I'm a fan of HAL. I've always felt comfortable and cared about while on-board. I love their itineraries. And the fact that they are NOT ran over with children.
I'm in my 40's and enjoy HAL. The typical and average age is indeed older, often 60+. Much of the entertainment, though not all, includes music from the 50s to the 70s. Unless you decide you are out of place, I suspect you will feel welcome. Granted, loud and wild drunks (outside of a few bars) and wild, unruly children aren't appreciated by most passengers. So as long as you aren't planning to be wild and unruly at any age, are willing to dress in what I would call business casual attire for dinner in the main dining room, and don't expect modern pop music to be played as the default, I suspect you will be fine.
It had Dive In, but yes, just one piano and no Dutch Cafe. After having just sailed a bigger ship with all of the things, it felt like a big step back. :(
Thanks for this, in particular the "pros and cons" helps those considering a sailing on this particular ship for the first time

Itinerary is the #1 reason for choosing a ship. Often HAL’s smaller ships travel to more interesting places. We sailed Zuiderdam for the Panama Canal.
Researching a trip on this ship. So are you saying there is a time of the day where you go hungry ? Can you tell me what time that would be ?
What about wifi?
Does this ship have washer and dryer for world tours?
No, only the regular pay laundry services.
What age group was it? I’m in my forties and keen to try HAL, people keep telling me it’s a much older age group and that I would be out of place

Thanks for the video. it was very informative. I would have been mad choosing this ship, but it seems so boring.
Only one piano? No 'Dive In' on the pool deck? No Dutch Cafe? Bummer!

Pronunciation is "Zeye der dam" NOT "Zwee der dam." Sorry, blame it on education. Or maybe listen to the local Dutch if sailing Baltics.
