That 2k truck for the dump bed is a no brainer. Especially when you can part it out to retrieve some or all of the costs.
Only if the bed is in decent condition.
Fixing the bed you have lets you know that you have a good bed. Everything else is questionable. Love having a truck you have worked on and know what is what.
@@royscarbrough3589doesn't look like he has anything worth working on with that dump box.
I need a t-shirt that says, “it’s fine, everything’s fine “
Labor depends on what you think your time is worth. Captain K mentioned before, the learning experience is worth something too.
you had me laughing out loud when you were chasing that impact drill behind your back at 11:00.
I wasn’t ready for that front quarter comment of “it looks like it was parked too close to the sun,” it cost me a huge sip of coffee all over the family while sitting at the table! OMG I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time, THANK YOU for being YOU, you’re nailing it! 🤣
She’s coming along nicely, you’re a smart man doing the entire build yourself. You’ll literally know her inside and out! You still have to name her though, no?
Anyway, keep up the great work Mike and keep’em coming👍🏼👍🏼
Stellar outtro! I detected a hint of sarcasm when you suggested if people wanted to use anti-seize on their spark plugs to go right ahead. LOL It takes all kinds of personalities to make the world go round. It's amazing how much work gets done by all the armchair "professional" mechanics. Mike, you do you because that's who we are subscribed to watch.
I had a tough choice to make this morning: This Video and DP new video showed up next to each other in my feed. I had to chose, so I chose Captain and coffee to start my day LOL
Shhhh 🤣
All I can say is we are all cheering for you Captain Mike. This project is one of your most interesting to watch. What you have built so far is pretty cool and I can't help but anticipate the end result.
The experience of building your own is not figured into your price, that is priceless.
Yes take care of clint at C AND C he is a good MAN and he Will help a person out and what I see he is bringing his sons up the same way😊😊😊
Just another option, which I did was to put a heavy duty flatbed on the frame with the dump cylinder . Then make heavy duty sides and gate. Now you have a flatbed that dumps and a dump truck. Works really well when loading with a fork lift or something similar
You are getting so much more than just a dump truck on this diy path. You learn, we learn, and we are all entertained. Thank you for sharing the journey.
It makes sense to me Captain, in the end, you know what you have, you know how it goes together (and often, in my experience, more importantly, how it comes apart), and if it breaks, you can fix it. Having current experience in fixing stuff other "amateurs" built or repaired, I'd rather know than try to figure out "what in the name of fly-by-night" have they done here? Thanks, take care.
Is officer 👮 Hoover going to give it his stamp of approval. lol looks good
Capn, you don’t need no stinking doors, imagine cruising down to Cannelton at Wall’s drive in to buy you and the wife a Bannana-split Funnel cake, life changing!
Rag drying/cleaning station, ventilated floor system, (rust).
You kill me.
Keep up the great work. Very inspiring.
I think you made the right choice
Don't forget the knowledge ur getting. Priceless
Truck 3 = one truck

Such good content, I’m also commenting here to add $$$ to the RUclips/ Captain Kleeman Project coffers, thus altering the algorithms for the greater glory - PLUS (today only) I’m liking my own comment as a special added bonus!!!
I am commenting on your comment for those very same reasons!
😂
Thank you for the no spin budget analysis, I think you are on the right track and the value in knowing you built it right is something to weigh.
Building this truck was something you enjoyed doing. A hobby does not have to be a money maker. I've had many hobbies that didn't make me a penny but instead cost several pennies. I enjoy your videos the most of any on RUclips. Keep up the good work.
Looking good man, can’t wait to see this baby run
You’re better off going with what you have, Mike, as you said, you know what you got , as you put many new parts on that truck. 👍👍😎😎🍮🍮❤️
Another classic outtro!
You forgot to add in all the fun you are having!
Build your own, know what you have, and gain the experience thru the university of hard knocks, majoring in labor expenditures and cash out lay. I like it, stay the course, going to be a good truck for your use when finished. Thanks for update, appreciate your time and effort.
Good to See You Captain, another Rain Day along the Mid Atlantic. Perfect Time for My Favorite RUclips Concrete Paddle Boat Captain😂
Mike, your content is some of the most enjoyable and looked-forward-to YT channels. I have great admiration for the scale of things you take on. And no silly side-kick chit chat. As to the dump box, give a pile of steel and a few bucks to MBTS and get you a new one.
Hi HI Captain, greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲. It will be worth it. The monster truck in the making 😂😂😂
Thanks Mike! 🇨🇦
Hi Mike. At the end of the day, you will have handled just about every bolt on that truck, and you know what you have. Pretty hard to find a dump truck with a whole lot of new and you know what you have on Marketplace. I think your project is right on track the cost seems completely reasonable to me. You won't find something turnkey, ready to go to work, for 9K. Good stuff!
LOL You are what we used to call in the old days as "a horse trader". Buying and selling and making money, or at least coming up with a free horse.
