It sounds fun, but I hate playing weird characters like this. Makes my skin crawl. I couldn't wait to get out of that gross brown shirt. #sketch #comedy #sketchcomedy
Funny how similar that is to how I obtained telepathy after getting a computer science degree. Still haven't done more than read my own mind, but I totally could if I wanted to.
I want to talk about the cinematography and lighting. How that panning shot across the room is meant to foreshadow the main character’s future career in a wide open desert on a military operation that will lead to her death but also her discovery of her true purpose. But no one cares so I say “yeah I liked it”.
As someone with a film degree this is frighteningly accurate. The specificity of Kill Bill Vol. 1 and then casually dropping Birth of A Nation into the conversation. Haunting.
I used to be that friend but like instead of a film student i was a student of Doug Walker and his squadron of reviewers. I became quite the lord of destruction of cinema, but like my favorite movie was Click because i wanted to be Adam Sandler in that moment and have the remote but like i would use it in a smart way and get the most out of it.
My guilty pleasure and equally red flag is to ask for the most obscure, random, 2000-ish indie films I know in HMVs or Cex DVD shops, knowing they won't have them in stock.
I remember having to hang out with a friends partner. We were complete opposites with nothing in common. I struggled to find something we could talk about. Finally we got on to films. HE LOVED FILMS SEEN LOADS. So now im excited & start running through favourite directors, actors, genres etc ... he then reveals that he has seen loads of films as he watches the start, forwards to the middle and then forwards to the end ...as its all basically the same and he wants to get through it & on to the next one. 😮
Watching film students recently go into rages so pretentious and "I AM BETTER THAN YOU!!!" in their nature that their brains melt through their nose about the Barbie movie making more money than Oppenheimer has been a true delight.
Screwed up how Barbie has a more divisive and arguably deep social message than Oppenheimer huh I mean yeah Oppenheimer is a biopic but nonetheless a barbie film having more substance is still hilarious
@aristedes9449 substance lmao. You mean political messaging. On the nose political messaging. Sorry, I just really hate barbie. The live action movie.
i cant quite put it into words, but i love how intentional the choices for lighting, camera angles, etc were. the incredibly specific visual design is perfect for a skit/short film about a... very passionate film student. as a film student myself everything about these 2 minutes delights me. the writing is excellent and the tone is... well, i'm already running out of adjectives. its sublime. i cant imagine how it felt, having to force yourself to play that freakishly unnatural character in the brown shirt, but it shows incredible dedication to the craft. hope you found the agony worthwhile in the end. particularly amused by the near-constant uplighting in varying degrees of strength
as a film student its funny dealing with these kind of people because they dont want to have A opinion on the movie, they want to have THE opinion on the movie. also if they call it a film, run
As someone who hopes to study film when I go to college in a few days, this is probably what I will become. Thanks for the warning even if I still do it.
awesome skit, right on the RUclips home page! reminds me of a while ago, I hope you bring nostalgia and more content to the table; and I hope the algorithm gives you grace. +1 sub ❤
I don't know why nor how, but I've already watched this over ten times spread over a few days. With my attention span, it's above me how I concentrate on one video for this long xD
Surprised this vid has 20k views. This is def gonna blow up 🤣 I watch movies on my iPhone at 2x speed, close captions turned on and audio description turned on, so I can look away while still following the movie.

The film guy being a Wes Anderson character makes it so much funnier
Wes Anderson fans would see this guy and say something like: "he's so deep and quarky. wes dose it again!" But in a much more archaic language
He was "center framed" 😂
@@fantasticbirdbluebro don’t do me like that :( I just like it cause it has charm.
Compared to European cinema, Wes Anderson is a child who hasn't been abused
Cool how you obtain teleportation ability after getting a film degree
Ikr all I got was thousands of pounds in debt
Funny how similar that is to how I obtained telepathy after getting a computer science degree.
Still haven't done more than read my own mind, but I totally could if I wanted to.
Actually I think you'll find that this is simply an excellent usage of montage
That's what it means when they say a review is "all over the place"
Film students can teleport, Buddhists have psychic powers, and black people can shoot electricity, everyone knows this.
That little run/walk up to the camera proceeded with "Do you even like films" was perfect
Followed with.
I have no idea how he did it it's so well done!
It was something I expected of a meat canyon animation. I can't imagine what Hunter could do to make a video THIS weird into something even weirder.

My man filmed his video in 50fps just to tick off all the film students 😅
I like how this sounds like a supervillain monologue and an average film critic at the same time
You are suggesting that film critics are not supervillains, which is demonstrably false (and this is from someone who took a film course).
@@luxill0s They're villains alright. Just not super ones
as a film student i know that film students are a threat to humanity when they watch a bad movie
Like how the normal guy stays in one shot and the film student needs multiple camera angles
He’s definitely heard of consistent visual language
As someone with a film degree this is frighteningly accurate. The specificity of Kill Bill Vol. 1 and then casually dropping Birth of A Nation into the conversation. Haunting.
ur name is literally d.w. lmao
Never watched birth of a nation, I know the subject matter is… outdated, but is it technically impressive for it’s time or something?
@@obscure.reference that stands for Dorothy Winifred you uncultured swine
@@Dan-yy6tt Yeah, though I forgot why it was so important, at least cinema wise. I know it was the first movie played in the White House.

I do that but for obscure manga in manga stores

This is a green flag... but I'm biased
Lmao the heavy breathing after ‘NOT godfather part 3’ is dead on
This is the type of film student to watch just the tarantino movies and scorsese gangster films and base their whole personality around it 🤣
Ah, the old “Eunuch at an Orgy” energy.
I have been so genuinely scared Of a character in RUclips skit
Not a film student but that ending is the correct reaction to that last take
They always gotta bring up “pUlP fIcTiOn”
This is what Wes Anderson sees when he drops acid
Huh. Thought it would be more yellow…
straight up uncanny and i loved every second of it
The visual labguage in this skit was great
The most powerful cinematic tool of them all: the jumpscare
Bro, that run to the camera was the best part of the entire video.

"I'm a TV guy"
Yeah that's the kind of guy who watches hour long netflix episodes in a series that end up being longer than 1 movie!
Ironically this video is pretty good cinematically speaking
All the shots, acting, cuts, etc. Good job man👍
Not to mention consistent visual language, 😁!
"and what was that camera man playing at" had me dead 💀
They are like vampires you have to invite them first

great video man! love to see original, funny skits in this day and age. the monologue at 0:26 was the best
I prefer the terminator run part
You look and act like a child between Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Bryan David Gilbert, and I find it hilarious. Acting and delivery is great! Keep it up!
Description make me chuckle 🤭
I love the multiple characters
My god the run at 1:39 scared me so much Idk why
Right?? Best (and creepiest) part imo haha
Legit terrifying
His mistake was taking the film student out of the abyss. We put those people there for a reason.
I often watch films with film students, but it's in theaters, and we don't know each other, so they legally have to shut up.
as I film student, I can say with certainty this is how I talk when watching a film with anyone
* watches one wes anderson film

To be fair, putting a movie on at 1.5x speed should result in jail time.

You ever see a video that looks like a comedic masterpiece and then look at the sub count and think "did they forget the k after 500"? yeah
Based on many true stories. Even the teleportation and reality warping.
Any young person in college is basically like this. They think just because they "study" something that their opinion is worth more.
