Funeral Doom is something I never thought I'd be in to but here we are 😂 Once I listened to AHAB- Call of the wretched sea I was hooked. The new Bell Witch is certainly not for everyone but it resonates with me. Each to their own. Keep up the great work guys and Happy New year!
Happy new year man!
I like my Doom like I like my Brisket. LOW AND SLOW. If it's faster than 10 BPM I don't wanna hear it. :)
Happy new year lads! 🤘🤘
Ditto, mate!
@@forgemastermetal we should have a chat about music in the new year or something!
That would be AWESOME dude! Anytime!
I loved how you guys put the videos on in the background, no doubt to show the trolls that the backdrop is NOT a friggen green screen lol
Hahaha checkmate, Trolls!!
When Bell witch's mirror reaper came out I struggled to get into it as well. It wasn't until I decided to watch the 1920s Man who laughs with the album as the soundtrack and now I love mirror reaper. Now I use funeral doom albums as soundtracks for older movies that I just mute and turn on subtitles lol.
Dude that’s a badass idea lol
I'm absolutely with you when it comes to An Autumn For Crippled Children, I love a lot of their stuff but it's got to a point where it's how can we miss you if you won't go away. I think they need time to just allow some new stuff to ferment like a fine wine, because right now they're pumping out supermarket own brand screw top bottles of plonk. (I'm not sure if "plonk" for cheap wine is a very uniquely British colloquialism)
My choice for disappointment of the year is actually Primordial - How It Ends. I absolutely love Primordial too, I love their back catalogue, they're tremendous live, but that album just felt really dull and forgettable. I've spun it several times and it just isn't sticking with me at all.
Yeah man they really need to do SOMETHING to adapt their sound.
I have always been skeptical about Funeral Doom until I was introduced to some records. Still not a big fan but I think this records are pretty damn good, you should check them out ;)
Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea
Ethereal Shroud - Trisagion
Un - Sentiment
OAK - Lone (with a bit of death metal to the mixture)
As a portuguese metalhead I wanna recomend you a band from my country that put out an amazing record this year, hope you like some industrial metal
Bizarra Locomotiva - Volutabro
Have a great year full of great music \m/
You need to be in the right mood and mindset to listen to funeral doom. My favorite is Abyssmal Sorrow
Cool bands! OAK's last album was rad, and I enjoyed that Ahab record. Let me add Clouds - Despărțire and Omination - NGR.
Great video, I agree so much
We appreciate your time!
If you don't like Funeral Doom, then was Bell Witch really disappointing or exactly as expected. Either way, great video and gosh what a great year for metal. You guys are doing the good work...
I enjoy Funeral Doom! Bands like Omination and Clouds have delivered impressive records. Outside of those, however, not much gets me going in the funeral doom category. - Ben
All agree except Bell Witch. Though I liked Mirror Reaper a lot more than Clandestine Gate, still interested in how the follow it up. I saw them live with Spirit Possession earlier this year and their set was really good. Had some video playing in the background that was synchronized with the set. I'm still in awe of how they stay on time playing with such a slow tempo. If they aren't using a click track that's just some next level talent that is easy to overlook.
Sounds badass!
Spirit Possession is SOOOO good! Was that at NWTF that you saw them, by chance?
@@jesseleavy5841 it was at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC
I will defend that Myrkur album forever! but I understand the dream pop-ish influences might turn off a lot of people 😅
I love dream pop, the production just feels suuuuper unbalanced
I didn't mind the dream pop stuff either, I just felt like it was inconsistent. I liked some songs, and others I was just kinda bored listening to. Also, I LOVED Folkesange so this one just paled in comparison for me.
I'm so glad you mentioned Myrkur. I'm a long-time fan so I didn't want to dislike it....but I just CANNOT get into it. I still love Amalie Bruun though. 🖤
Definitely! We hope she keeps making records.
Im soo happy to hear you guys not jumpijg on the band wagon with Sleep Token and being real with it
As always, love the show. I had heard the following from BangerTV but I think Metallica is at a point in their career where they can explore the progressive/experimental elements in their style, I really hope they explore that route leading to more tunes that are akin to the back third of the album. Code Orange's Mirror is one of my non-metal fav songs of the year. I never dove too deep into CO, this was certainly an interesting album for a CO newb.
Yeah I agree on Metallica. That mid tempo hard rock style is where the band shines.