The key point you mentioned is buying someone else's problem child or having something you know every bolt on. You should have located and fixed every problem on this rig and will likely get many years of use without headaches. Worth every bit of time you put into it. Yes, some minor used part might give out, but you dang sure know how to change it after this. Well done Captain. My only thought is that maybe a guy should put a modern drive train in for the fuel economy. But that would take some real education for the electronics. You can buy a lot of fuel for the hundred thousand dollars you saved compared to a new truck. Those old Ford v8 engines can get five gallons to the mile at times. At least it seems that way. I hate when you go from mpg to gpm.
Awesome video is always . When DP Bought the new dump bed for lieutenant Dan I can't remember the name of the place that he got it from a friend to his random place he did a lot of undercarriage replacement parts He also had a shop that did a lot of work for city and counties and I saw when DP was down there lots of one ton don't trucks Oldies look like county he might be worth giving a call to he might have a lead on a dump bed. It's not terrible I can't remember the name of the guy that partially don't get the drink Dr. Pepper LOL. As a note here I had that I bought new GMC 6 yd dump truck gas I put anti Seize on the Spark plugs . And I was going down the road pulling a back hole and Was going down the road and I heard this big pop I looked at the engine and a plug had worked its way outhe spark plug wire kept me from losing it . This happened a second time so I no longer put antics On spark plugs
C](:>)-[(❤#=]
You know what you got every inch of it plus all the new parts you have the best deal. 😊
Rust , POR15 , bedliner , rust , and , more rust .
I would almost believe you had a Jeep there Capn !
I'm glad you're doing the build rather than buying, watching someone buy a truck isn't real interesting, keep up the great work 👍
It's really coming along nice! Good work Captain...
You have the time and lots of nickles and dimes for parts. You seem to be enjoying the build. You'll "know what you got" when done. Yes, you can buy a functioning dump truck for the same money or a little more or less but where is the fun in that?
Build the bed! You’ve come this far! Plus the content on it would be legit!
Looks like it's coming along nicely. I think I would lean more towards the C60 dump truck for it's higher capabilities.
Great update! Happy Easter to you, your family, & your dump truck!! :) Thumbs up! Be safe! Jim
Hey Captain rebuild and lengthen the one you have. It would be great content but more importantly, it stays true the build your doing now, all you!
Did you forget to add a new pair of solid knee blue jeans?
Looks like some Carharrt loggers jeans are in order!
Double knees !!!!
In my opinion i think your ahead of the game. You know what you have, peace of mind. Everything was touched on that truck. As far as the time you have in it what's the education worth? Great work great videos. Thanks!
I loved the Sopranos style too-early ending. Seems like you came out better cost wise than i have on a lot of 'my vehicles so in my book its looking pretty good. Having a fully rebuilt truck should feel pretty nice
👍 Glad you're content with your content.
between all the random brackets your selling to people like me and such and if you bought that truck for the bed i honestly think youd come out money ahead or very close to it which is a huge difference sure those running trucks are out there but with all the money and time youve spent building one your really saving money and time in my opinion because yours has alot of new parts and will be very solid vs buying one and you might face breakdowns and end up with a headache just for the assurance alone and the fact that you can doo odd jobs for folks with it if you want the truck has paid for itself or will anyway
If you have the money, you may want to think about a new aluminum dump bed. You'd get more payload plus you wouldn't have to full around with the rusted out one, and you'd end up with a great truck
MIKE, esplanation- good....
Parts- good...
Mindset... good..
Time restraint - good...
Labor,... good....
Carry on Capt'n!
Love your attitude and the pride you take in what you do
Well done. You have learned a lot about dump trucks doing this rebuild. More reliable having so many new parts.
You are on the right track, lets not even mention the satisfaction you get and the content you are providing (thank you!).
Cheers from Tokyo!
Why not consider a flat bed with a dump? They are WAY easier to maintain, especially with a wooden floor. Easy to make your own. You can pick the side dimensions for different operations or run topless (no sides)
Doesn't serve the purpose of what I need
@@CaptainKleeman - respectfully reconsider. I’ve done commercial dirt and landscaping for over 35 years my fleet is 22 trucks currently. I won’t buy another steel dump bed for anything under a 5 ton chassis. There is far more versatility, less cost initially, less cost to maintain, they don’t weigh anywhere near, and I can literally get one flat bed to last three chassis. Great for hauling ANYTHING from brush to equipment to stone. Didn’t Clint build one?
Nothing to say comment. 😸
Who's gonna carry the doors and the logs? Captain is. This is amazing to me. A guy that would have to buy instead of build. And you can upgrade at some point if needed.
Thanks for the financial breakdown. Very good information for sure.
As always Mike, you amaze me. I wish always the best of luck.
Thanks!

Appreciate it!
I think your doing a great job on the truck build. Great job on the documentation as well. I have been wondering if you were spending more than expected during the build but this video answered that for me. Seems like your right where your goal is with more than 90 percent of the work done. Money wise, there is also a lot of metal left in the other trucks parts and pieces that can trim down the cost of the build in the end. Good job!
Rock Auto is the worst place to order anything for an engine because to many of the internal’s and outer parts are refurbished garbage, but for body and interior their great 👍 I only use Amazon with my garage set for the vehicle and Summit Racing for off hand basic parts always.
