The limonite I brought home was just truly amazing. It had pickers as well as fine gold through out. So far I have only crushed one piece it weighed about five pounds. I haven't finished up with it yet to get an idea of just how much it held.

Hi Ralph, I really enjoy enjoy your videos. As I was digging on my property I found large rocks with Gallena coating them and like most of the rock is Gallena. Now i crushed them down and panned them out but now I have nothing but silver and black looking heavy material. Do I fire this? Or do I chemically work this material to find out what I have in other minerals. I enjoy your videos by the way. And are educational for a new guy like me. So what would be the next beat step? I also bought a Shor International system to use to find the elements such as gold, platnium, palladium and rhodium. What process is the easiest fastest way to extract this silver material?

Friend - this is not a simple question. Feasible means making a profit, but profit depends on where you are located. If you are in the western USA, you have electric power and equipment repair services close by. If you are in a developing nation, all your services may be more than 100 Km away. Profit depends on production rate - If you mine 100 kilograms of ore per day or 1000, or 100,000 kg per day - makes a difference. You can get by with lower grades if you mine more ore - assuming your deposit is large enough, but large production can require investment of millions of dollars to buy the needed equipment to handle it.

Chain mill will take up to about 2.5 inches, but with hard rock it takes a lot of beating to grind that big stuff down. Way better to crush to minus 1/2 inch and then put that into the chain mill. My next rock crushing video (coming soon) I go into the required maintenance for these chain mills - which can be considerable if you want to crush a lot of rock.

Depends on the design of the individual units, so no general statements apply to all. Chains are easy to buy, all require more than a little maintenance.

I am confused as I have never done a video on Sulfur staining. Also it makes a total difference the type of operation you are processing - hard rock ores or placer gravels? Hard rock is more expensive, but it also makes a huge difference as far as the production capacity - if you are processing 2 pounds an hour, or, 20 pounds, 200 pounds, 2,000 pounds, 20,000 an hour or what. Its sort of like saying that I intend to buy a car how expensive will it be?

The three that I’ve found are massive. But zero evidence of critters, fleas or flys. There are very large layers of sulfur coming off of these quartz (multiple). I imagine that animals and such can sense it, so they stay out. You might find this interesting but. I haven’t asked many questions to local’s because I don’t want to raise any flags. Gold as tiny as what I am showing in this video cannot be found with any metal detector. You can find coarse gold with a detector, but you cannot find tiny dust sized gold. So to find hard rock gold with a detector, it needs to be some unusually coarse sized hard rock gold or you will never see it. Chris, I have a question...a long time ago I ran into some techs that were trying to pin down an ore body of gold. They were laying long wires across the suspected area...maybe 1/2 mile long. They said they could select different pairs of the wires to transmit a signal, and by that tell the limits of the ore body, but not perfectly. I'd like to find a version of that machine. Do you have any idea what unit they'd have been using? This was about 30 years ago. really appreciate any help you can offer. Jim
Its a conductivity/resistance measurement - more or less similar in concept to metal detection. They are not looking for metal because even rich gold ores have only a little gold, they are looking for minerals that conduct electricity - they are much more common.
Its not a simple Beep on the ore system - like a hobbyist metal detector. These systems require lots of interpretation of computer output by geophysical experts who review the results and decipher them, the cost will likely be north of $100,000 to set yourself up to do this. Even mining companies hire it done by specialists and experts. Its not something done by an amateur. Google "geophysical exploration methods" and read up if you want to learn more.

A surveyor measures the corners and boundaries of real estate, so I think you mean something else and I dont know what you mean. An assayer crushes a very small sample and melts it with a lead chemical which collects the gold and silver.
@@ChrisRalph I do not bypass the ball mill and 50 mesh is our sweet spot but I do not have a method or machine of screening quickly, maybe you have heard of one? Great video Chris
@@ChrisRalph I run jaw crusher impact mill 4 cement mixers at a time with steel balls off a generator, people laugh but hey it gets the job done, neighbors love the soothing sounds from 20 acres away. I've seen folks use a 12v vibrator with a bucket classifier. Will make or buy a real ball mill down the road get it hooked to solar power. Keep expenses down I figure.

Better chances to buy a lottery ticket and win 10 million dollars. You need a car to get around the goldfields, and its a skill - like plumbing or being an electrician. If you dont know what you are doing and have no money, you wont find anything.

Meteorites just knind of land in random places, not necessarily in gold areas.

Kinda wish you would have used a detector to find your sample, pro's and con's of using a detector when prospecting hardrock?

or you can use the rock hammer and chisel and a 30x loupe and see if the quartz has anything that's why the high power loupe
Most quartz has no gold in it, and to see inside the quartz, you need to smash it to a powder.

how do you do it the way a surveyor does? i think he melts the rock?
A surveyor measures the corners and boundaries of real estate, so I think you mean something else and I dont know what you mean. An assayer crushes a very small sample and melts it with a lead chemical which collects the gold and silver.

Big companies use ball mills that have screening built in.
@@ChrisRalph I run jaw crusher impact mill 4 cement mixers at a time with steel balls off a generator, people laugh but hey it gets the job done, neighbors love the soothing sounds from 20 acres away. I've seen folks use a 12v vibrator with a bucket classifier. Will make or buy a real ball mill down the road get it hooked to solar power. Keep expenses down I figure.

What are the chances of a broke Man and homeless coming out west and find enough gold to get by and make a living
Better chances to buy a lottery ticket and win 10 million dollars. You need a car to get around the goldfields, and its a skill - like plumbing or being an electrician. If you dont know what you are doing and have no money, you wont find anything.

Its a skill you can learn and be proud of your work and then go out and find yourself some gold. Just dont weigh out all the gold you expect to find before you've actually found any!
