@@larrybremer4930 That's a simple but very perceptive observation. I'm glad you remarked on it, you are of course, quite right. How clever and inspired they must have been to produce such euphoric music and lyrics at such a young age.
I love seeing and hearing the interaction of David and Richard on this song. And, it reminds me of Richard's passing. He is missed. The world lost a great talent that day.
The lyrics for Time are very impactful. The older you get the more they’ll mean to you because you understand what he’s talking about and your time is shorter. Young people feel deep down that they’ll live forever and they couldn’t possibly grow old and die. Just like David says “shorter of breath and one day closer to death”. What’s even more amazing is that these lyrics were written when they were all relatively young so there is insight they had beyond their years. All their songs have lyrics that are usually just as wonderful as the music and if you don’t notice them you’re missing out on an aspect of the whole experience.
A friend of mine asked me one day, "If you were on a desert island and could only listen to the music of one artist, who would it be?" Without hesitation, Pink Floyd. I've been listening to their music for over 50 years. It never gets old.
Considering how young they were when they wrote this song, I'm stunned by the way it makes 62 year old me think about how they get my thoughts and feelings about my past so spot on.
Listened to this album in friends basement in 1974, from front to back, a hundred times. You guys need to react to this whole album, Dark Side of The Moon. One of the greatest conceptual albums ever made.
"Shine on you crazy diamond", Whish you were here album. Just put your headphones on lie back in comfy chair with the lights down low and let the music envelop you.
What a f'ing great reaction guys. I was introduced to Floyd almost 35 years ago now and will never get tired of these amazing tunes and lyrics. Thanks beautiful people. What a journey :)
Whilst you are looking at the Pulse concert you really must watch / react to 'The Great Gig in the Sky'. Very emotional and yet wonderful. You will not be disappointed. It's also quite different from what you've heard so far.
@andrewmorgan. Yep, i think that's a great one too. Also for a slight change of pace maybe "Run like hell" from Pulse concert is a bit more uplifting. ✌

Happy you are going on this journey with Pink Floyd. They are the greatest band to ever exist. Shine on you crazy diamond is one you should listen to. Is long but so, so good
I was at this Concert at Earls Court in London October 1994..The Pulse Tour..THE GREATEST CONCERT OF ALL TIME EVER...From the music, visuals, pyrotechnics, inflatables, explosions, lights, lazers, flying Plane Spitfire crashing into the stage and to the Encore of Comfortably Numb Gilmour's solo and Giant Mirror Ball to Run Like Hell and the stage blowing up..! + was tripping off Magic Mushrooms 😮😵😵💫🤯..PURE THEATRE..The song is about Time passing by towards Death and every minute is a minute closer to death..!! The whole album Dark Side of the Moon is about 'Life, Madness, Death, Happiness, Love, Sadness and all that makes up our Life's journey through a Lifetime..!! It's a concept album with a story being narrated..Which is what all Pink Floyd's albums are concepts, narrating a story..!! (IE) Animals is about George Orwell's book Animal Farm (Were the animals are the rulers of themselves and humans)..Wish You Were Here is a homage to Syd Barrett the original member of Pink Floyd who descended into madness and mental health issues..The Wall is a concept album about a Rock Star who becomes deluded by fame, Broken Down Marriage, Insecurity, Paranoia and unable to cope with being a Major Rock Star and Fame all it brings with it so builds a Wall to live inside to hide away from all the things that are happening to him and to protect himself and hide away from the emotions, fear, feelings that he is going through and also to hide behind The Wall he's built so that he won't have to face these issues and emotional pain and problems that he can't deal with, so solitude and death al! Phone Numbers are a way out hopefully to never have to 3p
I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd 11 times on this tour including their last U.S. show at Giants Stadium. They brought the amazement every single show. Sometimes it pays to be old 😁
You're absolutely right about Pink Floyd being a journey. This is one of those things that you need to experience with a glass of whisky or wine in a darkened room late in the evening when all the stresses of the day have gone.
There is "Music" and there is "Pink Floyd". They brings you somewhere out of your body! Pink Floyd made me fly for the last 55 years and I've been bless for that!
The Great gig in the sky , pulse concert will blow you away . Many will say the original is the only pure version but the pulse concert is more immersive.
Im 60 now. Have listened to PF since i was 12 and i love them still, When listen to them, it´s not just a song you get, it´s an experience. Was lucky to see them in Copenhagen in early 90s, great concert 👌👌👌
"And then one day you find / ten years have got behind you / no one told you when to run / you missed the starting gun" Brilliant lyrics and so true for some people.
