Days of Heaven is my favourite Malick film. Assuming Criterion does its usual excellent work with the transfer, this will be one of the top releases of the year. I can't wait to get it. 👍

I absolutely loved this on 4k, It was my first time ever watching. Ive got my fingers crossed A Hidden Life gets the criterion treatment soon.

Have you seen the other Malick films in the collection?

I really wanted to like A HIDDEN LIFE but it went on for so long without maintaining a meditative consistency. It felt like he was re-inventing all of the same scenes in different years without finding any new insight. I did learn a lot however, about non-industrial farming practices.

Great review Steve. Love this movie but haven't seen it for years. It's a gorgeous film to look at and that haunting soundtrack stays with you long after the movie ends. Hope this eventually gets a U.K release.

I thought they'd choose The Thin Red Line first but this film is 45 years old now so that would explain it
