That’s great news for LiS fans, but personally? I am also worried about how they’ll handle such a beloved character. After all, LiS 1 and LiS TC were quite different from each other. One focusing on deep relationships, chill indie vibes while the other had a bit of that too but shifted focus onto action, losing a bit of originality in the process. But yeah, we will see! If anything, we can always pretend this game came from a parallel reality and is not canon in our universe 😂
This is also my biggest worry
they already handled them well, they did the before the storm bonus episode which was incredible in my opinion
When I saw this trailer I was like "Is that Max?" "OH IT IS!" and I screamed.
I am really excited and looking forward to playing this!

That said, this looks nothing at all like Max Caulfield.
Also, if they say Chloe is dead, then don't waste my time.
If they're going to make her older they should have worked on her cheek bones, areas around her eyes, and forehead. This new version looks like a Bratz doll.
First, Hannah Telle is doing full performance capture for this one, so Max's model reflects that. Second, there's been a console generation since the first game, and that was Don't Nod's second project.
Third, Max doesn't wear her hair the same way, it was dropping in front of her eyes in the first game, hence why her forehead is more visible.
Fourth, we have a story in the comics following the Bae ending (Sacrifice Arcadia). Deck Nine may have chosen to avoid conflicting with that tale entirely by staying in the Bay timeline (Sacrifice Chloe). Regardless if this is true, Chloe is gonna absent from this game's main plot and will either appear as a cameo or solely be referred to by Max in dialogue/monologue/journal entries.

When I first saw 1 hour ago and when I realize that voice is Max I sreamed. I'm so exited for this but I don't know what to think about this game. I have hopes. We saw they succeeded with LIS: BTS and LIS:TC. But this time its more difficult for them to make originals vibe. We didn't see Chloe either and this conserns me a littlebit. I want it so beautiful as the first game and I hope it will be. If I couldn't recognize Hannah Telle's voice, I couldn'rt say that was Max. We saw that Max's power is incresed. I hope they can tell Max correctley and didn't change our beloved character. Everything is so importent for us. This time Deck Nine has a big challange. I believe in them. My initial reaction was: Holy Wowser, as I didn't even expect a game that continues the original.
As for Chloe, I hope they do her justice. So far, I obviously don't know how this will play out. But in a story with literally travelling between different realities, I'm sure, a lot of things can and will happen. As long as her character doesn't get something similar to the Joel-treatment, I'm surely invested in this. Also, I doubt, that they would alienate a big part of their fan base.
For now, I'm very excited and curious :)

The return of Max is such wild news!! I wasn't expecting it to ever happen. At the moment I'm intrigued, cautiously excited and wondering about Chloe. I hope Max will still feel like the same character; I wonder what she'll be like now after all these years. Very happy to hear Hannah Telle as Max again :)
I’m actually glad that they improved on the graphics, cause back then the characters barley had any facial expressions and if looked creepy

Have also bern vindicated as to Max still having her powers in either of the orriginal timelines.
Always suspected her piwers would develop too,as she only had a short week chasing her tail in LiS1.

Makes sense for her to look a bit different if it's been 8 or 10 years since LiS 1. She still looks like herself, people do somewhat change with age. I don't mind this design.
I feel so excited for this game! I screamed when I realised I was looking at a trailer. Finally we get Max back. With the same voice actress! Thats amazing! And the game looks fun and mysterious. Cant wait to hear more! :D
Dang you were fast!! Agh, honestly I loved seeing an aged up version of Max. We've all grown up since roaming Blackwell's halls with her, I'm really curious how they'll make us feel like she's the same old Max, but also show how she has changed since the massively traumatizing events all those years ago. Something about there being life after all of that happened makes me hopeful-I hope that they don't portray her as too "heroic" in this game, because I feel like you can't go through what she did and just have that all tidily tucked away.

I was Initially very excited...
Now after seeing the trailer, I am a biiiiit put off and I am not sure if I am justified in that feeling.
1. This trailer feels 100% like a D9 production. That handcrafted deep love and care that DNTND brought to the series does not feel to be there. First impressions, this game feels much more cheery, upbeat and modern to the times. I was on reddit just before watching this video and someone questioned if THIS Max is our Max or another from a different timeline. I speculate they ask this because they themselves are in disbelief of what was presented and no sign of Chloe. So to cope, their only out is hope this Max is another.
Regardless it is a great question because the mechanics of time permit this to be true however would D9 risk such a thing on such a Titan of a title.
2. I think nearly all of us is stuck in the past. Going off what was put in front of us for so many years that our own imaginings became cannon. Me personally, I was expecting more of the same dark and suspenseful tone. Every game to come out after LIS1 is compared to that game so I was expecting to be transported into another world where I care about the environment..characters.
I don't want to be too judgey because im still excited as all hell to see Max so I will wait for more media to come out.
Regardless I will buy this game guaranteed.
Maybe this will be another major hit and us veteran fans fall in love all over again!

My biggest question/worry with this game is where is Chloe? As if she is not in a relationship with Max I’m just going to be so mad and salty about it. As it would feel like an betrayal

One thing that I don't like about her new look is her eyes. Her eyes in the 0:52 clip are WAY too light colored/bright. Max has desaturated dark blue eyes, they shouldn't look like that even in bright light. Making them darker will give a softer look, which would make it look more like Max again.
I can't believe she's back though! I REALLY REALLY hope the game will be good and that Max still feels like the old Max

From what I gathered, she tried to save Safi when she found her body, but having not used her power in years, it didn't work. Safi is described as being Max's current best friend, likely meaning this game follows Bay ending. The comics showed what would happen to Max in Bae ending, so not wanting to conflict with that, Deck Nine will likely stay in the timeline where Chloe is gone. Max will be realing from the similarity of the experience and might justify accepting the risks of using her powers to avoid losing another close friend. She also knows that the killer could strike again, and her power grants her a means of defending herself as well as others. Max will likely explain the cliffnotes of what happened with Chloe when telling the living Safi about her power. We will get more info on Thursday the 13th at Noon ET, 9 am PT. They may or may not confirm Chloe's exclusion or inclusion then.
I got a heart attack when i saw the thumbnail and Dontnod as the uploader, then the next shocker was that Max is back, she changed so much that i couldn't tell it was her. Holy crap, is this the story from the comics?