"Time" was released in 1973. Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say The original bassist with Pink Floyd Roger Waters, co wrote it with David Gilmour (Lead singer) - “I wrote that when I was 29 years old,” Roger Waters once told Rolling Stone. “The bits in the song where it goes, No one told you when to run/You missed the starting gun, it’s about my experience of being 29 years old and certainly going, ‘Fuck me. It’s the middle of life. I’ve been told that I was preparing for something.’ “The reason it’s a good song is because it describes the predicament of anybody who, growing up - if we’re grown up at all - suddenly realizes that time is going really, really fast,” Waters continued. “It makes you start to philosophize about life and what is important and how to derive joy from that.” The concert in the film was circa 1994 at Earls Court, London

Pink Floyd is a blues-based band. They never hurry. And David Gilmour is a world-class blues guitarist. Their concerts are widely known as an "experience", and you clearly understand why. Their lyrics stay with you. I was fortunate enough to see this tour, and it ran almost three hours. Time VERY well spent. As for suggestions, I long ago fell in love with the PULSE Concert, and I hope you continue with these live versions. Their song "High Hopes" is another poignant piece about looking back on younger days. Or "Sorrow", with David's masterful guitar work. "Coming Back To Life" didn't do anything for me on the album, but his ethereal opening solo at PULSE just leads me into the infinite. "The Great Gig In The Sky" is an amazing performance (and won't be what you're expecting - no matter what you're expecting!) and well worth listening to. Lastly, a personal favorite ~ "One Of These Days", which has the pigs (!!!), as well as giving you the best idea, IMHO, of what it was like to be in that audience. FYI, "Time" is from Pink Floyd's legendary masterpiece, "The Dark Side Of The Moon", well worth an album review when you begin that. And during one leg of this tour, the band performed the entire album, for the first time in decades. So there are live PULSE versions of this landmark album to react to.😋
This concert was my way in to Pink Floyd - it was shown on TV late at night after a documentary about them and my family recorded it on VHS. I watched it again and again, and then moved on to Dark Side as I'd heard it live to see what the studio version was like, and onwards down the rabbit hole. They are/were a legend in their own lifetimes and it's amazing that David Gilmour is still writing and performing and touring even now in his 70s and still sounding amazing.
That was a beautiful performance of Time, quite stripped back on the vocals somehow. David and Richard sound so awesome harmonizing the choruses. Just wow!
This song came out in 1973. The same year I found myself off on my first military deployment. I served 25 years in which throughout those years I would occasionally come home to visit. It's funny, really, but I would always think of this song when visiting. Many of my old childhood friends up through high school were still kicking around on the same ground as when I initially left. I would always think to myself, 'they missed the starting gn.' Great song ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great reaction ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You're right on when you said it's journey music, it's called progressive rock, the music progresses and changes like when you progress through a journey.✌🇨🇦
Saw Floyd on this tour back in 1994. They were amazing just simply amazing. I wasn't at this exact concert but saw them on the tour this was recorded on. This was in London I saw them at the old Sullivan Stadium outside of Boston where the New England Patriots used to play, before Gillette was built.
Hey Mike and Jess. I enjoy your Pink Floyd reactions. The two of you have an appreciation of the experience of listening to this amazing music. The experience of attending a concert was a vast expansion of that feeling. Here is a little story you may like: On March 1, 1973 the Dark Side of the Moon album was released in the U.S. which happened to be my 18th birthday. In addition, I attended their concert 5 days later. Quite a birthday present! Granted, many people enjoyed substances at these events, but the truth is, the immersion of music, lights and theatrics were enough to send anyone on a trip. I wish you two could experience that. Thank you for your journey with all of us fans, believe me it will last many years. I am almost 70 and I have never forgotten a single song from Pink Floyd. Welcome aboard. 🤩
I'm glad you made this video, it reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, honest wife, $75k biweekly and Maria Luisa Clare is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Maria L. Clare is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!
After a lifetime of listening to Pink Floyd, i was fortunate enough to see them at this great concert. My brother & myself travelled over 200 miles to see them at Earls court. One track that stands out for me at the venue was 'One of these days'. A masterpiece with Mr Gilmour on slide guitar. Thank you for reacting to one of the greatest groups of all time & one very dear to me. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
The Pulse concert included the entire Dark Side of the Moon in the second half. The third best selling album of all time (behind Jackson Thriller and AC/DC) in the album charts for a constant 17 years. DSOTM was from 1972, this concert is 1994 but the compositions (they're not just songs) are timeless. I've loved them since they formed in 1965 and still get goosebumps listening. All of their songs carry a message, one that hits you harder the older you get. I'm 75, my kids listen to Pink Floyd, my grandkids listen to Pink Floyd. Although PF basically ceased after the death of Rick Wright the keyboard player, guitarist Dave Gilmore still tours now aged 78 playing PF amongst his own numbers and he still makes his guitar sing. The best guitarist ever from the best band on the planet.
