Interesting how just holding a phone can have such a negative impact now. Although a norm of everyday life, it's always great to have that human interaction 🙌
I think this concept is also why I refuse to put anything work related on my personal device and if a company does not want to provide a "phone" then they have to accept that you will only be contactable when at work. There's an assumption made now that because the manager has sent an email at 11PM that you will have read it when you get in to work at 9 the next day, no. Even group whatsapp should be discouraged for anything other than social communication.
When I am talking to someone and look down on their phone I immediately stop talking and say I will wait when they finish. They get it. The same when they call to talk while multi tasking and all the noise is in my ear or they are driving. I suggest they call when they are sitting and can give full attention.
When I interact with people I turn off my notifications and put my phome in my bag. If people answer their phone or start texting with somebody I just sit and wait for them to finish (I dont take my phone to entertain myself). That usually makes them uncomfortable, so they finish earlier.
It does make sense for certain circumstances. However, most meetings I attend are related to scheduling and require that we are all able to edit and view our individual calendars during the meeting.
I very much agree with him I see people going to the dinner table are going out to eat and having their phone in front of them I see women walking their kids walking their dog looking at their phone I see people looking at their phone crossing the street bad idea I see women jogging in holding their phone in their hand everywhere they walk they're holding their phone I see young girls holding their phones while getting off the bus in the mall they're holding their phones I see kids in the mall play with their phones and not talking to their friends I see people texting while they're driving I see people watching movies in front of them on the dashboard Wilder driving very dangerous phones have become an addiction
I’m curious what your perspective is on smart watches? Do they reinforce our need to be connected, or are they a healthier alternative? I’m thinking about the visibility they provide which curbs the need to touch the phone with a notification.
Well several months ago, I went for a spontaneous night out with a guy I was seeing. The moment he pulled out his smart watch while we were on the dance floor in a pub with live music, gave me a feeling of him not being completely present. It was absolutely great time of getting to know each other until that second. Charm was gone. Similar thing with a phone happened a couple of times after that when basically any update on game was more important than sharing the time together. Now I'm not saying people should totally shut down, but I'd rather have a conversation about the game interacting rather than just feeling ignored, not knowing where to look actually.
I make it a point to not be clued to my phone. Nowadays i dont even look at the phone more than 3 times a day. sometime i dont even check the phone untill around lunch time. Mind you i dont use my phone for work, i use the landline at work. I REFUSE TO PUT ANY WORK RELATED CONTACTS ON MY PHONE OR CONNECT MY WORK EMAIL TO MY PHONE. its my private phone, when i leave work, its my time. When i am at work or with friends, my phone is away not near me in my bag or in my pocket. Im glad i am not addicted to this device.
God bless you Simon for addressing this 🙏 I am from before cellphones even existed and have seen this horrible development. Parents walking with their kids but not interacting with them but with their phones, families in restaurants not talking to eachother but to their phones and so on. So many are disconnected from the ones closest to them because of their phone addiction. So many are busy with their phones during their working day during working hours. Teachers have problems with kids, and their parents, in class over the use of their phones during class. So much damage because of this addiction and it is an addiction make no misstake! An addition that does more harm than you might think!!!
I was chilling out laying on the couch watching this video I want to know why people are so addicted to their phones I am not one of them I left my phone away in my room for half the day today
I know people that watch movies watch short clips while they're on the toilet at work even people in the casino going to the bathrooms and watch RUclips doing their business when people are at a restaurant you're playing RUclips are looking at Facebook while they're eating and ignoring the person in front of them that's rude
@@robertboisvert2226like for real sir! i'm now working at the restaurant and seeing a lot of customers looking at the phone while eating without talking each other (even with partners). i dont know but i feel like it's quite sickening. this is the age of a distraction
Your perspective on the psychological impact of our devices is enlightening. What strategies do you suggest for breaking the habit of constantly checking our phones during important moments?
Breaking the habit of constantly checking our phones during important moments can be challenging, but it's definitely worth the effort for improving our relationships and being more present in our lives.
Great video on the importance of giving people our full attention. I agree that putting our phones away is a great way to show others that they are the most important thing to us.
This video highlights a crucial topic we should all think about - the impact of cell phones on our relationship. It's also a wake-up call to prioritize real-life connections over digital distractions.
Great video! It emphasizes the importance of being fully present with people and offers practical tips for reducing phone distractions. Thanks for sharing!
I recall going to dinner with my ex gf.....(yeah yeah) for my birthday. She whipped out the mobile device and I said; "What are you dong?". "Sending an e-mail" she replied. It was Friday night and I shouldn't have been there with her.. I wasn't "cool enough" to do that during our time in that establishment.
All the world needs to disconnect to reconnect. It’s like a shutdown to restart. Technology is fantastic, but it’s not more important than our families, friends, and humans in general. We just need to be conscious of the role each one plays.
(When laptops are offended about sexual attraction and sexual attention to phones. Like, the laptops are suing them for being addicted to the phone's like the phones will be sued with them because they would both see the negative effects of their sex life with laptops being because of the phone never being important; courts and phones and why some courts legally need a sexual therapist in order to use a laptop (the phone was more understanding but it's potentially a generation thing about how laptops effected their development because of grooming).

