John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers influenced me to become a guitar maker over 50 years ago. I've still got a les paul pickguard that he kindly signed for me at a concert. He will be sadly missed. RIP
HI friend, you were the reason to build a guitar for myself after your concert in Quasimodo in Berlin. AMAZING. UNFORGOTTEN. Rest in peace. Thank you for your blues.
Watched him and the band playing so many times in my teenage years and he genuinely was my inspiration for learning the guitar. A great talent and truly the father of British Blues - he will be sorely missed. RIP John and thank you :(
Just listening to Double before jumo8bg on here and Claptons Farwell and to His ol friend As always, thank You fir being such a great Brother of Blues Love this channel
terrible news from where I sit!! Seem like yesterday when I brought home 'Blues From Laurel Canyon' and listened to it the first time and had my my blown by 'The Bear' and Mick Taylor!!! Sad to see him go, but good for his Spirit!!
Wow! This is the first I've heard of his death! Now, I should share my own personal "John Mayall Story!" I was working with a local Bluegrass/Country/Southern Rock band whose leader was a guy named Leon Poindexter back in 1977/78 in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. We were scheduled to open for a Mayall concert at the Sunshine Speedway racetrack the next day, but we were booked to play the Don Cesar (sp?) Hotel lounge on St. Petersburg Beach the night before. The stage was rather high and large, and a couple of sets in, I felt somebody tugging at my pant leg. Looking down, I saw a little guy beckoning for my attention. He asked if it would be okay if John Mayall came up and played one of my harmonicas? I said "sure" and passed the word to the rest of the band. I had no idea Mayall was staying at that high-end hotel that night! And then, the great man himself stepped up. He looked in my case, which held 12 diatonic harmonicas, mostly Hohner Golden Melodies and a few old Marine Bands. He then declared that he didn't like the "plastic" Golden Melodies and preferred to play the "wooden" Marine Bands. He chose one in Bb and my band launched into a blues tune in the corresponding key. I went and sat down in the crowd and listened to one of my early harmonica idols play one of my harps for the rest of the set. Great memory! "Brute" Bruttomesso
I've never heard a guitarist channel this Mayall period better than you. You have the essence of the holy trinity, Clapton, Green and Taylor. Fair play. I could listen to you all day. Release an album on Spotify?
What a real bummer this is Mark. I remember my friend's brother, they lived across the street from me back in the early '70s (70/71-ish?) telling me that I had to listen to JM and the Bluesbreakers. That was the first I had heard of them. I've been listening to the "Live In 1967" albums lately with Peter Green. Great albums. He certainly was "The Godfather of British Blues". R.I.P. John and thanks for all the great music you made. On a related note Mark, really loved your playing behind the video. Beautifully done and quite fitting! Cheers, Matt
A British Blues giant he really took the black man’s music and brought it forward to the white masses, and his band produced the greatest guitar players in the world God bless the mayall family
RIP and thanks for the years of great music, it’s gotten me through both the best and worst of times. Was fortunate enough to meet him once after a show out 6 or 7 years ago, and he was such a gentleman and a gracious with his time. Total class act.
Luckily for me...a sailor off a Destroyer..brought the famous " Beano " LP out to Singapore...we played it to death up the Dockyard Club....!!...1967...Pushed me on with my guitar playing...and I'm STILL at it today..!!!..This music was NOT allowed on Singapore radio/TV......!!..Cliff Richard came to perform a show...But was refused permission to perform in Singapore....Because his HAIR was too long...!!!....YES really...!!!???!!!
Haha well, nice work, mate. Your encyclopedic knowledge of the guitar vocabulary of this tradition, especially the work of Clapton and Taylor, had me thinking it was a version of some deep cut I had never heard before. The vibe was authentic, very Bluesbreakers; my reaction to hearing it was “this sort of sounds like Eric, but it’s definitely not.” Love your channel and your deep and careful study of golden-age Bluesbreakers guitar.
Hi Jeff, All the audio in the videos (with the exception of where I demo that 3-in-1 amp and a few guitars) are made in Garageband, plugging directly into the computer via a box.

Followed the Bluesbreakers since the 60’s. Big loss. Been playing The Beano Album and of course John’s solo album The Blues Alone. RIP.
Beautiful tribute from someone who gets it, so it really counts - thank you.
Thanks so much
There will be many tributes and rightly so - this will be one of the most fitting. Well done, my friend. R.I.P. John Mayall
Thanks Derek.

Great video. RIP John.
Thank you.
I honestly thought he would live forever.... I suppose he will.
John Mayall's tribute to JB Lenoir reminds me of Blues Giant Legacy. RIP😢
That was a great tribute.
RIP🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm young enough I'll have watched all these legends pass away :'(
I have also seen them all and fortunately we still have Eric and Mick.
RIP you Blues Mentor!
Rip. I'm so sorry
Mayall tried to preserve the musical heritage of the bluesand at the same time introduce new instruments and arrangements. RIP.
Hay blues en el PARAISO.

Ha ha, great story, Peter!
RIP to John mayall ❤😢
70 years playing only variations of the same chord progression is my idea of hell.
On the other hand, what a challenge to confine yourself to strict parameters yet still produce such great music.
❤❤❤
Rip John

Blues in Heaven
Oh, no. R.I.P.
I’m ashamed for having to ask this, but can someone please identify the long jam that makes up the second half of this video?
It's just me noodling over a backing track.

What kind of amplifier are you using?
