars. Good food... but 19 dollars??????
its getting harder and harder to justify eating out nowadays, and alot of food places are losing their way. its not 100% their fault since inflation is a bitch, but corpo greed is still a huge factor in the grand scheme of things.

I saw an article some time back and their research showed that fast-food chains were having price increases roughly double of inflation

Cable TV is also just like 50% ads nowadays - I watched some TV in a hotel a month or so ago while on vacation and a 30 minute TV show had 10+ minutes of ads which only got me 20 minutes of actual show (plus the ads are always placed at the worst possible times in the shows, so that it encourages you to stay to continue watching)

The crazy part about us talking about or searching stuff up then getting ads for them is that it goes as far as you can be talking about something away from your devices in a place you’re sure it’s just you and someone else and you’ll still get ads for the topics or video recommendations for what you talked about
Even with your device shut down they’ll still manage to hear you through them and give you recommendations it’s insane they don’t even hide it anymore

It’s nice to see Piracy skyrocketing so hard that companies are throwing fits about it and blaming the people for their stock being hurt

    • @jtcLIVE
      @jtcLIVE  3 месяца назад +1

Companies also don’t realize people are still willing to pay for solid products. I can’t even begin to recall how many posts online I’ve seen of people say thing they started playing Baldur’s Gate 3 by pirating it, but eventually ended up buying it because it was so good and they wanted to support the devs.
Yea some people will just pirate everything because they can, but like… stop releasing games that are clearly cash grabs and your piracy rate will drop lmao

We live in an inflationary economy and I know inflation sucks, and everyone hates things getting more expensive over time. But do you know what's worse? Deflation. Ask Japan what happened to their Asian Tiger economy from the 70s-90s when it seemed they might eclipse the US some day. Where are they now? A downward spiral that has no end in sight. So while it would be nice for things to get cheaper over time or just stay the same price, that just isn't how things work in successful economies and it's actually better than the alternative. Think about how great it will be to tell your grandkids about $5 footlongs when the going price is $60 in the year 2100. It's not corporate greed, it's economic inflation. Also as an employee it's why you're probably getting a 1.5% raise every year. It's not really a raise, it's just your salary keeping pace with inflation.

Except it isn't. Cost of living from 2023 to 2024 went up an average of 3.1% (source: bls.gov). And that's not a one off. Most recent years have seen inflation rise faster than what a 1.5% pay increase could cover. 2022 had it especially rough with a roughly *8%* increase in CoL (granted, external factors likely influenced that, but still).

You don't know what deflation is, and yes its corporate greed not inflation.

Profit margins have increased more than anything else related to the cost of consumer goods since this massive inflation started, it's ENTIRELY greed. And 5 seconds of research can tell you that wages haven't kept up with costs since the 80's.
We have a TON of statistics disproving pretty much every single thing you say in this paragraph. Please educate yourself on these topics before you speak about them in the future.
