I don't know how i arrived here, but that was a great walk down memory lane! I used to watch from the wall at St. Michael's every year and wait (hopefully) for the car shaped like an orange to go by. It was great seeing the old Mercedes lorries from Woods at Detling used for the floats. I actually loved Sittingbourne in the 80's, a lot of good memories, so thank you so much for uploading!!!!!!!!!!!!
Compare that to these days carnival a couple of floats and that's it all over I remember being in the carnival and it seemed to last a lot more longer . Thanks for the vids by the way!
wow i was transported back to a time we had a town center. The driver of the A Wood & Sons truck was Ron Reid i was 1 year into my apprenticeship with that firm in 1984.
I think the carnival was as crap back then as it is now , maybe we just expect much more these dayz..... It was great to see the high street and shops from yesteryear though. thanks for posting :)
I remember these back in the late 60's early 70's, awesome

The Orange cars were converted Minis ..... Outspan Oranges was the company who owned them, there was one kept at A Woods yard at Detling aerodrome

It's funny isn't it, you always imagine these carnivals as being so much better back in the day. But it was as rubbish then as it is now lol!
