- Please watch in the highest quality possible!
David Hayward is a model car maker, who over the past year has built a 1937 Austin 7 from rolling chassis through to fully functioning road legal car. Made entirely from wood and canvas, this pre-war classic is surprisingly fast! The details and craftsmanship involved are incredible to see.
Hope you enjoy the film! Was a lot of fun to shoot, and I just want to extend my Thank You's to David and Vicky for braving the cold with me for the two days worth of filming!

Thank you all for the positive comments! This project was a really fun one to make, and it taught me a lot about the process of making a video like this. Made a few mistakes, learned from them, and hopefully I can make better videos because of it! :D
Mumbo Vlogs I love how good your short films look, so professional, keep up the good work👍👍
The video is perfect!
And I love that car!
That video is awesome! I want to see more of these!! I also watched in 4K btw. Keep it up.

Been waiting for this to come out, really impressive. The grading and lighting play so well together, honestly a great cinematic piece. Bravo
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it. Was a bit of a headache to get done, but happy with the end result :)
Woah... Mumbo replies to comments...
Was the grading done in camera?
Amazing, very very professional 😍
Always showing your videos to my media class at school, we always take inspiration on how to show everyday things! Thanks!
Meh SoEvil lol awesome

I've been recently watching all of the videos from your Vlog channel and it amazes me how dramatically your film-making skills have improved, and this one in particular was outstanding. Keep up the great work, really looking forward to the next one.
Strictoaster? I did not expect to see you here
I'm everywhere!

