There's the thing about Indonesian. Somehow we are so unaccustomed to see foreigners or at least someone that does not look native enough. Heck, doesn't need to be an actual foreigners, people in Java would just stare at Papuans despite them being Indonesian too. Kinda worrying.
Most of asians do that not only Indonesia
Depends on where you live tho, if you live where foreign tourism are big like bali you'll see many foreigner from any race almost everyday.
Yeah, its weird isnt it. I live in Jakarta most of my life and I remember in the past so many people would think that I am a foreigner because I have brown hair, not dark brown, but just simply, brown (my grandpa was mixed, Indonesian and German and got light brown hair, I got his gene I guess). Like even if you 100% look like Indonesian, people would still pick up features that you dont usually see from native Indonesian on you and think that you are a foreigner.
Thankfully these days, not many people do that tho, at least in bigger cities.
@@tokki2901 Kok bisa gitu ya? Kan di Jakarta rata2 etnis Betawi, kalo etnis Betawi kan ngga terlalu langka yg keturunan luar Indo, sama juga kek org Aceh misalnya. Jadi kukira ngga sampe gitu kali.
@@ycantiusegeorgiantextforhandle hmmm, ga tau juga ya. Kalau menurutku sih, karena pada dasarnya di Jakarta sebagai ibukota, harusnya ngeliat bule atau orang asing itu kan common ya. Tapi dulu gak begitu, bule sama mix indo + bule tuh masih kayak sirkus, dikit dikit diliatin terus ga tau kenapa. Apalagi yg mix betawi + belanda, mereka juga pada diliatin terutama yg rambutnya bukan hitam.
Kayaknya memang sifatnya orang indo, apalagi jaman dulu pas handphone sama internet belum pasaran.
I actually pretty accustomed with Bule who speaks Indonesian fluently since there has been many Bule youtuber who not only speak Indonesian but also local languages such as Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, etc.

I've known of Hana for awhile, but I've forgotten why she decided to she learn Indonesian. Might be a strange question, but when I saw her, strangely enough, Indonesian wasn't really my first thought for know languages when I saw her.

Her Dad move to Indonesia for his Job when she was a kid and the rest is history. Although her dad move back to America, Hana stayed in Indonesia for college. #CMIIW

@@aronbenafill9780 I'm not sure where you got that info from, but that is false. She first was in Japan with her family until her mother passed away when she was a kid. After that, she moved, lived, and studied in the U.S.up until she finished highschool, and then decided to move and study college in Indonesia.
IIRC, she has never said how she got fluent in Indonesian yet, but has said that the motivation to learn Indonesian as fast as possible was that in her early times in Indonesia, some bad people in college took advantage of the fact that she is a foreigner and trash-talked her in front of her in Indonesian. Luckily enough, she has good friends to call out those bullies and tell her what they said. Hence, she studied Indonesian hard so that she wouldn't be able to be trash-talked anymore, which was effective.
Hana kayanya pernah bilang kalau dia ke Indonesia karena pekerjaan ayahnya dan kuliah di sini...