Watching John listen to funeral doom, it was suddenly so clear. The music would never stop. It would never leave him, and it would never hurt him, never change its tempo, or say it was too busy to spend time with him. It would always be there. Of all the would-be genres that came and went over the years, this thing, this funeral doom, was the only one who measured up. In an insane world, it was the sanest choice.
Idk what this is but I love it lol
Funeral Doom can be very cool though, in my opinion. One of my favourite bands is Ahab. And the previous Bell Witch is pretty sick! Haven't listened to this one yet.
Ahab is an awesome band
Mild disagree on funeral doom in general and Bell Witch in particular. Dig the new one. Saw them live, the pure sub-woofed tone nearly knocked me out. Killer.
On a different note, please tell Daylight Dies to hurry up. Tool-like epochs between albums.
I'm sure they're killer live!
The October Tide album was one of my most disappointed albums as well. Was really looking forward to it... Decembre Noir which released around the same time outshined them in every feasible way imaginable this year. Good luck with all the spite comments your going to get for that Sleep Token pick btw. Lol ST fans can be pretty.... vocal.
Lol - I can't wait :P
I agree on all your picks. I'm a huge goth rock fan, but The 69 Eyes lost their way years ago.
Also I really like Sleep Token's aesthetic and that air of 'mysticism' they create by remaining anonymous, but their music is always hit or miss for me. Very few bands can be eclectic and consistent and sadly imo they're not one of them. They're like a dark/occult band for people who aren't really into metal, but to be fair I have nothing but respect to them for trying something different in a time where everybody shares all their personal lives in social media.
What’s the last big goth rock release you’ve loved that recent?
@@forgemastermetal
Richter und Herker by Oomph! I also liked Maggot Heart's "Hunger". It's raw but enjoyable
With how many albums/genres that shown off here that you already don't dig, how are they disappointing? That really feels weird to have hopes up for something you already didn't like.
There are so many bands mid discography that we’ve gotten into because of people recommending them, or the singles being great, etc. All of these are just examples of albums that had some promise and left us disappointed. I’m not dismissing music before I hear it. That’s dumb.
"Dawn Razor" by Fields Of The Nephilim had some serious country influence to it. I can't recommend that LP highly enough. The song "Preacher Man" is a great entry point for them.
Oh hell yeah, I’m in that kinda mood today. Thanks dude happy new year!
For anyone that needs help understanding (seems like a lot of super confounded people in the comments) why Sleep Token is popular it’s mainly the vocalist and lyrics, as most casual listeners to music go by the vibe and vocals. Then look into the lyrics. Their lead singles off Eden really got them “popular” Sure you can hate them and punch air. But the guy is instantly recognizable and can actually sing live, having a “sound” is key when tons of bands have interchangeable leads. Added to that they’ll then they’ll have a heavy guitar section which ropes in some interested in metal but would dry heave at a tech death album. A talented drummer that holds the variety together and spindle in some experimentation with different sounds and atmospheres so every song isn’t samey sounding. That being said I really enjoy them and am happy for their success. Of all people metal people shouldn’t be concerned about their “look” They are a bit of a breath of fresh air in the auto tuned cleans. The “we are more evil”. Etc etc and that one dude going off acting like a fan of Sleep Token wouldn’t know what to do with a BTBAM or whatever album. That would be like me saying you wouldn’t know what to do with a Zappa album. You sound mighty pretentious and a bunch of other words 😂
Never said I hated the band. I said the album felt very in cohesive and I was disappointed because the singles were good.
@@forgemastermetal I just mean in general I see a lot of random hate for bands like Sleep Token and Spiritbox because of their success. Even Orbit Culture, it’s like people want an album to be one dude playing all the instruments in his basement who is unsigned releasing bangers.
Ahhh yeah I see what you mean. I agree with you man. Polarizing people can be good for a band though. That’s how you get the diehard fans.
I don't like sleep token at all and you're pretty much right about their success
The vocals are part of the problem for me. I cannot stand that style of singing. The songs aren’t great either. Definitely over hyped band. And the whole “worship” thing? Cringe.
Reading these comments, I feel I have to weigh in. I avoid funeral doom like the plague for one simple reason, it's an iteration of the voice in my head that tries to make me feel worthless.
That's why I may never get into it, and I feel bittersweet about you naming an album as a disappointment.
