which just so happens to be why we drive those. and not the new ones. (although considering the frequency on which they are completely re-built every 5 years or so they pretty much are new anyway, other than the vin numbers ;) not that one strictly -has- to do that. they'll run just fine for 40-60 years without any maintenance at all ;)
It is incredible how you guys get these old cars running again. Its funny when the Mercedes drove past the Ford which was "eaten" up by rust :-) Keep up the good work guys, and thanks for filming in a good proper quality!
im actually very surprised it runs after a 12 year sit down. some simple DIY work to it, new fluids, thing would crank, unless it's out of time or you got blown seals.
That little diesel makes about 65 horsepower. I had one in a car. It required patience. In a van like this it will redefine slow. That said it's a very cool vehicle and I hope you give it lots of love.
Are you guys in estonia as good with the bodywork on these old vans as you are with their engines? I consider driving my 507D up there for my next holidays if so ;) Here it will cost me a fortune, I don't have, to get it fixed - the motor is so excellent though - I only have to change the filters frequently and need to keep the battery up... An old engineer once told me that the motor will outlive the body by more than 50 years XD
Watched the other video too. Great job guys. I always say people that know what to do with their hands and are not afraid to get them dirty will survive the zombie apocalypse.
Russians certainly know how to get the best out of old machinery. Not only did they get the engine to work but they got the whole vehicle moving under its own power. Amazing after being laid up for such a long time (and in Russian winters at that!).
+spartan 01 I really think he should do a lot of performance upgrades or do a motor swap and put a big cow catcher in the front and turn it into the European version of the jeepers creepers van!
Énorme ! Les vieux diesels sont vraiment increvables ! Sûr qu'avec 2 nouveaux phares et quelques bricoles de carrosserie, ce bon vieux mazout repartirait pour le service sans rechigner !
If you have changed its oils and various fluids it would be easier to start it for the first time. Also together with the new fuel lines you should've changed the little filter too. Air filter also. Just friendly advice, it is still amazing it started up! Since it was very difficult to start that one, have your checked if all the glow plugs were functioning?
Jeszcze rok temu jeździłem takim w pracy. Na polskie wioskowe dziurawe drogi nie wynaleziono nic lepszego. Wiadomo wszystko się psuje ale tego naprawić to taniocha. Tylko z komfortem ciężko. Ten mój niemiłosiernie był głośny w środku ehh

Runs and sounds better than some 2019 diesels today
yep
12 years and a million km over salted roads, well done MB and you Flexiny!
У меня такой же 1979 до сих пор на ходу!
Environment-friendly car. The whole smoke goes inside and is inhaled by the driver, whose lungs work as a DPF.
lmao
vodka as the def fluid for the human dpf
The only person being killed by the car's emissions is the driver. Seems fair to me.
''advantage''
It's gazenwagen. Nazi put a man inside and make him drive a little bit then he's down.

Used to drive one of these for a living 20 something years ago. Good van.
P.S. How many kilometers on the odometer?
in previous video it was something like 413.000km
+suomenpresidentti kaks miljoonaa
itelläni oli kunno mersun lavallinen... komea oli mutta pakko oli myydä :/
Aika kultaa muistot. Meteli sisällä aivan mahdoton. Ensimmäinen työtehtäväni Mercedes-korjaamolla 14.5.1979 oli tehdä 1000 km huolto tuollaiseen.
Never used, in a good condition
some service history
xgcqt5 few light rust patches, easy fix
"only one owner"
xgcqt5 she got her seat belts and lights and smoke emission test n all
hahaha

Do you plan restoration for it? Good ol' chap started almost right up after all that time. It is worth of respect.
he actually stareted it before in winter. check his vids!
this guy is one hell of a great mechanic!
Why? It's an old german Diesel.
it just got up, and walked out of it's grave
Needed a hand, some food and a bit of a patch in his shoes, that all!
Mercedes Never Die!!!!

