    I believe they are misguided for supporting labour but I have respect for the vote. This Labour party is not for the people, does not care about the working class and will bring this country to its knees.

    Cutting the winter fuel wasn’t even in the manifesto. Labour are no different to the Tories. The word manifesto means nothing to these people anymore.

    Interesting to watch the voting! All the young lackeys in the front rows voted against the motion. Probably the “ brilliant” young minds advising Starmer and Reeves on policy rather than the experienced party politicians that are very quiet on the WFA!

      They probably think that every pensioner is getting the WFA. I just wish that journalists of all colours would correct one misconception : Could somebody PLEASE point out two facts: One - the WFA is per household, so a couple under 80 years old get £100 each, a single pensioner under 80 gets £200. Two - over 80 years old, the WFA is £300. I presume it's divided the same way.

      @@overthemoon34 It depends on the definition of millionaire. True, house prices have risen so much (especially in the south) that on paper some pensioners may well be "millionaires". But you can't pay bills with bricks and mortar and saying "then move and downsize" isn't always straightforward. And you won't find many of these "property millionaires" in the north of England.

      I just wish that journalists of all colours would correct one misconception about the winter fuel allowance. I just read the BBC's Have Your Say, where most comments are obviously coming from non-pensioners. To a man they seem to believe that EVERY pensioner has been getting £300 per year WFA. Could somebody PLEASE point out two facts: One - the WFA is per household, so a couple under 80 years old get £100 each, a single pensioner under 80 gets £200. Two - over 80 years old, the WFA is £300. I presume it's divided the same way.