Wow! That's super insightful. Thank you for that esoteric wisdom.
When it comes to some of these, Bell Witch especially, I feel it’s unfair to lump it into a disappointing albums list when it’s not your thing to begin with.
We’ve been converted on many bands with albums later in their discography. With the hype around the band, and how much we love doom, it’s fair to say we were disappointed. I see your point though. Happy new year man!
(Almost) totally agree (i do like bell witch) Myrkurs first few albums I really enjoyed but downhill since; autumn for crippled children felt quite stale.
My personal disapointment was FREYA - fight as one. A long standing metalcore band Ive liked; with groove and thrash elements ft Karl from Earth Crisis... But this was a total lackluster release that felt like just going through the motions. My hot take, blackbraid was very meh.
Nechochwen is a WAY better and more interesting band doing the Native American black metal thing.
Even in Chokehold you can hear pop and gospel akcents. There is plenty of inspiration in pop, Yes, but also from gospel. If u think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Its transition between genres. For a metalhead searching for inspiration there isnt as much to find out but as a whole, you can say, this is album for anyone.
I see what you mean!
I think the only true disappointment I had this year was Evile with their album The Unknown. It’s just showcasing a shift in sound to supremely boring groove metal/hard rock after their pretty awesome thrash attack of their previous album. Yaaaaawn!
Interesting to hear you pick that one!
Good news Is more amazing albums than disappointing ones
Agreed!
Couldn't agree more on Myrkur. The album feels so disjointed. The first time I listened to it, I thought "THAT'S IT??? WHAT WAS THAT???" That being said, the 2 heaviest songs are straight up bangers (Valkyriernes Sang, Blazing Sky).
72 Seasons wasn't disappointing at all, just standard modern day Metallica. Even though the album didn't rank too high on my year end list, Screaming Suicide and Inamorata were my 2 favorite songs by anyone in 2023.
Closure is my first An Autumn For Crippled Children album, and I really enjoyed it.
Don't expect much more from An Autumn for Crippled Children... they peaked years ago.
I am a giant fan of Sleep Token. I discovered them way back in 2017 when they hadn’t played a single show yet and they only had an EP and an upcoming EP coming out at the time. I feel more and more as time passes by that those two EPs that were released in 2016 and 2017 are a lot better than the full album stuff, and of the full albums, I prefer their debut from 2019 called Sundowning: a very diverse record. I think that in order to appreciate the band, you can’t think of them as a metal band. I don’t.
My issue with Take Me Back to Eden is with the two eight minute songs Ascensionism and the title track. Why the hell is there a Travis Scott inspired trap section in both of those songs? So weird; I feel like this is the first time they’ve really fumbled the ball a little bit. Also, the new album is not produced by George Lever, their longtime producer that has been around since the first EP, resulting in the drum sound being completely neutered… which is a shame, because of the drums on the last two Sleep Token records were exceptionally produced and really brought out the best in their drummer.
I admit I need to go back and listen to their back catalogue. Thanks man happy new year!
@@forgemastermetal no problem. Same to you guys!🎉
@@wheelsofmercury I actually really enjoy the title track. But some of my fav in their catalogue is off sundowning.
Hey boys completely agree on the Nita Strauss and Myrkur. Metallica met my expectations which weren't very high. Certainly not something I'll revisit if I want to listen to them. I'll stick to their early material. My disappointment of the year is Fire Down Below - Low Desert Surf Club. It's just not a very consistent album. I am a fairly new fan of Immortal and the new just doesn't live up to the back catalogue.
Thanks for adding that one to the mix!
I'm sorry, but I have to ask: why would Bell Witch be a disappointment if you don't care for them to begin with? I get why people don't vibe with them; funeral doom is an acquired taste and I'm not gonna try to convince anyone to like it, but why put in on a list of most disappointing albums if it's not something you would vibe with anyway? Not trying to be snarky or contrary either, just trying to understand. Love the channel guys!
Don’t be sorry, I’ve said this in a few other comments. We get into bands albums in the middle of their discography all the time. People LOVE Bell Witch, so we always try to give things a shot. Hence the disappointment here. Seems many fans were “meh” on the record as well.
Who knows, maybe someday it’ll connect. We LOVE doom, so here’s hoping.
