    i love my Renegade, why you so worried about engine performance ? 0-60 time, downshifting and throttle response?? its a Jeep! not a sports car!

      Because Jeep's are supposed to have good performance too so it can get you through mud and snow.

    i got the jeep Latitude edition. its a fun car and its super easy to get around downtown because its a smaller Jeep. mine is only FWD but its still has that rugged suspension. Ive been getting 25.4 mpg and i thinks its a good everyday car that has that ability to go on rugged roads.

    I've got a 2016 Renegade Limited that I absolutely love. Only had it two weeks but I'm having fun with it, don't want to really try anything insane off-road with it but it's nice to know I can go down some mild dirt and gravel trails and have some fun.

      Byron Stahlmann put some General Altimax Arctic on it and it's a tank, even before I switched the tires it did pretty good in the snow when I put it in snow mode and drive with some common sense. Five months with it now and I still love it.

      Dam, so do you think I should buy a 5.9 Durango or put a 3k downpayment on a 2016 Renigade ? 😐 i know the main market for this car is young people for driving to work, school, maybe the beach. Will the v8 durango do much better ? Im guessing they should do about the same since the Renegade is a short wheelbase vehicle

    I'm an XJ 5-speed 4.0 owner. I test drove this Trailhawk at the auto show and was impressed by the interior and handling. I would consider buying one if they built a manual transmission Trailhawk. The 9 speed simply has too many issues. Also it is as much as a Wrangler.

  • @f2lo2
    @f2lo2 8 лет назад +5

    What about its reliability? I've heard many complains from people who bought it in 2014 and at the beginning 2015. Later it's difficult to say if cars are too new or Fiat has improved some issues (Fiat is producing Renegade).

    I have a 2015 Sport with the 2.4 9speed combo. I put in the K&N filter that fits the factory housing. Average with city and highway split almost 50/50, I get 27 mpg. Having said that, the 4x4 will get you out of every situation. As a Sport, it's about an inch or so lower than the Trailhawk, but taller than the front wheel drive. It is no exaggeration, I will drive this until it is no longer roadworthy. You will have to pull this out of my dead, clammy hands. Your review is quite spot on.

    One thing reviewers seldom mention (and granted it would take time to look into for every model vehicle and would vary by time of year and location) when saying the Renegade's get pricey in the higher trims is, unlike some brands, many Jeep models can be had at substantial discounts, particularly if you are smart about when you buy (people are thinking about buying 4wd suv's less in summer, for instance). In my area 98% of what you are going to find are Latitude models but at the local dealer I could purchase a pretty loaded Latitude for $6700 off msrp, roughly $21k. That's with the upgraded touchscreen, keyless entry and start, heated seats/steering wheel/wipers, auto wipers and headlights, etc. A person on one of the forums just purchased a base Trailhawk model for under $20k. You're thus getting a loaded Renegade with a MUCH more capable awd system for roughly the same price you are going to get a stripper model awd HR-V that doesn't even come with roof rails (or seats that go back far enough for taller drivers).

    In this review you didn't cover any of the 4x4 greatness of this little jeep! The price of the Trailhawk model is more expensive, but you get bigger tires, an extra full size spare on the upgraded rim, stiffer suspension, locking rear diff, hill decent control, terrain management system, Jeep Active Drive crawl gear, tow hooks, skid plates on the transfer case, front suspension and fuel tank. Plus all the upgraded interior features you talked about. This trailhawk trim is a way more capable 4x4 than any other CUV and it still drives like a car for great on road.

    Real tough to go for this over something like a Subaru XV Crosstrek (which is what I bought for my daughter and I drive for business trips). I was just under $23k with fees and taxes - it doesn't have a heated steering wheel or the nice infotainment system but if I'd wanted a few more options I could have still spent less than the Jeep. I will say this though the Jeep has lots of nice features and their build quality has really stepped up. I'd consider the Renegade again if I were buying another small SUV/Crossover that has 4WD/AWD. The Jeep might be better for real offroad use too. I get above 34MPG on the Crosstrek too by the way (sometimes as high as 42MPG).

    Will the dealership let you take these 4x4 vehicles on some off-road trails? Because if you can you should. Some people don't buy these just for the street.

    • @sergeybort1699
      @sergeybort1699 8 лет назад

    It's definitely a decent choice in this segment~ Defintiely very different since you can take it offroading. The two main problems are the engine and transmission. The 2.4L Tigershark Multiair 4 cylinder is known for being pretty problematic from what I heard and it's not very reliable. Pair that engine with the ZF 9-speed which for some reason has been tuned to feel almost like a 4 or 5 speed automatic and you get a vehicle that could be great, but those two things really hamper the desire.

    Love mine! You forgot the Bigfoot on the back hatch window! I also have the side radar warning system for both left and right sides of the Jeep, back up screen, which you didn't mention, and I have the two removable sun roofs. The front also being an electric automatic opening sky light. I was the first in the country to have that feature on the Renegade. I ordered it before they even started producing it! Yes, I did have to wait longer for it to be shipped over from Italy where they make them. On the highway, I find myself easily getting up to 95-100 mph! It drives really smooth so I do have to watch myself. It's my retirement car and I love it! Low enough for a 5' shorty like me to easily get into with ease. That was a selling point for me too. I wasn't able to climb up into the other more popular Jeeps because of their height off the ground. I needed an extra step to climb into them. I love the fact that I no longer bump the parking curbs pulling into a parking space since the Renegade is high enough off the ground to clear them. It's awesome for the Chicago winters too. It's fun to drive on a hot summer day with the windows down, and the top open. My only regret was not adding a cd player. I assumed it came with it. I do have Sirius XM so I'm not missing it at all.