Have a listen to the great gig in the sky this pulse version and listen to the girls singing if don’t fill up you’ll certainly get goosebumps. I’m shivering now now thinking about it. Love your reactions. Keep with Peter Kaye and also try Sean lock he deffo got your sense of humour. Cheers
Back in the nineties I was looking for a new hi-fi system, back in the days when you had to choose an amplifier, speakers, record deck as separate units. I went to various stores to listen to their units. I took with me Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl and played Time. Those alarm clocks were so crystal clear and surrounded you, and then the depth of tone in Dave Gilmour’s guitar. Amazing.
Great reaction. Now work through the Pulse concert. Coming back to life, Sorrow, High Hopes, Great Gig in the sky, Shine on you Crazy Diamond.......keep going.
Time from the album, Darkside of the Moon. Darkside of the Moon was my first introduction to Pink Floyd in the 70s as a young teenager. We have so many groups and great music that never made it across the pond to your country
Thanks, guys.. I first heard this as a teenager... PF takes a lot of patience to appreciate... (their shows were well-known for awesome effects... I never got to see them live.. it was usually "draw down the shades, and relax with eyes closed")
The be way to listen to Pink Floyd is to listen to the whole album as it will take you on a journey. I remember as a teenager listening to The dark side of the moon and getting lost in my mind and feeling 🤗😇
"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again" Probably my favorite line in music. The older you get, the more this hits like a brick.
You know, I've heard maybe everything by Pink Floyd a thousand times. I still enjoy it, of course, but for the last few years I've been entertaining myself by watching the reactions to their music. I have to say, I'm enjoying it immensely. Watching those enthusiastic people staring open-mouthed, shaking their heads in disbelief and smiling and fooling around like I did when I first heard them. Then I love hearing the verbal reviews and reactions to their music or videos. I have to say, it really moves me. Thanks a lot. If I could recommend one really fantastic journey, it would be Shine on you Crazy Diamond (I strongly recommend the studio version with the original animated video though). This is an absolute musical masterpiece that will shoot you into space.
When you say that this type of music allows your thoughts to come to the surface, you are close. Actually what happens is that your mind settles down to deeper levels of functioning and it gets closer to the source of thoughts, the transcendent value. That is why they are an experience, or if you wish a trip, better yet a journey within.
Anything from Pulse frankly. I was lucky enough to be there at Earls Court, London in 94. Totally took it for granted at the time. Had seen Queen live a few weeks before the Pulse concert and Rush, SuperTramp and Dire Straits within a year of it. Like I said I took it all for granted and its only now I truly realise what an amazing time I was living through.
Watch or listen to pink floyd the wall from start to finish, it's a whole thing connected. i first listend to it in high school back in 1988, me and my pal had a sony walkman and in ear headphones were just kinda new so we each had one earphone in during class as we sat side by side and the teacher couldn't see it. great times
I listened to this song and the entire album when I was a young teen, then a middle-aged man and now a man in his twilight years. For me, the meaning has not changed over those years. As I got older, the meaning became more powerful, more intense, more pertinent to my life. I saw in the comments of various people recommending The Great Gig in the Sky from the Pulse concert. Yes, that version is probably the best live version out there. The ladies were certainly excellent. But the album version was done by Clare Torry who was the one who composed the vocalizing ad lib over two and a half takes with no instructions from the band other than to use no words. Clare Torry's version is nothing short of breathtakingly powerful.
When I was a teen and early 20-something, I liked Pink Floyd well enough, enjoyed this song, and thought it sounded cool but didn't really think about it very deeply. Tbh, I'm not sure I could've even told you what it was about back in the day as I think I only ever really half listened to it. As a middle-aged man, however, the lyrics of "Time" are devastating and, more often than not, will make me cry. And yet I still listen to the song because it's a brilliant, gorgeous piece of art that perfectly encapsulates a painful but universal truth that we, as humans, all share. Btw, I agree with what you said at the end, that "Time" is a good song to listen to and reminisce, but I also think it's a great song to listen to for motivation to stop procrastinating and do something. It reminds you that life is short and we only have so long to do the things we want to do, so stop waiting and just do them while you're here and you have your brief moment in the sun. As much as I find "Time" devastating in the thoughts and memories it brings up of what I haven't done, this song has also, on many occasions, inspired me to get moving and do things I'd put off for years.
The older you get, the harder it hits.
Exactly... and after fifty years, I wasn't prepared for stemming the tears when being reminded that more than ten years got behind me, either.