GUYS HE WONT LEAVE OVER A COMMENT IN A RANDOM VIDEO
Your filming content is unbelievable, you are a really arty awesome youtuber who devotes time and effort into making awesome content :D
Why aren't you working at a studio yet?? You have the passion, the love and patience to make a awesome video!
ItsJav yeah he deserves it! He should have his own studio😃
I love this Mumbo! I haven't interacted with much of your stuff in a while as I have kind of moved on from my minecraft days, but this caught my eye and grabbed my attention.
It was beautiful seeing your passion for videography mirroring David's for cars; it worked really well. Really interesting look at a unique guy's love of his hobby, and inspirational.
The one part I think could have added an interesting dimension would have been exploring why David got into making cars and hearing why he is passionate about it.
Top work though man, I think this is one of the highest quality things I have seen on youtube in a long while, and I have quite an eclectic hodge-podge of subscriptions!
Watch the rest of his vlogs immediatly, they're amazing
It is so emotional and inrteresting. That is really good job man, you made great job on this one
Loved the mini documentary. Combining your love for filmmaking and cars was definitely a good choice. Would love to see more stuff like this
My granddad's got a 1938 Austin 7.
Awesome!
honestly, the dashboard looks like a fighter plane from world war 2. I love it.
Crippling Depression It really does
So, let us know when you get commissioned for a big budget film, okee?
Haha, will do! :)
Really nice job mumbo! I wish to be a skilled filmaker like you one day!
What a beautiful image Mumbo...
Wow. Thanks to David for sharing!
Wow! Amazing work! Can’t wait to see the next one :)
There is no way you made this. I honestly though I was watching a Discovery program until I looked at the channel name. Fine work Oli!
There is just something so comforting about this video: David; the setting; the grading; even the weather haha. Inspirational!
BEAUTIFUL Car! Beautiful Video. Great job Mumbo! My Parents lived in Woking for 3 Years!! David does incredible Work!
Absolutely fantastic. As someone slowly building a vintage open wheel sprint car, I know a little of the painstaking hours spent. Thanks and a great well done.
Your filming is so good love you.
Finally got a chance to watch this. Amazing. The mood, the lighting, the calmness about it. Everything was very well executed. And David was excellent at talking, telling us about his passion. Loved it. Thank you.
Consider quitting minecraft and move to hollywood, we need a spoon-shaped oscar
Ikr but I don't agree with whole quitting Minecraft thing
@@ravendangernavy3575 your
right!
:(
Firstly, the photography is just... Gorgeous. Everything looks good to me. The colour, the atmosphere, the things you chose to focus on...
Then, the emotion. It's doubly transpiring. Even though Mr Hayward is really calm and well spoken, you can sense his passion for everything he's explaining, and the happy nostalgia for all his past projects. But we can also sense your passion for the subject as well. I don't really know why, I couldn't point to something specific... It's just obvious, with the work and que quality imputed here that you loved doing every second of it, be it the form or the substance.
I've discovered your filming channel just a few episodes in your Minecraft videos as you often mention it, and I really don't regret it. You make wonderful short film. The quality is always astonishing to me, even more considering you're a somewhat advanced amateur or semi-pro with only his own equipment. You seems to get better everytime, and that's saying something considering the quality of everything so far.
Please keep on doing your wonderful work ! It's a big pleasure everytime
Thank you so much for your kind words. It really means a lot, comments like these really help to motivate me. Again, thank you :)
Wow Oli! Awesome, really! How do you manage to make me smile even when I'm in the hospital with a broken wrist? This is an amazing film!
I want to be a photographer, but no one in my family supports me about it. I don't even have a good camera, just my broken iPhone camera (it refuses to focus.) seeing your films is just inspiring me more to do it. I have to find a job in order to buy a camera, and of course have to get photoshop to edit my photos, but seeing this film just made me so excited! I have some old photos I'm really proud of before my iPhone camera broke, and looking at them is keeping me going. Watching your films is keeping me going. Thank you Mumbo!
Wow.... you should make more documentary-style films. Maybe that could be your job after the youtube thing (which hopefully won't be anytime soon). I love watching these. They are just... amazing...
getting better ... keeps getting better , but I gotta say this is amazing
You did a very fine job Mumbo. Background music and his voice gave me a documentary type of feeling. It's neat how you were able to find such an interessting person, you can really feel his pasion for it :) keep up this great work. Allready waiting for the next vid 👍
Thank you! :D
Three years later and I’m watching this video again and again! Mumbo I just love this so much you do such great work!
This is an insanely well produced video. Like above TV quality. I’ve seen BBC documentaries with worse quality. Props man you’ve done a great job. I honestly have little interest in cars but this was a pleasure to watch
Absolutely love this! So nice to see someone take what very well may have been someone else's forgotten project and give it the love that it deserves. Cheers from America! Keep up the great work!
You have such masterful camera work in this video that i absolutely adore, what an amazing topic for an amazing video :D
As others have said, this is truly a spectacular short film. I want to specifically highlight how perfect the audio is. It’s impeccable.
I am only here for the visuals, cinematography, colour grading, direction, and editing!! Loving it! 😍
Hahaha! Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Mumbo Vlogs you could have done a better job in the pacing of the video, it kinda got boring after the 69%, just some constructive criticism! 🤗
If something you can learn from the man’s story is that your hobby, as simple as you may see it, can be a piece of art for accidental spectator.
Really enjoyed it.
👽👍
Amazing Amazing Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
Mumbo Vlogs Thanks Mumbo! You Are Awesome
Please make more, i'm always looking foward to the next video.
Keep up the good work
Wow. This was really an awesome video man! I waited so long for it, and it did NOT dissapoint. It was inspiring, well-shot, and you could see that there was put a lot of work into. Thank you for sharing this wonder with us!
Thank you so much :)
1:50 THIS SHOT LOOKS LIKE A VERY GOOD ANIMATION for a video game trailer
Nice video man I hope you will improve more and more every video
I love that car, it makes me think of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! I also love the Haynes Motor Museum, my grandparents live down there!
This is the definition of amazing, you poured your heart and soul into it. I hope that your vlogging channel takes off and you get millions of views. This is VERY professional. I love your content and, i will watch it when every you make a new video. Thank You
I stopped watching around about when you'd just made your first sort of documentary thing because I moved house and didn't have any net for a month and then just sort of forgot to come back, but now that I have, I gotta say mumbo... wow, this is a this is absolutely stunning, you've done so well, and I'm a little awe struck at how beautiful this is, all I can say is well done. simply lovely
Wow, this is amazing!
That car looks stunning! I've always had a soft spot for older cars, and to see one that someone built themself is just incredible.
Thank you both so much! :D
you again >.>
Loved this.
I've always been fascinated by model cars and old classics and this made me even more interested! Thanks again.
Outstanding. Seriously. You're a truly talented person.
"Absolutely lovely." Please make more of these movies. I totally agree a furniture maker should craft the interior. Just amazing Mumbo. Pretty please do more work like this.
I'm blown away! It would be amazing if you decided to make a long film one day. I'd like to see it in the cinemas! You have a bright future! :D
As a car guy this is amazing, such a humble and just amazing person, thank you mumbo for this film.
Awesome!
I have an addiction to the old sports cars from the 1920/30s so this was pretty cool
Honesty had me in tears
Wow! Beautiful! I once saw an old Austin 7 driving around, i would never forget that!
That was a cool car man
I agree
Honestly your film channel deserves far more recognition these videos are amazingly quirky and unique and the ambient noises and photography shots are something else, never stop making these inspiring awesome vids because they clearly mean so much to you and to all of us. Great expression of creativity :)
I liked😊😊
The like to dislike ratio is insane
TheOp Oreo of course
Can never miss an upload from u and your two channels mumbo, this one is so good with its shots and quality that can stand up to some major TV shows, and the other one which is slightly more simple yet effective, it has a certain charm and always makes you happy when u hear the genuine joy after a big project is finished! However both have one thing in common, they relax the viewer and I'm sure that everyone can agree with this. I would just like to thank you for all the effort you put into your videos for your fans enjoyment! And I am certainly looking forward to watching this amazing work of art. :D
Thank you, that means a lot :)
Now this is what I call professional
Cheers :)
O my gosh you replied hi Mumbo
That is pretty. You definitely love making these serene documentaries and I cannot wait to see more.
I forgot who I was watching I then thought it was a bbc documentary
Lol
Hahaha, thank you :)
Wow, Brilliant! So glad I found this inspirational movie - such talent and skill/attention to detail. I am beginning my pre-war Model A Banger hot rod and this is a great vid to kick things off! Keep Building!!
I've been waiting for this so long!
And it was worth it!
But who cars?
xD
OH MY F'ING GOD WHY!
Why though? Really just waited for a vid fun to watch and expected a bit more than that from mumbos fans...

