A little late to reply, but still... *Spoilers for DoW2* In the DoW2 trilogy it's made clear that Kyras, the Chapter Master, had ordered the Blood Ravens there, knowing full well they'd be fighting the Imp Guard in pursuit of their relics. More than likely because at that point he was already corrupted by Chaos.
In the tabletop Karskin can take two plamsa guns which cut down SMs like piss through toilet paper. But you only get 4 shots, with 2/3s hitting and 5/6 wounding. Which is 3 dead marines a turn if your lucky. But they cant really take the return bolter fire. But the thing with guard is numbers which Spacemarines dont have.
@Tyratius2 Sisters of Battle pretty much thought both the Space Mariens and the Imperial Guard was the reason Chaos appered, so they were gonna set everything on fire, as for the space marines, eh, who knows about them
Actaully what you are describing is a stormblade. The bane blade is a massive 300+ ton tank armed with a mega battle cannon (upscaled version of the leman russ cannon) 2 las cannon turrets, a demolisher cannon, and 3 twinlinked bolter emplacements (2 sponson mounted 1 turret).
Great crusade was: Emperor try to unite humanity. But after him death imperium felt into relligion. In imperium is one organisation named: ecclesiarchy, which have which still worship Emperor.
Space marines see the Emperor beyond human, so probably they see him like god. Adeptus mechanicus see him like the greatest human ever walked among humanity.
Imperial Guard is normally a defensive force. They make sure that liberated or conquered planets stay imperial. The Space Marines are more of an offensive force.

Perfectly reasonable question. But no. The Horus Hersy happens in the 31st millennium when the Imperium was young (by a few centuries) and the Emperior still walked among men. This is some 10,000 years before the events of either fire warrior and any of the Dawn of War series.
@TarroYoko I dunno they had 4 Leman Russ tanks and a Baneblade + 2 basilisk artilery cannons and Terms aren't too effective Vs Vehicles but thats just my opinion...

in the ending of chaos rising it is discovered that azariah kyras, the chapter master of the blood ravens is a heretic, i guess that would explain why they had to fight even the guard, they were unknowingly following orders of a corrupt chapter master.
they do, the space marines got high mighty over some relics important to the chapter, in the ending for space marines ending the Ig's in the imperium of man dont forget their trechary (hint..hint). In the Ig story, an inquisitor is sent to investigate the chapter. But alteaslt Ig ending was more devoted to the imperium, they took the planet. If i recall correctly the Marines left.
Dont get it still I thought the Space Marines were on the same side as the Guards. They are both created to server and to protect the same thing arent they.
Whats the best hardware set-up for playing the 40K RTS games. I get random fritz-outs within minutes of starting a game. It's very frustrating, because I love playing this stuff :O(
Lol I know right? The Baneblade could fuck them all up on it's own (Including the four hellfire dreads). Now if the dreadnoughts were normal ones then yeah they could probably beat it by getting up to it in close combat but since that's not the case; the marines are screwed :P

Space Marines should kick IG easily but the Baneblade and the Basilisk ....make it a little tricky. I tend to outfit my SP squads with one of each weapon. Tend to devastate the enemy.
Here's my question. The Blood Ravens were on Kronus to secure their relics, right? Well, why would the Grey Knights (1:36) agree to help with that? I mean, I get it- new unit and all- but background-wise it doesn't make a lot of sense. And before anyone says it, I don't think they knew that Chaos was on the planet when they deployed.
I like the Imperial Guard's motive rater than the Blood Ravens, since they want to reclaim the planet for the Emperor(But their real objective was to hunt Farseer Talader) while the Blood Ravens wants to purge the planet since it's "Infested with Xenos", a very lame excuse since they had a connection to the planet.
i think that there is a little problem with the lore in this campaing, why alexanders is chasing taldeer? in think that this things do the order xenos with the deathwatch, and in the case that the imperial guard do it, why there is no inquisitor with lucas alexander?
Little late to this comment but... The reason why Alexander was chasing Taldeer was because this took place shortly after the events of Winter Assault. In Winter Assault, the canon ending was the Eldar faction, Taldeers forces gained an Imperial kill count of near 1,000 soldiers during mission 4, and they ended up destroying the legendary titan in Mission 5 after overloading it's power into the soulstone. The key relic that whole game was centred around and what Segmentum Command ordered the IG to collect no matter the cost. While the destruction of the the titan itself was an accident, the explosion caused from it razed the area for several miles, which wiped out most of what was left of the Imperial guard, and lead to the death of General Sturnn. Making Taldeer one of the most hated Farseers in the eyes of the I.G. and one of a higher priority to be captured then even Gorgutz or Shas'O Kais.

duh. actualy it should run smoother. i dont have Dark Crusade or Winter Assault but both the Demos ran smother and with better textures on my old pc. 1 other thing Winter assault and Dark Crusade add is the option to make bodies NOT disapear and it dosnt realy slow the game down.

If the Imperium were to get their hands on the relics linking the Blood Ravens to their past, the chapter would be declared Excommunicate Traitoris and destroyed by the Ordo Malleus.
If the Imperium (Imperial Guards, Space Marine, etc.) works with Tyranids and Tau, then they can kick so many arses. I read some article and it said Tyranids cannot be affected by the influence of chaos. So there would be no more heresy. Also the Tau technology can give humanity more stronger advanced weapons. Only if they agree to worship the greater and the emperor though. (Sigh)

IT isnt a smart move to try to face down space marines!!!! BUT ... OMG .. the IG had so MANY guardsmen there .. TANKS and ARTILLERY + a FREAKING BANEBLADE .. Blood Ravens are in a bad situation!

@RX117STARoTOAPRIME I can hardly imagine, that a hive-minded, predatory race that knows only survival, and evolutionary perfection, would work together with, or worship anything. The thoughts about the Tau are more considerable, but i think religion keeps the two empires at war, and that wont change, because of other threats. Think about real life religious wars: if the Europeans and the Arabians could work together, we would live today in a paradise for sure. But that's not how it works sadly.

If the Blood Ravens are descended from the Thousand Sons, it means they have Magnus' gene-seed and therefore must be purged no matter what.
