Absolutely stunning singing. Can’t believe it’s the same soprano I heard as Pamina at Covent Garden in 2017! The voice is just as beautiful - but there’s tremendous focus and dramatic strength here too. What an incredible talent.
This is my favourite version of an aria I have heard more than a hundred times. Siobhan really feels every single word. And alle appoggiaturas are sung correctly - for the first time in my experience. Thanks to the marvellous conductor Raphael Pichon!
There is no doubt that I love Siobhan Stagg as well as her fine technique, and she did a good job as Leonore. However, I think she is too lyrical and sweet-sounding for Leonore. I personally prefer steelier, more metallic, darker, and more incisive voices singing this role such as Christa Ludwig, Helene Wildbrunn, Rose Pauly, Shirley Verrett, Anny Konetzni, Erna Schlüter, and Astrid Varnay. I think Siobhan Stagg's voice is far more suitable for Antonia from Contes d'Hoffmann, Massenet's Manon, Amina from Sonnambula, Elvira from Puritani, Berthe from Prophete, Charpentier's Louise, and Leila from Pecheurs de Perles.

Best I have heard too, not just her, the horn, orchestra everything.
This singing goes straight to the heart! At least to mine.