Absolutely stunning!! I legitimately felt as if I were watching a real professionally done documentary on Netflix!! 😂😁👍👌
That must of took a lot of redstone
This was just so beautiful, for a moment i forgot mumbo made this and i thought that it was a documentary channel, this was just so amazing it made me feel happy, keep it up mumbo.
So fucking talented
Cheers :)
Anytime❤️
Your passion for film-making is really paying off, Mumbo. I look forward to future videos and I can't wait to see how you can improve on a masterpiece like this.
Who the hell disliked
Nathan Dion Lariviere someone misclicked. They intended to like the video
Obviously
Can tell that he loves what he does and to find someone like that and compose a beautiful video, is just something else. Keep up the hard work, it is paying off.
First
Blakikin nope
Just love the Austin, the spinner on the bonnet, is pure genious with an infusion of humour! Brilliant!
Haha! I agree :)
Man, this was beautiful! The editing was so professional and the audio/video was so crisp! I forgot I was only watching a RUclips video for a second!
Great job as always, Ollie! As someone learning film making also, I truly enjoy watching someone grow in the craft as much as you have. Again, stunning work and can't wait for the next one! Keep the inspiration coming!
This was a fantastic little video. The color grading was gorgeous and the pace and sounds were all perfect and consistent. Excellent job, Oli! You've improved a lot!
I’ve always tuned out your second Chanel plugs until I saw a clip of your cat which caught my eye. I assumed it was just comidic shorts of things you find in your daily life, wow was I wrong. You are an amazing filmmaker! This was so professional. It’s absolutely amazing.
Mumbo, you probably won’t see this but i just want to say You’re an amazing RUclipsr. Your films are professional and your Minecraft builds are just as good. If you see this, please reply, it would mean the world to me. Keep up the great work!
This is absolutely amazing!! I'm kinda like the son. After school I always have something to look forward to and that's watching your amazing videos! Peace
Aww thank you :)
Wow, what a fascinating man, and what a high quality mini-documentary! I can't wait to see what else you make Mumbo. I remember in a past episode you talked about future documentaries you're planning...something in the Philippines? Keep up the great work (both you and the car maker)!
That’s an awesome vehicle. And a great story. Loved it.
Wow, this took weeks to come out but now I see why! Great job Mumbo!
I'd like to start with, I've never left a youtube comment before. However, I can't hold back this time. I've been watching your Hermitcraft videos since Hermitcraft season 3. Up until now, I've never looked into anything on this vlog channel even though you mention the filming channel at the end of each episode. I've seriously been missing out! This is such an amazing piece. Every shot was so vivid and capturing, and the cinematography was beautifully juxtaposed with the narration to deliver an incredibly enthralling and deeply personal experience. I truly hope to see you grow into a renowned director someday because this is highly impressive. People need to see this talent, Mumbo. Your Hermitcraft seasons have been one of my all time favorite youtube series. Thank you for years of entertainment and best wishes from Virginia! :)
Wow, thank you first off for the support on my Minecraft channel! and thank you for the kind words about this one, they are very much appreciated :)
Great Work. Enjoying the newer focus on storytelling. Beautiful as always cinematography.
You really need to become a director. I would ABSOLUTELY watch a full length mumbo film
Incredible stuff you're doing on this channel Mumbo! I'm honestly astounded at the amount you've grown with these cinematic videos of yours and I genuinly would love to see more little documentaries like this one on your channel!
Oh, man! So good! So there still people like this in the world? Good to know...
Keep up the incredible work, Mumbo!
Lovely old model Baby Austin race car is very enjoyable to ride. And then your passion for building model cars. I'm found of you great passion.
I don't understand how you can make something look so professional and so good looking. I absolutely love your vlogs, hey are truly one of a kind!! 👏
Love the film! Please do more of these.
This man deserved agood footage of his work and he got it.
I probably watch one or two docs a week and have been meaning to check this one out, glad I did. I love the way you filmed it, made it personal.
Sound, lighting, storyline... everything is perfect. Keep going !
Mate, it feels like I'm looking at a comemorative documentary or something on some history channel on TV.
Excellent professional work.
And the story is dramatic, and emphasised.
Honestly, it looks professional. This is the sort of thing I could imagine myself watching on tv. Truly amazing.
Thank you :)