@@forgemastermetal That makes sense. I will say they fucking KILL live. I mean it's a different experience than say, watching a really good death metal band, but their live show just drips atmosphere, and seeing the musicianship up close is phenomenal.
Finally someone else said it. Sleep Token is Imagine Dragons buying some 7 string Ibanez guitars while listening to their local R&B station in the studio. It’s not Metal, I’m sorry. 3 tracks made my playlist though simply because of II’s drumming which is excellent 👍🏾
Imagine Dragons with 7 strings, yep lol
Definitely Sleep Token is Metal, but they can be whatever they want and there is the beautiful in the band.
If you like more, or like less what they do it's admirable the talent they got, maybe for a "true" metal fan this will not sound very "what supposed to be metal", but whichever that knows about music, composition and production will appreciate Take Me Back To Eden.
Definitely this album isn't for Trues, is an album for open mind people, that is that.
@@mrskarberinn2634 You were doing good til you added “open minded” if you knew my tastes I’m the definition of open minded but this album got out of the gates with us bangin our heads and then proceeded to put us in our feelings. A sound only today’s generation of emo rap lovers would appreciate. No offense but there’s a reason this album is so divisive in the community because we want to hear R&B when it’s time to hear it and not randomly.
@CoachSet I disagree bro, but is your opinion and don't wanna be disrespectful, so if you think that, is good, whatever
@@mrskarberinn2634 it’s allgood they’ve earned huge praise and I’m still a huge fan of the rockers 🤘🏾🤘🏾
I love Metallica, particularly the first four Albums, but 72 Seasons was a huge disappointment... Happy new Year🤘
hey you too man!
Take Me Back to Eden is my album of the year tbh. No other album made me feel more than that one did.
No kidding? What stood out for you in particular?
@@forgemastermetal The poetic lyrics, the dynamic song structures, the balance between heavy and soft, the genre blending, the excellent R&B sections... lots of sexy as well as crushing moments. The title track alone straight up folded me in half.
@@forgemastermetal The whole album also really speaks to you if you've gone through heartbreak.
Totally agree.
I picked up more albums with high hopes and they got multiple tries and they got put away to be forgotten with much disappointment 😂😂😂
I feel like I’m going to get crucified for saying this but I couldn’t get into the new albums from Outer heaven and celestial sanctuary. I couldn’t get past the vocals on the outer heaven album they just sound like white noise and unnecessarily layered. Celestial Sanctuary vocals are louder than anything else during the songs. All the instruments seem buried. The only thing I like about those albums is the cover art.
Interesting takes, Metal Mike!
I wouldn't rate 72 Seasons as a disappointing album. To me, a disappointing album is an album that failed to meet expectations. At this point I really don't have any more expectations from Metallica after bad to mediocre release after another, basically since Load and Reload. I'm not counting Garage Inc. nor S&M because well, they are cover songs and live orchestral versions of existing songs, not original albums. So Load and Reload were disappointing to say the least, St. Anger was absolutely horrible, Death Magnetic and Hardwired to Self Destruct mediocre and now 72 Seasons I see as a sort of return to form. Is it a great album? Not really. However I do think it's the best album in the 'new', as in post Black Album, Metallica. Metallica until Black Album was one thing, Metallica after the Black Album was something else entirely. I know, I know, it's the Black Album itself that started the shift but it was still an amazing album so I still count it as part of the 'good' Metallica, unlike some of the purists who still absolutely hate it because of said shift. So yeah, can't really be disappointed by something I had 0 expectations for, and certainly not for their best attempt at releasing a good album since forever.
I'll probably get flack for this but for me personally a big disappointment was "Anno 1696" from INSOMNIUM. I adore this band and have loved them right from the beginning . . . but this album just doesn't sound like an Insomnium album to me. They went for a blackened style here which I found jarring. 3 guitarists and no solos is just a waste too, especially considering how good a lead guitarist Markus is. Also throwing another ballad near the end of the album, when we already had the beautifully melodic "Argent Moon" EP was unnecessary. An experiment that didn't really work is how I'd sum this one up.
Wow, yeah we really enjoyed that one. Interesting to see some differing opinions. Thanks for sharing!
I remember listening to the October Tide album for 2 tracks and hating the guitar tone. Too weak, the death metal didn't work at all
Which is wild because their new Era has been pretty damn good, so far.
