It isn't really a thing irl because...there are no background characters irl The former takes it's name from the latter, but isn't really represented in wider media, even queer media usually features several notable straight characters because straight people are an unavoidable factor in the queer experience. It's a mostly real life phenomena where queer friend groups generally only feature 0 or 1 straight and cis person (just like above). This is because the pool of straight and cis people who would hang out only with queer people isn't that big in the first place
