I’m a dyed in the wool Shimano guy…that’s just what I AM. But I always secretly root for Abu on the side. When I was a little kid in the 90s, my first baitcaster was an ambassador (which I promptly lost the spool tension knob for) and that reel taught my right hand/thumb everything it needed to know. Beyond that, I bought a black max about ten years ago just to see what they’d been up to and the thing was *phenomenal* for the price. The fact that you can buy a reel with that level of feel and user-friendliness at Walmart for godsake. It makes me happy to know that kids starting out are easily able to get their hands on a decent reel. I actually passed my black max on to a young kid who frequents the boat launch at my home lake. Hopefully he used it to expand his fishing horizons…and if not, hey, no biggie…
Ive always said that some Swedish billionaire should buy back Abu Garcia and make the reels in Sweden again. Maybe we will see some new innovations then instead of the same technology just transfered to different frames every few years
I think the new Roxani BFS is excellent for light inshore fishing. I use it on the coast in Denmark for sea-run brown trout, typically using 7-13 grams lures. With that lure weight the reel is excellent, long casts and no overruns. Love the clicking drag on the new model. Somehow the JDM ABU models I have tried generallly tolerate saltwater very well compared to e.g Shimano reels which otherwise is my preferred reel brand.
They should include lighter knobs just so they can advertise it as weighing less but still include the standard knobs. That's what I would do if I was trying to market the reel to the BFS audience
When it came to upgrade from my Zephyr I looked into the Roxani but couldn't find one for decent price and couldn't afford an ALC or LTX. I found a great deal on a REVO UltraCast BF8 and bought one. I'm curious how the new Roxani will perform against other BFS reels in its price range.
@@THEREELTEST Are you saying the Roxani also has a heavy spool like the UltraCast? With my UC I do have a hard time at 1/16 oz. At 2-2.2g it got a lot better and that’s with Verivas Super PE 4 (0.6 Goh) and 4# mono leader.

In which country are these reels made?
Finally!
You know of any sites that I can go ahead and Pre-Order this reel?
they should start popping up on the JDM sites very soon since the release month is March, but for preordering I always email japanlureshop
I wonder how much the old model is I likely illuminate frame. It was a good looking real