Yea that Nita Strauss album is weird. The more extreme songs are so much better and I agree, The Wolf You Feed, Consume the Fire and Momentum are absolute bangers. She should focus on that side of her musical style cos man, she can fucking shred.
Totally agree with you!
Take Me Back To Eden whilst not being as good as the masterpiece that is This Place Will Become Your Tomb was still the best album I heard this year by far.
There are definitely some cool tracks, but as a cohesive piece, it doesn't flow.
@@forgemastermetal Depends how you listen to albums I suppose. I mean it's not really a concept album is it? It just has a theme running through it.
72 Seasons is metal made by the yellow no-name brand (Canadians like me will get that joke.😉).
No Name has entered the chat 😜
no one who was paying attention was actually surprised the pop-tallica was disappointing.
i'm 50 and understand that i'll never be 18 again. those old men haven't figured that out yet.
lol yeah - for some reason though we’re all like “MAYBE THIS TIME ITLL BE GOOD”
I hate to say this, but I saw bell witch a couple months ago and they headlined. 15-20 min into their set I just ended up leaving 😢😂. I couldn’t take it anymore
Wow!! That flies directly in the face of all the comments that say, "See them live! They're great live!" haha
@@forgemastermetal yup😂😂. Absolute snooze
I am a huge fan of funeral doom and Ahab's new album is my album of the year but bell witch is most disappointed album for me
That ahab album is great!
Finally someone that said the obvious... Sleep Tolken and Metallica new albums were amongst the worst of the year
Metallica wasn't the WORST, but it certainly was bloated.
Im with you on sleep token that album did nothing for me... i heard a song by them early on and was interested, but man, that went flaccid quickly.
I love your imagery of going flaccid hahaha
Hey guys ...great list...
I totally agree with Sleep Token...absolutely boring as fuck....not metal...
Can't stand them...
I mean, non-metal is fine, it just sucks when a band can't decide if they want to be metal or pop. It's really hard to find a balance.
I didnt care for Immortal's War Against All or Evile's clone of the Black Album.
I didn’t even check those out tbh
I don't get the Sleep Token hype either to be honest. However, I absolutely prefer the softer side of the new record for what it is, mildly interesting pop music, while the heavier parts have almost no real bite or groove IMO.
What bugs me the most is that "Vessel" can fucking SING and it's wasted on bland music and auto tune.
I totally agree with this.
"Spine" was a huge disappointment. Messy is right. I really liked "M" and the Folk material but I couldn't even listen to "Spine".
Yeah, the production is what really bothered me
Ps guys. I’ve been obsessed with an album this week. It came out in March/April I believe.
Ukrainian band - labyrinthus stellarum 🖤
Should be right up your alley. Check it out guys 😊
Thanks for the recommendation!
Bro how can you love doom that much but also hate funeral doom that much, to be fair that's by far the weakest Bell Witch release but Mirror Reaper is one of the best metal records of the last decade,
other than that I agree with every pick on here
Funeral doom doesn't move and groove enough for me. If I'm going to listen to something that's lumbering and slow, I'll throw on some drone or ambient stuff. Even Mirror Reaper was pretty meh. For me, top-tier funeral doom is Omination and Clouds. Everything else is pretty bland.
I agree, playing slow isn’t exciting, just dull. Don’t know how people don’t fall asleep to most of the bands.
Not a bad album by any means but kalmahs new album was a retread of Palo but with less staying power. Kind of disappointed.
No kidding? I thought that was one of the better ones of the year!
Eh veil of sin was alright but then I hear blatant copies of riffs from For The Revolution and then the songs just plod along afterward. Like I said not a bad album but I thought they should’ve done much better.
@Drpavel564 They tend to reuse a lot of riffs throughout their entire discography. Still one of my favorite melodeath bands
was never a big sleep token fan ??????? don't get why so popular?!
Same lol
The sleep token subreddit is gonna be pissed
I hope they Taylor Swift us.
Sleep Token is for fans of Tool and Imagine Dragons.
Yes lol
Thats an insult to tool
@@Mxulin periphery?
@@merginator definitely closer
For me the worst part about the Metallica album is that it feels like wasted potential.
There are some decent riffs on here but it feels like, at the stage where back then they would've said "ok we have a nice base for a song, now let's add the real spice!" they went "eh, good enough I guess? on to the next song."
I totally hear what you're saying. Some amazing riffs but they're overshadowed by all the flexing.