I feel like this game wouldn’t make sense, Max knows what her powers could do when she messes with time. Idk I see no point. If she could end up saving her friend then she could save Chloe.
What worries me most is lack of Chloe and the fact that someone random upgrades her powers when in the original game it was the fact that it was Chloe that made the game what is was, our bond to us triggered these events. Now it seems like she's just saving anyone really

I'm glad that we could see a double moon there because that probably means that they natural changes and disasters are also coming back. If they wouldn't have, the first game wouldn't work anymore for the massage the first game had right. With the consequence of using the time power being the natural disasters, so if she now could just conveniently use the time power for like a different thing and no natural disaster, would happened that would ruin the first game.
Also, I feel like Max needs to have a strong reason to use her time power again. Because at least I always thought she's probably not using it anymore because of what happened in the first game.
As far as Chloe appearing in this game goes, let’s hypothetically go with the Bae Ending.
I would say that Chloe will appear in either of these scenarios:
1. At the beginning of the game in a dream or a flashback. Or in photos in Max’s Apartment.
2. Max will video/phone call Chloe in the first episode.
3. Max will have a mental breakdown in the last episode and Chloe will appear in a vision to offer advice or encouragement.
This is a nightmare, im leaving lis after decknine screwing over Chloe like this

I’m excited but I hope it doesn’t make Bay canon over Bae. Nervous since Chloe wasn’t in the trailer. They better not give let down the Pricefield shippers, they are at least 92% of the fan base.
After hearing Max's power sorta evolve? I started wandering maybe that both endings of the first life is strange is cannon like obviously you can pick what ending you want and you get to see that outcome and you can see the choice you didn't pick I'm just making speculations I'm just hyped for this
I wish DontNod got to make this, D9 got Max looking like Steph. Im glad Max is back but making Chloe barely in it doesnt sit right with me. I really hope they just hiding her reveal, i dont know anyone whos a huge fan of Max and LIS who wouldnt want to see Chloe too
And it's not just the fact we want Chloe but it's about what Chloe meant to the franchise, how this game as I read somewhere is totally stand-alone so it feels like they are capitalising on our love for Max without providing what made us love her in a way, it was Chloe that made Max have powers, not some random Safi... I feel a bit torn here.
@StopMeOh I'm seeing a lot of Twitter reactions saying D9 is just copying and pasting True Colors and just putting Max in it. It's another murder mystery again where Alex/Max doesn't know who they can trust and all they know is Gabe/Safi is dead lol

I feel like in the first game and also before the storm the characters still had very distinctive faces within the later life strange games everything just kind of looks a little bit more generic and sayme character design wise like typical other video games that are styleized like this.
If this is based on sacrifice chloe ending....how does she have her powers if she tecnically never got em?

Biggest issue is lack of Chloe, I agree... it is our bond to her that made the game what is was... the reason why we got powers. Giving Max new powers because of some random girl kinda deminishes it, it feels like. The game is not connected to the original, or so I read, which isn't good news.

OK People calm down, we got one trailer to give us the premise of the game. We don't know if we WILL see Chole or NOT. Maybe in some timeline Chloe will be there maybe not. And Maybe Max will tell the Story of Chloe to Someone of major Importance to Max! let's Just see what happens First! Geez!
no nostalgia vibes, no indie vibes, nothing about this screams life is strange outside of max coming back (which imo seems slapped onto a story that doesn't need her to be the main character and its 100% fan service). This trailer reminds me way more of twin mirror which wasn't very good. The colors and tone remind me of it and even the power visuals look similar to that game. Even the guy at 0:32 looks EXACTLY like the main character from that game.
Personally this trailer did not look impressive at all, we're back to the same plot again and its not giving life is strange vibes. I'll definitely wait for more trailers and see if im proven wrong but yea so far, im FAAAAAAAAAR more excited for lost records, a game that does give off life is strange vibes and has an intriguing plot.
Long time waiting to see this announcement. I personally do not mind an older Max. And I don't mind a new game minus Chloe--I would have saved the town anyway. But I am concerned that game developers tend to get stuck in a rut. The first LiS was fine. But continuous sequels of Max playing Nancy Drew is not very imaginative; I would rather see Max dealing with all the consequences of her past choices, and trying to move through her current period answering for them. Oh god. Deck Nine. Game looks and feel nothing like the first 2 games. Dontnod have a very unique style and this look terrible. Another bad fanficiton just like True Colors and BTS. Lost Records give us that same LiS vibe but this is doing nothing for me. What a shame.

Saying this looks terrible, tells me you are not a gamer. There is not really others studios than DOTNOD and Deck Nine, who can push this quality visuals on adventure games. This game looks lightyears ahead of its comeptitions, like the As Dusk falls, that was still a decent game.

To be honest, I never think that they will bring max back 😯 I'm very excited but when i see the video, like you, I also didn't feel like she is max. Maybe in the game with the voice we will feel like she is actually her but now... I don't know... On the other hand, bringing max back but not mentioning about cloe at all?? I don't know how it would work... I'm happy that the original character is finally back but I don't have high expectations about it. I don't want to be disappointed 🥲