LOL Joe Diffie! It's been a long time since I've even thought of him. Welcome to Earth, 3rd rock from the Sun! I think you're absolutely right. You've made the correct move, you know what you have and you've got a lot of new parts. Thanks for the break down! I feel like buying the bed might be the move but I really wanna see you do the work to modify the old bed...... Interested in seeing what you choose!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great breakdown on the costs to build this truck. Considering all the improvements you have made to the reclaimed parts in this truck I think you will end up farther ahead than buying any of the other trucks. And if at the end if you see something you like better and still have time to invest to improve it I’m confident you could probably sell this truck at a profit if not a premium. Kinda hard to find a truck with better documentation on its origins. Looking forward to seeing the story continue. Wishing you and your family the best.
Amazing, educational and entertaining.
I love watching this stuff! Makes we want to build one also!
Although I'm quite the anitsocial cuss, I sure like Mike. He makes me a better person.
Like you could say you could spend the money, but where's the fun and the history. I reckon you'd be better fixing up the bed you've go and extending it, at least then you know it will be sound, am sure Mbts wouldn't mind helping out. Hopefully by the time you've sold the parts you'll nearly brake even, when you talk about the cost of your time think about the knowledge you've gained, that's priceless. 👍
I really enjoy your vids... one of my favorite channels👍💪 "Joe diffy" definately is to blame for high prices on trucks... thanks
Amazing progress. Loving the build, carry on!
Your doing alright with this build Mike great video thanks
I absolutely enjoy watching what all you do. This is gonna be an awesome dump truck! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Captain you could easily get over 15 k for your build. Speaking hauling plant beds compost, make sure the Admiral gets us videos of your cypress raised garden beds this year. 🐶
You will be much happier with your own build, no matter the cost. Truly enjoying this build!!!
You're learning 👍 that lower molding at the bottom of the door glass that's right above the door handle It's called a belt molding yeah I don't know why it just is.
Might want to give it all a shot of Fluid Film or a similar product while everything is easy to cover with it at this stage...
Enjoying the build 👍🏻 I hope you don’t let that steering wheel cover go with the red truck 😅
Howdy, yes you could buy a dump truck that works, but you will not know if this works or if that works or how long it will last. What you are doing will give you the confidence to know the truck will serve you perfectly. PLUS, the knowledge you built into yourself, and the satisfaction knowing that you can do the job. Great work you are doing there.
I hope i see too. Much love.
The cost is subjective, are you having fun, if yes as long as you are happy it’s no one’s business but your own, take care and I’m looking forward to this progress
The nice thing about building this yourself is you know what you got
I sure hope you gave the flat tire to Clint and kept the good one
🤣
Captain, one other thing you have is the experience of building your own truck and if something happens to go wrong you probably will know right where to look and have the knowledge to fix it. Thanks for taking us along! J.R.
Joe Diffie! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 48 million views, but I still would love to hear that conspiracy theory! $3500 for a decent bed! Not bad, if it comes on a truck. Even if you pay a little more than that, I'm sure you can sell off the parts and get that actual cost down to a dollar! 😁😁 Hopefully, you can find some decent steel on the current bed to make any repairs to the new bed you purchase! BTW: you might want to save the side panels incase the breaks fail and you really smash in the sides of the bed (Spare Parts)! 👍👍
Hammers ratchet onto the ground "It's good for em". Buhahahaha.
RIP Joe Diffie December 28, 1958 - March 29, 2020
Interesting breakdown of costs Thank You
I blame you for my sore back, multiple cuts and my wife thinking I am loosing it at 68, You inspired me to save 153.00 and do my own oil change on my Ranger. Needless to say I spent more on creepers/oil/filters/ oil pans/band aids/advil all to find out I have to remove the drivers front wheel to get one of my new filter cap wrenches on to the filter. (not accessable from top or bottom....STUPID!) Total cost for the first 185.00, but I will save money in the long run. (I hope)🤓Need another disclaimer .😲
Never thought of the Joe Diffie reason. I can’t argue!
Kleeman Khronikles continue....price wise it looks like the budget is pretty good for as much "new" as you are putting into the truck. I really like the positive attitude you always show on your videos....it's inspiring. Great channel......great content.
Love the channel and the content and agree about Joe
Looks like your plan is starting to come together, Mike…great work sir! Thanks!
Sure looks like you are on the right track with the 3 into 1 approach.Appears the bed is an area that needs both a lot of time and materials so buying a bed that needs minimal/no work may be best plan, you can always sell the bed once the 3 in 1 passes it’s best before date…..
hello Mike & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool Thanks & Mike & Friends & Randy
Enjoyed it as always
I like it! As another person stated, if that bed checks out and works for ya…. the hour and half drive would be worth it. It also will reduce your overall cost as you “horse trade” a bit with the balance of that truck. Just think in terms of your ‘trade up series’ on steroids.
Good job Captain!
Looking good, Mike
Great Job
Great video, bud. Keep on trucking.
Looking good 👍👌
Thumbs up 👍 on your progress keep it going 😊
Thanks for the breakdown sir
