@mgbaron I think either is a good choice! For what it's worth, I haven't had any scratches on my walnut ones, but I also only store board games on them, which aren't ever going to scratch a shelf.
Thanks for the video! The fact that the optional shelves do not have indentations for the posts to prevent sliding is a HUGE miss (for me). Glad it doesn’t bother you… but you just saved me some significant money. Thanks!
Great review. I don’t quite understand how even the backing would help with your shelves. It looks like you’re already up against the wall. Surprised the shelves simply aren’t bigger to prevent this.
There is a little groove about an inch from the back of the shelves that the backing slides into. The optional shelf would rest right up against the backing if it were there, and it would prevent the shelf from being pushed back. That being said, when taking games off the shelf, oftentimes you're sliding them towards you, and the shelf can still fall off forwards instead of backwards. Hopefully this is something Allplay takes into account for future designs of these shelves.
The walnut finish looks like it scratches easily. This video sways me toward the natural finish which would show scratches less.

Yeah, it definitely seems like something that could be easily remedied. Hopefully Allplay takes this into account for future designs!