Time. One of the greatest songs, from one of the greatest albums, from one of the greatest bands, of all... time.
Yep, and written by guys in their 20s at the time so they had wisdom beyond their years to have such insights into the human experience.
@@larrybremer4930 That's a simple but very perceptive observation.

These lyrics have deep meaning for young people, but young people rarely pay enough attention to hear them, let alone heed them.
If your young, the lyrics are a warning. Middle aged, they’re a reminder. If you are old, the lyrics are an epitaph.

"And then one day you find / ten years have got behind you / no one told you when to run / you missed the starting gun" Brilliant lyrics and so true for some people.
"Time" was released in 1973.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
The original bassist with Pink Floyd Roger Waters, co wrote it with David Gilmour (Lead singer) -
“I wrote that when I was 29 years old,” Roger Waters once told Rolling Stone. “The bits in the song where it goes, No one told you when to run/You missed the starting gun, it’s about my experience of being 29 years old and certainly going, ‘Fuck me. It’s the middle of life. I’ve been told that I was preparing for something.’
“The reason it’s a good song is because it describes the predicament of anybody who, growing up - if we’re grown up at all - suddenly realizes that time is going really, really fast,” Waters continued. “It makes you start to philosophize about life and what is important and how to derive joy from that.”

May be my favourite song of all time. Thanks for reacting to this ❤
I have been playing this on my birthday for the past 40 years and as I enter my 8th decade the words become more relevant.
Let me know what you think forty years hence.
@@jabberbone1 Still as good as ever and the words are as poignant, reflective as ever.
@@jabberbone1 I might make another couple if I'm lucky!
Me too, since I was 24/25 and will continue to do so
I'm glad you made this video, it reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, honest wife, $75k biweekly and Maria Luisa Clare is to be thanked.
Wow 😱 I know her too!
Miss Maria Luisa Clare is a remarkable individual whom has brought immense positivity and inspiration into my life.
I miserly kicked off with a $2k, and the results have been mind blowing TBH!!
Indisputably! I'd hear of people who started with little experience and still got to remarkable heights, all because of Maria Luisa Clare's guidance.
Alot of songs in 70,s/80,s were masterpieces..... pink floyd were next level
That`s why its called `progressive'!!!
Great Gig in the Sky from the Pulse concert has to be next...
The lyrics hit hard when I was a kid. Now I’m 33, they hit bloody harder. I’ll probably be dead when they next hit.
Time from the album, Darkside of the Moon. Darkside of the Moon was my first introduction to Pink Floyd in the 70s as a young teenager. We have so many groups and great music that never made it across the pond to your country
Me also been listening to Floyd since 73 and still listen to them every day
Thanks, guys.. I first heard this as a teenager... PF takes a lot of patience to appreciate... (their shows were well-known for awesome effects... I never got to see them live.. it was usually "draw down the shades, and relax with eyes closed")
The words are everything in this song. As you age you get this songs meaning
Defo more from this gig please guys x love it
The be way to listen to Pink Floyd is to listen to the whole album as it will take you on a journey. I remember as a teenager listening to The dark side of the moon and getting lost in my mind and feeling 🤗😇
"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again"
Probably my favorite line in music. The older you get, the more this hits like a brick.
I was at pulse so great to see it as I remember it
You HAVE to listen to the Great Gig In The Sky from this concert and hear SAM BROWN sing. She will blow your socks off !!
Sums up life for us all. We are born and each year seems to get faster - it's like a race to your grave. What do we have to show for it at the end?
Dark Side of the Moon celebrated 50 years; Pulse concert performance was from 1994 and Pink Floyd were formed in 1965.
Run like hell from this concert is the final track and brilliant.
Gotta check out.
Pink Floyd - On the turning away Live from the delicate sound of thunder concert.
Pink Floyd - Sorrow Live from Pulse.
Great Gig In The Sky next!
This is an absolute musical masterpiece that will shoot you into space.
i was at this gig fantastic
When you say that this type of music allows your thoughts to come to the surface, you are close. Actually what happens is that your mind settles down to deeper levels of functioning and it gets closer to the source of thoughts, the transcendent value. That is why they are an experience, or if you wish a trip, better yet a journey within.
I was 25 years old and there. It was THE show of a lifetime🤘🔥
I was 23 and at the opening show from this tour in Miami, what a night! Great memories. Best concert I've been to.
I've been lucky enough to see Floyd twice live
React to Pink Floyds "The Great Gig In The Sky" Live at Pulse... Its super deep!
You experience Pink Floyd music.
David Gilmour best guitar player ever super great band best ever and its relaxing
It's about time and how fast it goes by.
