I'm such a fan of both the Winter Brothers Edgar and Johnny, Have you ever seen so much talent in one family? These Texas Boys got some soul.
    Thanks

React to “Sound The Bell”. Lots of closeups of his lightening speed and unbelievable clarity. As loved as he is, he’s still very underrated in my opinion.

I heard an audio clip of Johnny Winter and Jimi Hendrix jamming in a small club somewhere, just before Jimi passed away. Talk about two giants in the Rock/Blues music scene! I saw a poster from the late 60s, with Johnny Winter and Jimi Hendrix as sort of Rock guitar Super Heroes in cartoon form. Turn on your Black Light, and Wow! Their they were in Brilliant color, come to life in the darkness. That was the 1960s.

Johnny and Muddy became very close friends and Johnny produced two albums for Muddy. One won a Grammy. Johnny took great care of Mud and his band.

I'm a pretty advanced guitarist and hate to admit that I never knew very much about JW. I mostly play Van Halen like leads with a lot of legato. I thought Johnny Winter was some LA socialite - I have to aplogize for that. BUT, I have found out who he really is and I'm in. Just love the guy!!! His playing, his personality, and etc. Being from Texas myself, I just love him even more. A true Blueman for sure. RIP Legend!!!

You got great taste in guitarist and blues. Love this BB King song . Johnny winter was awesome and an underated guitarist who helped Muddy and other bluesist get their due appreciation and honor. Check out Mike Bloomfield his guitar will bring tears to your eyes as well.

You couldn't have picked a better example!! That particular band was really tight. Later on he helped resurrect Muddy Waters career before he died, and they did at least 3 albums together.

Good on ya! Equally proficient in guitar and voice, equally expressive... a pure blend of the bluesiest blues around. You're in for a treat if you're exploring the work of Pappa John. A blues guitar virtuoso above the rest. That's Tommy Shaw on bass Double Trouble fame.

Johnny Winter being ranked 63rd on a list of greatest guitar players is a joke This song alone is evidence that he should be at or near the top of any such list. I had the privilege of seeing him (the Johnny Winter Band) perform live at the State Fair Coliseum in Ft. Worth in the fall of 1970 (or maybe 1971) Rick Derringer was his second lead at the time. Johnny vs. Rick was like teacher vs. pupil.
