Actually Sonic is in the right here. This is a What If scenario, where Shadow didn't keep his promise to protect humanity and basically killed all of them. So that means that Shadow is the one who deserves a brutal beat up and honestly, i hope Sonic delivers him one, cuz all Shadow deserves in this animation is pain and misery.

For those of you who dont know this comic was a what if made if Shadow let the Ark crash into Earth, killing most people including all of Sonics friends, this is pretty much the aftermath of the crash with Sonic just laying into Shadow and even though hes in an angered state and in complete psychopath mode, Sonic is completely right with every word he says, Shadow is the one whos in the wrong here
So, is this a timeline where shadow didn't promise to protect the humans like maria asked of him? Looks like based on what Sonic says is that he probably just got finished destroying a city or something. Also based on the surroundings I think it's safe to say Shadow probably did destroy something. Why else would Sonic be in his dark form.
I guess it's something that happened before the end of Sonic Adventure 2, as they still call eatchother "faker" and "Hedgehog"

Facts
Sonic is in his dark form, do you KNOW how much it would take for him to get that pissed at someone? Let alone say what he did in the comic? Something obviously happened that involved Shadow doing something catastrophic to the environment (possibly may have claimed lives as a consequence too). Intentionally or not, Shadow would never do this without a good reason though, but Sonic doesn’t seem to agree that the means justified the ends. Sonic wouldn’t go that far for no reason. I’m not saying he’s 100% right (he’s definitely gonna regret saying some things once the fight is over), but Shadow definitely did something that caused it and clearly it wasn’t small, and judging by is outburst, he didn’t like what he had to do either. Sonic fights for what *he thinks is right* ….and in this case maybe venting some of his anger as a side thing, but still, he’s mostly on the side of good. Shadow fights for the sake of the *future* and will do whatever it takes to preserve it because that’s what *Maria* wanted him to protect (in SA2 anyway, in later games, he starts doing things because he wants to instead of just following orders like he was created to do, but he still tries to honour Maria’s last wish). A subtle but important distinction that probably lead to this. Sorry for repeating a couple points so much but, I really feel like people should look more into the situation rather than just picking a side and going “BEAT HIS ASS!!!!!!!!” Like the other absolutely deserves it
This comic is essentially a hypothetical Sonic vs Shadow if Shadow never fulfilled Maria's wish, so honestly, I think Sonic was in the right and had every right to mention her name

Honestly, it'd take a WHOLE lot for Sonic to enter a dark form. He watched all the destruction that chaos caused, presumably killing countless people, and still had enough positivity in his heart to go super with the emeralds. At a bare minimum, Shadow had to have seriously hurt one of Sonic's friends.
This has to take place at a time where Sonic would know about Maria and Shadow's past, but before they would've had their final fight on the space colony and learned to respect one another.
My theory is that after Sonic and Shadow's fight on prison island, Sonic is unable to get to Tails and/or Amy in time and one of them is lost in the explosion. In his bitterness, Sonic goes out to put a stop to Eggman and Shadow so they can't hurt anyone else, during which time he and Shadow come across each other, likely while Shadow is in the middle of spreading chaos for whatever reason.
This serves to push Sonic over the edge which leads to this moment.
As for how Sonic learns about Maria, I'd assume he probably either learns from rouge somehow, or Tails manages to survive and is able to do some digging on Sonic's request.

It can be seen this way:
Maria wanted Shadow to protect the earth and humanity, but the black hedgehog was unable to fulfill his promise and eliminated a large part of humanity, and Sonic's friends, which justifies the blue hedgehog's Dark transformation. Then Sonic quotes Maria and says how hurt she would be to see what Shadow did, soon after that a big battle between the hedgehogs starts and only one of them will come out alive.
The ending I would give:
Sonic ends up winning and killing Shadow. The blue hedgehog cries bitterly over the loss of his friends and the extinction of practically all of humanity, so Sonic gathers all 7 Chaos Emeralds and goes back in time, at the exact time where Gerald Robotnik is creating Shadow to warn him not to continue with the creation. The blue hedgehog explains to Gerald that he came from the future and everything he knew about Shadow, and also reveals about the destruction and extinction of almost all of humanity that Shadow was going to cause; Both Gerald and Maria would be shocked and shaken by what happened in the future, so Gerald makes the difficult decision not to continue with the Shadow project, even if it costs his granddaughter the death of the illness she had, but Sonic promises that he will give a way about it. Transforming into his Super state, he cures Maria of her illness and after resolving everything, Sonic returns to his own time and finds humanity and his friends saved, thus the hedgehog created a reboot in the timeline, where Shadow and Biolizard never existed, and where Black Doom and the Black Arms would never attack the earth.
It would be like Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.
(In case anyone asks why Sonic, as Super Sonic, would heal Maria, the Chaos Emeralds have the power to transform thoughts into power, so it wouldn't be something Sonic couldn't do in his super form).