I never even listened to the new Metallica album, but the other day I was playing some "Best metal albums of 2023" playlist in the background while doing some work, and suddenly a song really threw me off, i wondered who even has the nerve to sound like a weak copy of Metallica in 2023, goofy rhythms and all. Well, you guessed it, it was Metallica.
lol - Metallica memed themselves
Sleep Token is like everything I hate in modern metal concentrated into a single band. Overproduced, all over the place stylistically, too clean, completely brickwalled, and with really off-putting soaring vocals. It's like the polar opposite of what I like in Punk and Metal.
Yeah, the production on that Sleep Token is SUPER modern.
Sleep Token was my most disappointing album of the year. They’ve become the Imagine Dragons of metal.
I did surprisingly enjoyed the new Metallica album. Definitely too long but much more enjoyable than Hardwired.
I know what you mean about the Metallica record.
I think Sleep Tokken has a handful of incredible songs on that album but as a whole doesn’t mesh great. I wouldn’t consider them a metal band tho.
Yeah it’s a mess as a record
Metallica was ok. Played it a lot at he beginning, but now i rarely play it, and yes its way too long. I had never heard Code Orange before and have to say its in my top 10. I like the disjointedness, hommage to the 90s but really like the dark underbelly of The Above. Sleep Token..... Theres snippets of them i like, but over all i just find them pretentious and dull.
I think they’re talented and need to hone their sound. They could be a great band.
Rita Strauss, best song of the year? Are you stoned?
The songs that rip on that album seriously rip
Mirror reaper was great. Clandestine gate felt like a boring retread. Sucked
Definitely! Mix it up, boys!
Honestly my picks are
Evile The Unknown Thrash Metal turned to a Pantera style
Liturgy 93696 opinion just boring and weird
Beartooth Might Love Myself genetic same style nothing too exciting
Mid Token Take Me Back to Eden just awful
This one might be the worst black metal album this year Immortal War Against All
Avenged Sevenfold Life Is But a Dream
Yeah those were all pretty terrible too lol
Nerd audience, nerd bands , nerd soft hosts, yep Im too old
cool contribution
Metallica should retire, they had a handful of good songs on Hardwired and even fewer for this one. BLAH.
Eyyyyy lolol
I stopped caring about them years ago. They don't really care anymore, I respect their legacy but yeah they suck now
There's a reason why most true metalheads call them Midtallica or Mehtallica.
Yes stop well unfortunately punters keep forking out cash for their pensions
Not bad by any means but I was disappointed by Downfall of Gaia, the previous one was really great and this one just okay. Also disappointed by Mercenary, couple bangers but the rest is pretty meh.
Metallica could be a good album with less songs and a duration of +- 45 mins.
I liked that downfall record but I agree it was a step down.
Metallica “72 seasons” ugh so disappointing agreed
Love the band still tho
Yeah I’m in the same boat, happy new year dude!
The new Maladie was a huge disappointment for me. Way to much saxophone 🤮
Wow! How do you feel about saxophone in metal / non-jazz music, in general?
@forgemastermetal if used in the right way its sick 🤘🏻
How dare you put Metallica among the disappointments?! Don't you know that they are going to win a Grammy?
By the way, that was sarcasm. I completely agree with your take.
Haha we gotchu
Glad to see Code Orange, Sleep Token, even Bell Witch on the list. Metallica - not so much, don't know if its fair but for me they're royalty, they've been finished since the 90s and I would've excluded them from such a list
Yeah, we hear what you mean. Hard to be disappointed in something you don't even hold in high regard, haha.
How can you be disappointed with Bell Witch when you clearly hate Funeral Doom? That's like me saying I was disappointed in Method Man, but I think all hip hop and rap is boring garbage.
We get into bands albums in the middle of their discography all the time. People LOVE Bell Witch, so we always try to give things a shot. Hence the disappointment. Seems many fans were “meh” on the record as well.
@@forgemastermetal I agree with ya. This album was....rinse and repeat for the band.
I definitely don't hate Funeral Doom; it just takes WORK for a funeral Doom band to impress me. Omination and Clouds are some of my favorites in the subgenre. - BenFo
@@forgemastermetal Clouds is fucking sick. I also like Doom:VS.
Awesome band, for sure.