Phone has never been on the table only in my pocket . Room to room because no 4 land line as 1960’s . Show us where is phone booths with local directory .
I love what Simon Sinek says, and I agree with almost everything, but if I wake my wife up at 6:30 as I get ready for work or to take the dog out, neither of us will have a good morning.
Since I put on my profile on a dating app as extension to "I'd love if my partner" could hold a conversation without touching and petting his phone, I don't really get likes...
If you're a lawer, put phone in pocket is really greatful. But if you're a technical or biz-owner, putting a phone in pocket will be less job or high risk. 😀
Phobbing is IT called Like that? If I meet with Humans, all I Gaze IS their gestures. Gen y Greets. 👁️🙏🏻💚 Fully feel Seen. Thats why I wanna meet Humans face 2 Face. IT feels good to BE Seen and heared 🌏❤️
I would fine all parents who give a screen to their children when un a buggy, at the table when having breakfast, lunch dinner or in a café or in a restaurant.

LOL Talk about completely missing the point of the video! You aren't sitting across the table from him are you? I think you need to pay a bit more attention to the message rather than looking for something to be critical about.

Girls make that every days. The phone is glue to theirs hand even on winter (but maybe it's a different glue).

Yes, thank you for this Mr. Simon
Dogs must think that a phone is the ultimate human chew toy since we spend so much time with it.
The only difference being: the dogs actually enjoy their chew toy ;)
I've observed the dogs and cats are actually jealous of the phone, especially if they see you interacting with it.
It's not?

How many of you, like me, watched this on your….phone
I did, but only once my attention wasn’t needed from another. ❤

And he didn't even mention the smart watches. To me, those are worse than the turned over phone on the table.
I would fine all parents who give a screen to their children when un a buggy, at the table when having breakfast, lunch dinner or in a café or in a restaurant.
While i agree, I put my phone on the table because it feels weird in my pocket when sitting 😂.
Same. I try not to keep it on my person too long. The RF is dangerous close to tissue for long periods of time.
If I do put in on the table, I put it with the screen facing down, just so I'm less distracted
Love it! Very Indistractable!
So true.
jokes on the cell phones, i'm already addicted to PC. those stupid tiny devices couldn't bother me less
💯 so true ❤
Ok, I am working on this addiction. I will only use cell phone for necessary communication and learning from today.
Cell phones, the devils portal to the world.. Worst invention ever..
I love 💕 my phone 🎉 oh yeah
So...phones are an addiction, and the solution is to have four phones? 🤔
Certainly, this interview is too help to the phone addicts,, phone is far important things would have change
It’d be better if we start using candy bar phones instead of a smart phone.
You have phone addiction
💯 ✊
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bull
👍👍👍
Great. Rather let's talk about spreading bullshit about not hiring competent people, rather ones with matching attitude.
Get a life😅

No, it should be put down in a conversation 💁🏻♂️
When you are with people and eating with others, there should be no reason to be on the phone
Nah, computers are still a thing brother!
