To give you a crash course into XG:
They are not fully K-pop or Jpop
They are Japanese group founded by a ex Kpop Idol (Simon / Jakops) under the Japanese label AVEX
They are a Japanese group trained under the Kpop system which is modeled after Motown
They aren’t considered either Kpop or Jpop because they don’t sing in Korean or have full Korean members (except for Hinata she is half Korean) so they don’t get considered Kpop by the Korean market, but they aren’t Jpop because they don’t fully promote in Japan to the Japanese market
Instead they are known as a Global Group or X Pop as XG has labeled themselves
Their music is meant to be accessible by everyone but still have a touch of everything, they take a lot of inspiration from TLC and early western artists
Their breakthrough hit was Shooting Star and Left Right, if you must listen to something next Shooting Star and then Mascara, also listen to Vox 1 that’s the vocal line’s first intro since you heard Galz Xypher 2 , they are their most acclaimed songs followed by Woke Up
