Split a Cell Diagonally

In this video I'll show two ways to diagonally split a cell. This is a formatting trick to help put one word in the top corner and another word or set of words in the lower corner. You can even fill in one part of the diagonal with a different color. Most often this design trick is used to have two headers in one cell. I'll show more that one method to split the cell in half. One way is a put a diagonal split line (or slash) through a cell and the other is to insert a shape object.

HOW DO YOU SPLIT A SINGLE CELL horizontally ? (i don't want TWO COLUMNS) - I just want a black bar to appear in the middle of the cell.
(that I can influence later on to increase the size of the cell on the left and decrease the size of the cell on the right ,or something like that)

i don't think this can be done in Excel. You'd have to use two cells make the borders more prominent and merge your adjacent cells to hack this. Or use the drawing tools to draw a line.

Good advice, but I have just one cell; the adjacent ones from the left and right are taken.
I want to input text on the left and a subchapter on the right.
Guess i'll use the drawing tools.

This can be done. Check out Gibbs3141 comment at the site below. Basically you will use fill effects and then modify the fill effects code in VBA to remove the blending of colors.

The problem with the second method is when you want to fill the other side of the cell with a triangle. You have to rotate it 180 degrees to make it the right orientation, so the text is upside down.

How do you do this with the line going the other way?

with the shape you can have it flipped the other way. select it, go to Format and select the Rotate command to flip it horizonally.

The Diagonal its messed up...it should go From TOP LEFT to bottom right, thats how its supposed to be...pure logic of where is the Column and where are the Rows. How you draw it has no sense. But Thanks because it helped many people (not me because i thought it was an easier and built in way)
