Now it looks like we're gonna have to cut a path through every chickenshit metrocop who's having second thoughts about defending City 17". Which means that, possibly ever since the 3rd day of the uprising, (which started almost immediately after the destruction of Nova Prospekt, and the fighting continued for a week while Gordon and Alyx "slow teleported") the Metropolice forces began to pull back and take a stand as their own independant faction. This is finally supported by the lore surrounding the Metrocops which states that: "Part of the Combine Overwatch, CPs are ordinary human volunteers who have "willingly" joined the Combine, either for more privileges, such as additional food, better living conditions, a "reproductive simulation", an increase in authority and status over others, or out of genuine sympathy and identification with the Combine's aims. As such, they are not bio-mechanically modified in any way, unlike the two other Overwatch units." Meaning that they are still autonomous and not operating members of the trans-human (means something different) armed forces on earth. TL;DR: thats canon, we never see it because Valve's lazy and had deadlines to meet, and I think there's a mission in the old Lambda Wars Beta (HL2 rts) where you're putting down a Metrocop platoon who gets too high and mighty but I dont remember for sure.

A free 15min long mod, completely based in the Half Life 2 universe (including weapons, characters, locations etc)and still kicks-ass not like Hunt Down The Freeman.
I like how the civil protection members, kills a transhuman soldier/combine soldier. Civil Protection are regular humans w. gasmasks and vocoders to keep their identity concealed. They can be your neighbour etc. They get better living conditions, food, able to move more freely around etc. than regular people. After the uprising, a lot of the civil protection unites breaks free and goes rogue to escape the city, killing both combine and resistance to achieve that.
Assuming that this takes place during HL2:Ep1, civil protection had broke off from the rest of the combine and were planning to use the evacuation trains for themselves. It's also explained at the end of the mod, so you obviously didnt watch to the end of the video before making this comment.
