The consistency of every Etrian Odyssey battle BGM in each iteration of every first stratum battle is just mind blowing. You can immediately recall your first adventure in other series before. It gave you sense of familiarity despite the difference that tell you your journey in the new Yggdrasil is gonna be just like usual, AWESOME.
This was my first Etrian game back in college. A classmate recommended I try out the demo, so I did. Four games (EO4, EO1U, EO2U, 5) and a couple of Persona Qs later I'm taking a trip down EO3. This series is such a fun ride, accompanied by your blessed music. Though a couple of songs has come here and there (The Person is then Called Away from War, any 6th stratum theme), I won't ever forget the first that I came across: a bombastic rock piece that almost feels out of place for early encounters yet at the same time gets you hyped up for a new journey.
I knew the arrangement of psycho soldier sounded familiar in smash bros ultimate and lo and behold one of the greatest composers of all time was listed in the credits for it! Thank you so much Koshiro-san, it's my favorite song in smash now

I loved how a lot of the battles went on long enough that the entire song played. Never got tired of hearing that badass bass guitar. I bet an FM version would sound amazing too!
It's fascinating to see the scores behind the music in video games. Especially for me, as I create piano transcriptions of video game songs, including two of yours from Etrian Odyssey III. I'd love to see more of them and maybe use them to check my work. As always, you're a fantastic composer.

Funny story: Earlier this year, I was looking for the score so my band could play it at our concert, but couldn't find any fanmade versions online. Since I have some basic music knowledge, I took the time to transcribe everything myself, but still wasn't sure if I heard all the instruments properly. Only a few months later, I'm surprised to see you uploading this 7 years after EO4's original release! So the Etrian Odyssey IV soundtrack was recorded with live instruments? That must have been quite a leap from using the FM Synth sound in the previous three games! This is still my favourite of the Etrian Odyssey battle themes, but I am biased towards it since it was the first one I heard, heheh.
