@The REAPER Blog Jon, great video. Wish I could have been live as I've dived into CSI with my Mackie Control Universal. Could have helped out, but you got there in the end. You are a quick learner. I'd like to suggest using a way I've setup where the faders on the control surface follow with Reaper and change colours so you know what 8 channels your on. If you're interested let me know.
I don’t know why I didn’t find this a couple of months ago, but like Jon I was living without a control surface since my BCF 2000 finally died. Not that it was worth waiting all those years, but the maturity of CSI makes having an X-Touch well worth it. After just an hour with it I was all set up and already wondering how I tried to do anything with a mouse and keyboard.
Is your subsequent X Touch series going to continue? The first 3 episodes were great and very much helped me discover what works best for me. Thank you for all of your intensive research!
I keep planning to and something comes up. I also struggle with finding a good home for the x-touch at the desk so I use it more but its not in the way for the rest of my day.
@@TheREAPERBlog I hear that. And I completely understand regarding the size! Mine is placed, well, somewhat precariously in my central workstation. It's a wonderful machine, but it's huge. Thanks for the response, and hopefully life will be forgiving enough to do the next videos in 2024. Cheers
Interesting.... I'll have to check out CSI to see what extra goodies it can do. I just set up my X-Touch with the default "Mackie Control" control surface, and pretty much everything works out of the box (no CSI install needed), but you don't have any ability to remap things.
Great exploration!! I have bought this device a few weeks ago and use it with 'drivenbymoss' software. It installs like a breeze and works quite flawlessly. But I see now that CSI is much more customizable.
Drivenbymoss works much better on the fx parameter section. For now, I'm back to Moss. Curious to see more developments with CSI, but now I need to get some projects done :)
@@MrEarlabs CSI v2.0 is still in beta stages and from what I understand coloured display of the scribble stripes is limited to 8 colours if I'm correct(X-touch future firmware may allow for more, we'll see) . As for the buttons themselves, they just light up or not, don't think one can change the colour.
@@jakeman1968 the colors are a nice feature but the ability to change parameters with the controller is a more essential feature. I'll check csi later to dive deeper.
Haven't watched this yet (will do when I get home) but wondering if the stuff you go into is transferable to the X-Touch One? As in will the same CSI stuff be applicable/useful? Thanks!
Wow, am I the first to comment? Jon, this was a great stream on the X-Touch. I loved that you fearlessly plowed through this unit right out of the box! At ruclips.net/video/0sBMEFYKk8k/видео.html we start rocking. Thanks for the trail-blaze!
probably hundreds have asked. Basically you can't take away the basic OS level framework that the UI is built upon without A- breaking everything and B- making the app far less efficient. I'm sure they have seriously considered it several times over the years. Right now it works, and is efficient. Maybe some day.

13 hours behind, But I've been wondering about this for a while now. Thanks for the video! Very useful and informative.

The MFM Reaper channel has some great content covering CSI - MCU customisation. Takes a lot of work but my X-Touch with Reaper works great as a result

Only question I have is: how do I set the colored scribble pads? Mine stick to blue....

Do you know how to change white colour in fx , preference windows for darker ?
Mac dark mode
Thank you. Cockos exist since 2005, and no one has made request for this feature without changing theme of OS ?