I just don't get the hype for Bands like Sleep Token Ice Nine Kills and Avatar. They are too gimicky for my taste. The Fanbase has clearly never listened to Deftones, LOATHE, Code Orange, Dillinger or TesseracT. They are as pretentious as the worst Tool fans. There is a difference between Genre bending ad spray and pray style songwriting. Jesus if you gave these guys a BTBAM album they wouldn't knw what the fuck to do with it.
Yeah I’m not sure what makes them so huge compared to other bands that clearly do it better. Maybe it’s the gimmicks?
These bands are very approachable and have a level of heavy that they like. Avatar has some great songs, Black Waltz is a really listenable album. For a lot of people bands like this are a gateway to other heavier bands. Did you listen to the music you do now when you first started out? Probably not. My first metal album was Cowboys from hell. I now listen to bands like Absent In Body, and Archspire over the last year my tastes have greatly evolved, I still love extreme metal, but now I'm jamming Black Pumas, Skin shape, Health, and a lot of Sybreed. There is something out there for everyone, enjoy the ride.
Honest question for you. How could anyone at this point be disappointed in Metallica at this point? We all know what they’ve been for 20 years. How did you think that this album would be anything but an extension of the dad/butt rock they’ve been mailing in record after record for decades
Because I enjoyed a couple of the singles
@@forgemastermetal fair enough.
Has there been a good Metallica album, and I mean a REALLY good Metallica album in... Oh I dunno, 30 or more years? When people say they like Metallica, what they really mean is they like The Black Album 🤣
lol maybe
TOKEN AHHAHAHAHAH, Wtf is this justin bieber?
Lmao
With the nigga pop vocals ahhahahahahahahhaahahha
*looks at thumbnail*
... "never recommend channel"
No one cares dude, lol.
SleepToken is not metal....so it can't be disappointing? Right?
We don't always talk about metal.
Okay, I only mentioned it because the video is titled The Most Disappointing Metal Albums of '23. Cheers to '24! @@forgemastermetal
@@niwdoog We titled it that to appease the algorithm.
Thank you for a perfect summary of a terrible album that is 72 seasons. I have seen this as the best on some RUclipsrs lists and it just makes me laugh. YOu describe this perfectly. It's just not good and, uninspired writing and every song sounds the same. Rating this best just takes away all credibility. Keep doing what you're doing!!
Wow, that's wild to know some people put it on their best list. Certainly not the best of the year.
I can’t help but think that Myrkur is a complete gimmick band. The “black metal” riffs are generic and some are blatantly plagiarized. Her vocals sound like every other fairy worship folk chick out there. I can’t imagine ever liking a new Metallica album. I respect them for still touring like they do, and putting out albums 40 years in. However, they simply don’t sound like the Metallica I love anymore. Anyhow, Happy New Year gents.
Happy new year man!
Bell Witch is boring as fuck
Mirror Reaper was great - but yeah this new one was a big letdown
Content is good, but the eyes reading above the camera is kind of annoying 😢🙊
Sounds like a you problem bud 😘
go with the gods, forgemates! hehe ;)@@forgemastermetal
To me, Sleep Token is 'the Emperor's New Clothes' of metal; underneath all the hype, they have very little to offer, I think.. that latest Avenged Sevenfold album easily takes the 'first prize', though.. virtually unlistenable.. 😵💫
I never liked Avenged so I didn’t bother with the new one lol
What a no sense you write, they got so much to offer, in their style obviously, don't know and don't care what do you mean with "They don't got much to offer"
Hmm… yeah Metallica. 🤨 they really need to change it up. Or retire.
The old formula will not work anymore. The bands out there these days, are so highly skilled, that trying new things, should be the focus. RIP Metallica. 72 seasons was the last chance lol
They’ll keep making metal records on life support lol
Thrashiest one yet 😆
All those albums suck LOL 😂
🫡 It is what it is, Forgemate.
@@forgemastermetal Yep 👍🏼 it is
I expect disappointment from Metallica, their albums have been crap for years.
Eh, I dug a couple of the singles
@@forgemastermetal I think the last song I liked by them was ‘I disappear’
All those bands suck.
I wouldn’t say they all suck.
Why don't you made an album instead of brinda down the artist and musicians, you disgust me. Unsubscribed
bye felicia
Music is subjective. One man's treasure is another man's garbage. Sharing an opinion, even if divisive should not be limited. Go listen to RUclips reviewers that hype everything