      Definitely look at the manual Sport edition. It has the 1.4 turbo engine that is noticeably peppier than the heavy Trailhawk + auto trans with the 2.4 motor. Also, the 1.4 can be overboosted to actually be a smidgin on the fast side.

      If you want a Jeep for a first car, it's a no brainer. Better than the Compass with 80% Wrangler ability. Any 4x4 model will get you where you need to be. And I haven't heard any complaining of the front wheel model when it comes to snow or mud.

    In the fall of 2017 I purchased a new 2017 Jeep Renegade from a dealer in Anchorage Alaska. I live in a remote Alaskan town with the closest mechanic over 100 miles away - in Canada. I made it clear to the dealer I needed a reliable, sturdy vehicle. The car was fine until the temperature dropped below 20F then it would start - and immediately stall with a noticeable smell of gas. I called the dealer and he recommended using Heet and blamed the bad gas in the town. Heet did nothing and no other car is having the same problem. The dealer is over 700 miles away and I can't have the car towed back. There's no one to work on it here and the dealer is unwilling to do anything more. The car is a princess car - it'll only run if it's warm and sunny. Which means i'm walking to work at 20 below. Moral is don't buy Jeep and don't buy a Jeep Renegade. As soon as possible I'm taking it to another town to trade it in for a Japanese or Korean car. Something reliable.

    This car is considered some kind of "luxury SUV" in Brazil. :(

    So I'm a teenager, and I might be buying a new first car, and I'm stuck between the Subaru Impreza Hatchback, Jeep Patriot, and Jeep Renegade. (Probably base models and whatever

    • @platinumreviews1461
      @platinumreviews1461 8 лет назад

      i think the patriot would be a good choice, you have more space to move people and things around, and it isnt really big...its a good car and you will get good mpg

    • @bdougwrx
      @bdougwrx 8 лет назад

      Impreza hands down. Better build quality and standard awd.

    • @Speedysnail9999
      @Speedysnail9999 8 лет назад

      +bdougwrx That's what I was thinking. But I might learn to do some offroad driving in a forest, and I don't know if an Impreza would be good enough to do that

    • @willlow97
      @willlow97 8 лет назад

      Depends on what you want to do with it. The Trailhawk version will take you places that neither the Liberty or Impreza will take you. One guy took it through Black Bear pass, which neither of the other two will ever be doing.

    • @Speedysnail9999
      @Speedysnail9999 8 лет назад

      willlow97 Most of the time it will be in the city. But where I live, the snow is insane, so I'm going to try and get awd. I may try and do some mild offroading, like on a smooth dirt path through a forest, but nothing insane that other cars like Jeep Wranglers would go

    It's not a powerhouse but it goes. The only issue we have with it is the over steer, it has a 2.4 "tigershark" engine... I don't expect a Porsche 911 performance!...lol
    The steering is so sensitive that it takes a bit of finesse to master control. There is a natural tendency to over correct. Other than that we love the little fucker...lol

    20mpg? Seriously? That's terrible for such a small car! My 4 litre turbo manages that! Have you been driving through the middle of NYC at 5pm & flooring it at every set of lights or something?

    could you please review the 2016 Dodge Charger Scat Pack or the hellcat

  • @demianreith8719

    WOW!!!! 😀👏🏼 That was so cool, man! Next request is a BMW M2. You can review it as soon as it comes on sale. After it does, you can find the appropriate Wednesday to post the review. Otherwise, new car reviews, like the 2016 Charger you said you would review on your March 18th Weekly Update video next Wednesday, are on your mind. Like I said, I'm a big car fan like you because I got fed up with them. Good job! 👍🏼😎 Also, the OSS you used is now on my list of my favorite NCS songs. Next OSSs should be Stardust by T & Sugah and Forces by Jim Yosef (unless you used it already). 🙂 I LOVE IT!!

  • @shawnprickett4099

    Matt do you think that since Ford is starting to do more sport models of their cars they will make either a Sport/ST/RS(maybe) of the Escape since they just face lifted it? Cause it would be kinda cool to put like the Focus ST or 2.3 Ecoboost from the mustang into it and give it some sport tuned suspension.

      Don't forget the 2.7L ecoboost fusion. Should be a pretty fun mid sized sedan.

      +Jeff K I'm waiting on that one myself.... I may (dare I say it) think about trading my '15 Mustang GT PP for one if I can get one without all the nanny safety features (I still like to drive) but most of the tech. If there was even a few more inches of leg room in the back seats of my Mustang no way would I even consider getting rid of it but it's a 2 person car in reality....

    • @shawnprickett4099
      @shawnprickett4099 8 лет назад

      +Jeff K yeah I know but since the Escape is based on the Focus I don't think the engine bay would be big enough to fit that awesome engine. That car seems like it is going to be awesome my dad has a Fusion Titanium and that handles great it is FWD not AWD though it is a really good car and is pretty fast for a 4 door.

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  8 лет назад

      +Shawn Prickett I've heard rumors about an Escape ST coming out with the 2.3 in it. Not sure if they'll actually build it or not but that could be cool. The Ford Edge Sport I had as a press car last week handled great.

    • @shawnprickett4099
      @shawnprickett4099 8 лет назад

      +subaruwrxfan yeah from all of the commuter cars there are it seems like Fords handle the best because both the fusion and fiesta my dad and mom have they handle great it is sweet I kinda like driving them even though they are auto.
