  • This is my brass Rajasthani morchang, or morsing. I just started playing last month.

Thanks Jamie. I'm still waiting on my Potkin to come in the mail, and I'm ordering another one from Rekha tomorrow. I got the harp fever lol.

Great! In Italy we call it the "scacciapensieri", it was played in southern Italy

I've been playing for a couple years now and can't say I'm doing anything fancier than you... But if i was just starting i would immediately try to audibly tap a foot or both feet. They say we play the harp with the whole body, and I've never seen more presence than with foot stomping (standing) or tapping (sitting.) Might be easier to learn fresh out of the gate.
I dont know if i would immerse myself in a particular style if you want to stay original, but the style i described is particularly Norwegian, i believe. If you want to hear just one example of the depth of sound, i suggest Sigurd Brokke, playing "Fanten."

I love it. Great suggestion. I’m having a hard time finding my groove, or I run out of breathe. I’ll try that, thanks.