hahaha dark sonic isnt beating a blood-thirsty chaos shadow lol. dark sonic uses the negative energy if the emeralds. WAY weaker than positive. and you can see his eyes meaning hes in a SEMI DARK form. even worse. this is a bloodthirsty chaos shadow with inhibitor rings off which is almost, if not stronger than super forms. dark sonic literally doesnt compare to ANY OTHER FORM in the canon. maybe werehog fodder
We don't know how powerful Dark Sonic really is, so there is no a correct answer to that question.
Here my opinion why soinc would win you see soinc is in dark form or semi. And shadow is in chaos form if shadow uses too much chaos energy he might strain his body or worse Sonic use negative chaos energy plus he doesn’t strain his body if he in that form ( I think) so therefore I think shadow would probably lose

theirs technically levels to them semi dark shadow is from the tv CGI spot where shadow is turning dark but is still thinking about his past and isn't as fight hungry.

their nearly equal in power confirmed by the characters even though one is positive/light chaos energy and the other is negative/dark they also have unlimited power and are arguably more powerful then super shadow sense theirs a question mark quote by Sega stateing felling the dark gauge would make shadow the most powerful he's ever been though again dark shadow and hero shadow are near equal, hero shadow uses chaos control to become largely faster than before as the characters mainly tailes knuckles and charmy state hero shadow moves super fast compared to base shadow and the sonic news wiki/news network states hero shadow uses a large scale chaos control to become largely faster then before hero shadow is faster then super shadow in game it's easier to see on the super shadow mod where you play as super shadow in stages.
stated from the sonic news wiki/news network dark shadow and hero shadow don't change much physically meaning their boost is about the same i don't know dark shadows second equal amp but i think it's streanth do to a trailer to the game haveing stronger and faster on it.

Tldr, this ISNT Hero Shadow in the comics scenario, its Shadow in the Dark path of Shadow the hedgehog essentially, so its Sonic who is so pissed he is gone Dark so Shadow mustve done so cruel sh*t, and Shadow who is evil mostly because he took the wrong path, and definitly not past Maria's death

even game wise chaos shadow don't exist as in sonic x and the games shadow releases a yellow ora when the inhibitor Rings are off other then the one time in sonic x where shadows inhibitor Ring glew red while connecting to the chaos emeralds chaos energy.
also not past Maria's death? um it was Maria's death that coused Gerald to mess with shadows memory and turn evil into a destructive weapon for revenge while it was Maria's wish that had shadow want to protect the world and give humanity a chance

Well we are talking about an alternative weaker but alternative, to the Super Sonic, vs Shadow at his very strongest without the Emeralds or maybe only one (since he have the Super Form if he had them all), ofc Shadow would lose, but its actually an interesting fight nonetheless since Chaos Shadow in the games never truly shown his full power the mere fact that his hax would make him be able to clash to an extand with a Super form would be worth the title of ultimate lifeform

Overall, it’s a very balanced fight. The rage infused chaos power in shadow is likely more powerful than just the sheer rage fuelling sonic, but shadow has a critical weakness sonic doesn’t. When he’s uncontrolled and using all his power, Shadow burns through his energy rapidly and will eventually kill himself if he stays uninhibited for too long. Shadow either has to overpower Sonic extremely quickly or he’ll literally fight himself into his grave.

@@shuckleknuckles3581 Fair enough, although I also don’t think Shadow would allow himself to go berserk like that. Sonic fights for what he thinks is right and Shadow fights to preserve the future (both out of his own desire to and to honour Maria’s wish), this subtle but important distinction was most likely what lead to this. What probably happened was that Shadow made what he deemed a necessary sacrifice to ensure the future’s safety while Sonic is totally PISSED that he couldn’t go with (or couldn’t accomplish, based on circumstances) a better (albeit riskier) solution since the damage most likely couldn’t ever be repaired (you can’t blame Sonic for wanting the best possible outcome even if it’s risky, he’s beaten impossible odds for like what? The millionth time now? It would only make sense to aim for the best, at least to him anyway). Still doesn’t explain why Sonic is so mad, even in this scenario it’s EXTREMELY out of character for him to react that badly even if his fiends were in danger, but with a few tweaks (that I don’t have the time to make right now) I could see this explanation working.
Edit (ignore this, this is just to note my ideas and theories on why this happened down so I don’t forget them, and no, I’m not hating on Shadow, it’s just that Sonic’s behaviour in this comic is weird and I don’t know why): Maybe something Shadow did challenged Sonic’s moral code directly? Maybe he overlooked something that could’ve prevented consequences of this magnitude? Maybe on top of that, Sonic’s friends were somehow involved in some way, emotionally or/and physically? Sonic’s been shown to risk even the world to rescue his friends (as seen in frontiers)… still you’d think that Sonic would take time to observe the situation rather than jumping right in, were innocents at risk? That’s the only scenario where he’d take action without thinking twice. And why did it look like Sonic was TRYING to provoke Shadow in the comic? Doesn’t he know better than that? Even in his dark form he’s usually silent. The reason why he taunts the metarex in sonic x was because he was trying to emulate what he’d normally do in that situation because he felt like the amount of anger he felt was unwarranted (most of it was the fake chaos emeralds’ doing anyway). So the fact that he’s not holding back when it came to verbally lashing out means that Sonic finds it perfectly justified to be that pissed and wanting Shadow to know that was the sole reason he didn’t just stay silent. So WHY??? And why the laughing? If we assume the reason he smirks during his transformation scene was the same as why he taunted the metarex, the laughing here doesn’t fit at all! Or is he overcompensating? In that case, then he must be pissed as all hell way beyond my first expectations. But then that just makes the question of “what the hell did Shadow do to get THIS reaction?!” Even more difficult to answer.
