Morels rock, Jason. Thanks for this one. I have yet to find one morel, but i'ma king at finding Chicken of the Woods. 35 plus pounds a year. Sniff.

Lemme teach you some quick magic Mr. Wizard. There are several hundreds of thousands of spores in a single morel, If you were to blend the bajesus out of one and split that equal among 5 5-gallon buckets of water, each bucket would still have 1-2 hundred thousand spores, splash that (or better yet use a homemade PVC squirt gun) around the oak, elm, ash, and aspen tree fallings/bases and they will take hold everywhere they can. Build your own gold mine on your way to the gold mine.
If they naturally 'flowered' more than a couple weeks a year they would not be so uncommon, But we both know, If you know where to look (for, or put) them and you will find dozens. Help em out, you will be rewarded. Nature everything, you find something good, and harm free, Nurture it.
When I clean them I use 1/2 five gallon pail and put them all in it to rinse, then dump on my ash trees 😃✅
Morels are super good. And I usually will not eat mushrooms. But morels are different. We like to pick em when we are camping and cook them with our dinner. Super duper good fried with some butter. Oh man. . And you got to do some sluiceing. Perfect day. I love shoveling right on to the slyice it takes the back breaking classifier out of the equation

Score! We're having a great morel season here too! I've been getting them under the apple trees. They're incredibly delicious (understatement) and a special gift for key deserving people like my local Legion bartender.....thats a tip that puts you on vip status forever 🍻! I actually had enough to dehydrate 3 quarts...so far🍻! My daughter gets $60 a pound for fresh ones where she lives👍. Don't forget about wild leeks/ramps! I've been dehydrating and pickling this weekend🍻! The stinging nettles and asparagus are prime picking now and lambs quarter is coming soon! Can't beat quality free food! Hey....nice gold and cobbles to the cobbled up cobbler🍻✅🥃!
We’ve also been cleaning up on asparagus! The ramps make excellent dried soup seasoning!!!!

Y’all are sooooo lucky your ash trees have not been decimated by the Emerald Ash Borer. Here in Michigan, 99% of the medium- to large-sized trees are dead. What a beautiful day of shrooming! My favorite hobby of all :)

They just confirmed them in every county of the state(Wisconsin) besides 1 and I am sure they are there. Will be lots of musrooms the next couple years. Golden oyster mushrooms will cover the state in the next year or so too almost guaranteed with the ash die off about to happen in the North.

I slice and saute the morels in butter, add sliced garlic and brown it after the morels are done, add a splash of worchestershire and reduce that to a thick sauce then off the heat swirl in more butter to make a thick butter mushroom garlic sauce. Pour over a steak and chow down!

BITD I would go fall chinook fishing at the Oregon Coast, but there's no guarantee of a 40 lb fish, so on the way back home I'd stop and hunt chanterelles.
There were times I got 20 lbs of mushrooms and 30 pounds of fish.

Good effort with the lazared fern stamp.....tip is get your artwork made into a rubber stamp by a specialized company which is what I do for my miniature wood work as well as stamping on paper bags....much tidier and quicker and buy a black stamp pad like this ( great for paper and wood )...will send a pic to you......ps....love your channel

I talked to a gentleman who was 90 years old Vietnam vet and he told me about a river in Michigan and he said he could get a half ounce a day, they were using long toms and said they could leave the tom in the river, and nobody knew any different. he prospected around the world, he said he told his wife they were going hunting and went got prospecting and said he saved his gold because it was real money.

Sliced morels sauteed in butter with a little garlic(slices) added towards the end(before they get tender), if the garlic browns remove form the pan and set aside. When the mushrooms are tender add the garlic back and add a splash of worchestershire sauce, reduce that until it is thick(do not go dry and burn, NASTY) then off the heat swirl in more butter to make a pan sauce. Pour over a steak... you will never reach for A1 or Heinz 57 steak sauce if this is available!

Damn EAB have the whole state by the balls! Great for mushrooms but my generation, more likely our children, will be planting plenty of ash trees after they take them all out. I have never been prospecting but I'm sure if I watch anymore of your videos I will have a new expensive hobby I don't need. Have to stack the deck for when retirement comes so I don't get bored!

How far are you from from home to the beach, I guess this spot is closer, but either way, there's got to be a honey hole you can step in up to your knees? I've never been in Wisconsin, but just about. Think hard to when you've had a last flood. There's got to be a honey hole.

I actually just learned about these this year and I heard they’re good to eat , the only reason I know about em is cause we built a deck last year and about 200 sq ft of it sits about 18” off the ground and it has literally 100s of them like a dang mushroom farm under it . They’re all Morels , tempted to try em

The white morals are out here too. And the Grey's that grow under the old red pines. Our early darks were out a month ago. The big yellows will be out real soon. They fill bushels baskets faster.

I always heard , and use an onion sack to collect morel mushrooms. The open mesh let's the spores fall out and "reseed" the area you walk around.
