- Metro Police and paramedics are on the scene of a shooting in the Salemtown neighborhood of Nashville. The shooting happened at Roasted - a restaurant on Garfield Street - in the middle of Easter brunch.

It gradually became Democrat run and DEI over the past 20 years. I used to live there 1998-2003. It was a beautiful place back then with very little crime.

@@50pinkies67 Do a little research and you'll find that Nashville has been run by democrats for at least half a century. It wasn't really obvious for a while, because the city government decided to not allow party affiliation to be on the ballot for city offices -candidates weren't supposed to say which party they were with until after the election - so voters might think they had a choice of republican or democrat, when it was actually a choice of moderate democrat or leftist democrat. The shift in the last 20 years has been toward the left, though. Lots of people moving to Nashville from other states, and in the last year there have been a few news reports where people complained that Nashville was turning into what they had moved away from.

I spent about 3 months in Tennessee. One month each in Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis. I would have expected this in Knoxville.
Many years ago, I lived in Nashville for a year. I loved every nano-second of it, and the people were incredible. But, clearly, the city has degenerated over time. I won't be back.

What's funny is I mentioned in another comment section about how I'm moving away from NYC before the summer and I had one woman say to me "please don't move to Nashville, because we don't want your blue vote"
I lived in Nashville for 4 years back in 97-2000, and Nashville was MUCH different back then. Nashville is becoming more and more liberal than when i lived there. Plus, don't assume all NYers are democrats. Nashville crime is definitely up. There was a transgendered school shooter and a man who planted a bomb in an RV in downtown Nashville, and they were both white.

An East Tennessee restaurant falsely assumed my wife is an illegal from Latin America despite showing a valid TN DL. I don’t want to experience that again - neither does she. At 80 living both in the North and South in the 50's,60s and 70s I was amazed at the quite dignity, easy going People in African American Communities. They helped each regardless of the task, their Churches were packed on Sundays. In the South they had bountiful Gardens always a few pigs and chickens in their back yard. They literally lived in shacks with no heat or air-conditioning as I did. They sold their fresh fruits and veggies in my housing project. Few had cars but their faithful mule pulled the wagon of produce always on Saturday afternoons. The Watermelons were a quarter, cantaloupes a dime. Their lives were difficult, changeling and often openly discriminated against with an undercurrent of potential violence which literally hung heavy in the air. But they got up each day before light and went to work in the most inhumane conditions. Stayed together, little to no violence in their Communities and somehow in this chaos they sent their Children off to College. High School graduation numbers were in the high 90's for both Whites and AA then. Common sense tells Us that the quickest way out of Proverty is an Education which is still the case today. No shootings, no gang violence, no drugs, few out of wedlock babies....and NO Welfare until the mid to late 60s.
Dr. King would be heartbroken by the obscene violence in his Communities of Color today. I often wondered in the early 60's when I was riding in the back of Buses in Montgomery. Ala. supporting their right to sit where they wanted in the bus what the future would hold for Them and for Us in the quest for their Civil Rights...but never in my wildest dreams did I see this nightmare unfolding over the last 40 years and certainly not their Genocidal behaviors towards each other over the last 20 years. I can't wrap my mind around the daily carnage. Our once greatest Nation in the World brought to its knees by violent, vile homicidal young thugs of all races in our rotting Society...one crime after another.