Perfect truck for another jeepers creepers horror movie.
76Schoeneberg30 was thinking the same thing haha
yes, me too! Reminds me of that van!
I thought the same too :D
The COEs probably in a barn somewhere now!
Before all the diagnostic computer bullshit.
Achteruit rijdende gehaktstaaf. no you need a computer geek to fix it all. it's always the electronic components not the mechanicals
Back when Mercedes used to make quality reliable vehicles.
MonkeyWith72Magic well its not clever business to make a car that will last for 50 years
It changed when some people took over unfortunately.
Next video it's restored to perfect condition?
~pimp my ride~
in our country , we still have 407d on service
I drive a 507D daily :) My one and only mode of transportation :)
in mine too
+Chongwei Lee in mine too, but only in their box truck version.
And it's amazing the tyres stayed inflated!
This just came to my mind, that van would be great for a horrormovie! It looks so... haunted..

Somewhere in Poland still running until the next century.

Worth restoring , best vans made and highly fashionable again retro is here
Look at it! It's mint!
+mipmipmipmipmip hahahaha
o Lemurs Why not?
Hene193 its cringy unless you are a part of HG or you were part
o Lemurs I don't get why people always assume it is HG reference. As far as I know it was mostly used first in Roadkill.
Hene193 yea but they were talking just about condition of cars, everyone uses mint that way, but no one says ITS MINT besides HG
Jesus.. The shit I'll watch on youtube...
Car guys will be car guys...
I would do this all day start old cars and drive them around I love it!
Так этож Мерседес, по любасу заведётся)))
Всем добра ☺✌️
Oh wow! Didn't take too much to get that one going! Nice work
I love fixing old stuff like this. I'm in the process of restoring an old truck and an old beush mower right now...
im actually very surprised it runs after a 12 year sit down. some simple DIY work to it, new fluids, thing would crank, unless it's out of time or you got blown seals.

Amazing old truck!!!👍 you should restore it!!!!:)
Dude, you get him for like 1500 euros even less
Yes pleased restore this poor old van !
The engine is still good, but these old Mercedes diesels never die, not even after 3 million kilometers. But you can scrap the rest ;)
I wish I had such a graveyard of old vehicles

when the tractor had trouble I was like "shit holy fuck that thing must be rooted in good"

Beautiful when i see those old Vehicles come back to life. 😊

These guys knows their diesels! Impressive of both the car and the guys.
nothin better to see than the "hey kids i have candy" truck back on the road
Hahahahaahhahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
But then it's the slowest van and cops can easily catch up and stop it.
What a happy old car, just look at it.

You would definitely survive a zombie apocalypse. Nice work!
That 12 year old van still worked? That is amazing how well it drove. You should customize it or something.
Its far older than 12 years, it has been sitting for 12 years ...
Yep it's at the newest 30 years old
Russians certainly know how to get the best out of old machinery. Not only did they get the engine to work but they got the whole vehicle moving under its own power. Amazing after being laid up for such a long time (and in Russian winters at that!).
Mad Geordie why would you ever call these people russians, when they're clearly not?
Thank you Germany 🇩🇪 for this Industry
yep
Very creepy looking, but I love it.
+spartan 01 I really think he should do a lot of performance upgrades or do a motor swap and put a big cow catcher in the front and turn it into the European version of the jeepers creepers van!
Man, what a great van and scenery too.
i seen mercedes sprinters in worse condition than this
initialB 240 i seriously doubt that
im not joking, they werent too well looked after, and they do tend to rust as a result
Sprinters need love to stay alive!
initialB 240 I can confirm they rust away quickly
Only in England you see them on roads cutting people off the white lada driver but a van.
Estonian car numbers... That feeling when you leave in estonia and know that it has some kind on antique
Still, amazing to see that much views and subs on a channel that has only old rustbuckets.
Imagine if a sort of amusement park existed where you could find all cars on this channel and drive them in the woods
Now add "Free Weekendfestival tickets" and that creepy van is perfect.

Yes I tried riding a german once, it was awesome
a good wash, polishing and a bit of bondo here and there and it's good as new again
A few drops of paint here and there, and the old swabian sucker is as good as new :-D
Indeed. This proves that the simplest technic is nearly indestructible. You could never do this with any car past 1995. Too much electronic bullshit.
while still working huh the classic craftsmanship of old Mercedes

Are you going to fix it up, or was this just for fun?
Didn't see a foot of good body, there ain't nothing to fix unfortunately.
