Very much enjoying your videos here on RUclips. I've had this print for about a year and find it fits into the office very well. Working with any computer anywhere in the house is very useful, especially for duplex printing. The potential problems with the screen size go away once set up as nearly all the functions are run from the PC software in use. Infact alot of the scanning functions are only offered in the pc software and not on the machine itself. Keep up the good work.
I've had this printers predecessor the 2650 coming up to 3 years now. It's been excellent so far and I've done literally hundreds of prints out of it. I'm about a third of the way through my second set of inks so these inks last a very long time! The inks in the 2650 are all dye based so I'll be interested to see how this newer iteration with a pigment based black will do in comparison. I chose this Epson over the similar Canon equivalents purely because the driver allows you to use custom ICC profiles ( sadly Canon restrict this driver feature to their higher end printers it seems ). I've not changed out my waste cart preferring instead to replace it entirely with an external printer potty. My printer is at about 80% before I need to use the WIC reset code I purchased to re-zero it and let it think a new waste cart has been installed 😊 All in all, if you have the capacity to make your own ICC profiles you can really get the 2650 and no doubt this newer 2850 to punch way above its weight. I think you'll be suitably impressed with what the 2850 can do once you start profiling the many papers you'll test it with 😉😊
Thanks Keith. Great to see, that you also will have a look at cheaper printers. Of course the ET-2850 will not deliver P900 quality, but maybe you can recommend some cheaper paper, which fit for greeting cards and cheap printers and which exceed printing quality compared to standard copy paper…
Yes, the lower end printers can be more interesting in some ways. I'll be looking at how the mixed ink set changes results with different types of papers and profiling aspects.
I have the now two year old ET-4760 and thank goodness it has a really nice large screen on it! However, I never considered it to be a photography printer. We use it for our everyday printer and wife uses it every day for her recipes. Still haven't changed the initial inks! I got the P-900 for my pics! Looking forward to seeing what you can do with this 4-ink set printer!
Look forward to seeing how good you can get it. I don't know why brands still fit tiny screens, it isn't like a large(r) screen is particularly expensive!
Hi, were the inks in the printer when it was shipped to you? If it survived the shipping company, then a tank printer could work for me also. I live in a motor home, the roads can be a bit bumpy sometimes here in Finland.. Br, Eeli I have six pairs of glasses, but I never find them...
Another greate video Keith, I am searching for a Multi-Purpose printer and my choice is the Epson 4850 that also have EcoTank Ink. I have 2 questions. 1) I saw more videos on RUclips that show how to unclog the printhead that use EcoThank Ink. Do you know if this Ink is more susceptible to clog the printhed ? 2) If I don't use the printer very often, is it a good thing not to fill the ink to the max ? If the Ink is there for a long time, is it susceptible to dry and cause problems ? Thank You
Thanks - just deciding what I can test on it! I've never come across clogging issues with one of this sort. Some of this 'clogging' comes from people using 3rd party inks like dye-sub types ;-) They won't dry for a very long time - there is a very small air vent, but it's designed to equalise pressure (much like in the top of ink cartridges.
Hi Keith, great video on setting up the 2850. I purchased this printer recently and I'm struggling to get decent blacks on my colour prints, they turn out with a cyan colour cast, I have tried various profiles, Epson papers and other 3rd party papers but every time the prints look lack luster, do you have any suggestions that might help ? I'm using a PC and the ICC profiles that came with the printer. Cheers Chimpy.
Early days on this one, but it seems that good profiles and paper choice are the key. There were no paper specific profiles installed when I set it up, so I'm going to do quite a bit of testing in the coming weeks

Thanks - it is an excellent general purpose printer

Thanks - I need to get the guillotine out for some testing, since I keep very few 'good' papers at A4 size.

Thanks - I'll be testing it with some of the greeting card stock I've tested with other printers in the last couple of years.
@@KeithCooper Excellent _ Im pleased your looking across the board,, and not just high end

Ah, you noticed my irritations with it ;-)

I have six pairs of glasses, but I never find them...
It was shipped with inks [in someone's car] - just be sure to use the head locking clamp
Super helpful. thx!
Glad it helped!
