At the start of operation Barbarossa, the german forces were so short on motorized equipment, they needed 750,000 horses and even then much of the infantry had to march on foot across Russia. Rail was not an option since the Soviet rail infrastructure was incompatible and heavily damaged, it took years to fix them. In tanks the situation was just as dire...........most tanks were Pz2, some Pz3 or the Czech 38t. By comparison the Soviets had 4000 heavy tanks, thousands of medium tanks and tens of thousands of light tanks and anti-tank guns that were vastly superior to the anemic Pak-36.

Great wookiee & half track video.
The barrel change on 34 can be made when it's mountet the 42 can't.. the another reason why the 34 is used in vehicle
Correct, this is the main reason they were used in Tanks..the Barrel can be removed when it’s mounted as a coax.
The armor was not better per se' but it was certainly much more effectively covering the vehicle.
